I’m a straight woman, and I’m in love with a gay man.

It’s hard. It’s despairing. It’s heartbreaking.

Every time I see him, I feel like I’m a mess. I feel like I always do the opposite of what I should be doing. That I constantly go where I cannot, or in this case, love someone who can’t love me back. It doesn’t feel like one of those traditional heartbreaks.

It feels like agony.

I wanted to give up. I wanted to let go of that friendship, because it somehow felt as if I was taking advantage of him, of his presence around me. He considered me as one of his closest friends. I considered myself as a selfish impostor. As hard as it may have seemed, I was really close to cutting all ties. I couldn’t stand crying every night anymore.

But love doesn’t work that way.

Love is that crazy little thing that can change everything with a simple glance at one’s smile. It may sound cheesy, but the simple sight of him lying on a couch, smiling, talking about his year-long crush to me as if they were already married made me realize one thing.

I wanted that fucker to be the happiest man alive.

And that no matter how he felt towards me, I had to make sure that that motherfucking ray of sunshine found someone that would love him as much as I do. Hopefully more.

I just want him to keep laughing and bitching at others the way he does now.

With the same annoyingly quirky smile.

In the comics, there is absolutely no mention of Tintin’s childhood or family. I know, Hergé is supposed to be his “father”, but…
