I finished rereading the emerald arc yesterday and I feel like this whole thing about how touching the orbs connects you FOR LIFE to groudon and kyogre (and how it can lead to nightmares, how your body is permanently attached to the orbs etc) was completely forgotten and abandoned by both kusaka and the fandom. like idk but it does seem like something very important to Ruby and Sapphire’s character in my opinion.

the r&s arc already strongly implied that the orbs effect on one’s body and mind were heavy (more than that tbh) and emerald kind of highlights that point.

in my avatar the last airbender x saint seiya au the gold saints would all be benders except for aiolos and shura who are suki-like non-benders (aiolos would be an archer, and shura a sword master)

shaka and mu would probably be airbenders….. but shaka would definitely be a more yangchen like airbender and mu would be more similar to aang.

while aldebaran and dohko are earthbenders. I could see dohko being a metalbender while aldebaran would be more of a lavabender ?

aphrodite would be a waterbender like those waterbender from the swamp episode that can control plants, milo would be a waterbender specialised in bloodbending and camus would be a waterbender specialised in icebending (and maybe healing ? idk)

aiolia is ofc a firebender and more specifically a lightningbender while saga would be a combustionbender… and idk where to put deathmask he does give me more firebender vibe however he could also be maybe a non-bender that’s into spirit-bending ? it’s hard to tell

my brain’s been obsessed with jetko and camilo for a long time and I can’t help but notice that they share a lot of similarities!!

hear me out : zuko and milo are both hot headed imbeciles with a big heart, they’re both formidable fighters with great and unique battlefield skills (zuko being extra creative with his firebending and milo’s scarlet needle being by definition a very unique attack), both value honour and justice, the scarlet needle literally being a tool used to value his opponent and zuko’s entire arc revolving around themes like honour. but both also fell for the propagandist environment and indoctrination they grew up with, and both go through the questioning of their beliefs and a reassessment of their ways of thinking. both also serve the role of a mentor later on while it wasn’t their role originally and both are originally antagonists. I also personally associate the same animal to both of them, which is a dog, more specifically a black dog (either a malinois (or a milonois if you prefer) or a wolfdog)

here’s an old sketch of the animals I associate with milo, camus and aiolia (but let’s focus on milo because my lion anatomy for lia was a catastrophe)

now for jet and camus, their similarities might not be as obvious as it they were for milo and zuko but if you think about it there still are a lot of them. the most important thing is that they both had to grew up fast because they had to become parents/mentors of literal children when they were themselves still young. jet adopted every kid he found in gaipan’s forest and gave them a home, while camus became a mentor at 13 and raised both isaak and hyoga. both experience “the loss” of their “children” because of the ongoing war. jet looses his freedom fighters because of what he did in gaipan, and camus has to fight hyoga because of his duty to the sanctuary. both do begin to redeem themselves, jet by going to ba sing se for a new beginning, and camus by letting seiya and shun go through his temple, but both die before being able to experience a world without the war. jet dies in Ba Sing Se a few months before aang defeats ozai, and camus dies 2 hours before the bronze saints defeat saga. both miss their chance to experience a world where peace and harmony slowly but surely prevail, and both die as victims of that said war. also i again associate the same animal to the both of them, which is a stag

okay now to be more specific, I also think that jet and zuko’s (short lived but important) bond and camus and milo’s bond are similar. both of these bonds are based on the seemingly endless understanding of one another. I do sincerely think that at some point in atla, no character understood zuko better than jet did. and the canon we know of milo and camus basically indicates something very similar. it’s that shared understanding where words are not needed, that understanding that goes beyond compassion or empathy, that understanding that is rooted in shared experiences, shared pains, shared anger, shared feelings. both also shared the pain of a doomed relationship, that could never flourish into something more because of the war, because of the loss, the pain, and the suffering they endure.

ANYWAYS. I love jetko, I love camilo. I think it’s obvious by now.
