anyway I don’t think the story of the 2016 election is that America wanted Trump.

I think the story of the US election is that a supreme court decision allowed states with a history of totalitarianism to arbitrarily change voting law in ways that made it disproportionately difficult for people likely to vote Democrat to vote while a foreign country was running an intelligence campaign to discourage voting on the left and, real time, prod right wing voters in important districts to vote during the election in a race with massive question marks about the security of voting infrastructure, with a widely unpopular Democratic presidential candidate–

And Trump still lost. By roughly three million votes.

That’s six times the loss George W Bush had when he won the electoral college without winning the popular vote in 2000.

Hilary Clinton won the popular vote by a larger margin than Jimmy Carter or Richard Nixon or John Kennedy; she just won it in the wrong places.

Trump is now president because the electoral college assigns more weight to rural states, which are also states with more discriminatory voter laws and more disenfranchisement and therefore states in which it is harder to vote for people likely to vote Democrat.

And all of that is what I mean when I say the biggest problem with the American system is gerrymandering.

The most enfuriating part about this nsfw ban

It has done nothing to actually help with the porn bots. Quite literally it has made it worse.

Used to be, I would get follows and reblogs from maybe... 10 a week.

It was annoying. But Id just block and report them. Put it behind me and move on.

Now. I am wading theough neraly 50 follow and reblog notifications from porn bots every few Hours.

This is so much more pervasive now and its enfuriating and exhausting.

Even if I werent already considering leaving this is leaving such a negative experience with being on tumblr I truly dont want to be here.

Ive spent maybe 10 to 30 minutes on tumblr every day total and then just keep turning it off.

The content is gone or all porn. The sfw content I came for is also gone now. My friends are all leaving. And honestly.

Theres just no point.

I will be leaving. I am making peace with that. But theres nothing bringing me back.

Once, I encountered the funny story of an AI image descriptor with a sheep obsession. It had been trained on pictures of fields of sheep. Therefore, it tagged anything in a field as 'sheep', including an empty field, because they work on statistical probability. Therefore, it thinks "ah, a field! there's probably a sheep here." (It's a bit more complicated but basically that.) It also couldn't recognise sheep in places that weren't fields, such as petrol stations or barns. [cont]

Now, the alarming aspect of this story is that the very same technology is probably what tumblr is using to identify porn. Now, if it can’t tell that an empty field is not, in fact, full of sheep, what hope do we have that it can’t tell an empty room isn’t full of writing human forms engaged in passionate coitus?
