I hate to be making this post, because I hate making these kinds of posts.
Let's talk about selective mutism, and why a lot of comments from Moqa's viewers about her new character Kaito, a selectively mute individual are not appropriate. The photos below were made up by my friend William, I ask that you please take some time from your day to read them. (Do read the pinned comment as well.)
I've noticed people in Moqa'a comments saying things like "No voice claim for Kaito" or "can you do his voiceclaim before he went mute?" Kaito is SELECTIVELY mute. People with selective mutism can still talk but only around people they feel comfortable and safe around, they don't completely lose the ability to speak.
Please do not infantilize (treat someone as a child or in a way which denies their maturity in age or experience) a person or even a character over a disorder, they cannot help it and deserved to be treated just like anybody else regardless of the differences they may have or the things they have to deal with on a daily basis that you do not have to struggle with. Do not make light of the struggles that selectively mute individuals have to deal with, and do not treat them like a child because of it.
Please educate yourselves on these types of things, it's honestly just gross to call a disorder, something that somebody has absolutely no control over "cute".
You're allowed to think a character is cute, but don't make their disability or disorder the reason as to why you view them that way.
It would be much appreciated if you could share this community post, I'd like to be able to inform as many people as possible.

Sam Cagey, an activist from the Lummi Nation, appeared on The Dick Cavett Show in 1973.
Sam Cagey was prominent in the 1960s and 1970s, especially as a voice during the “fish-ins” in the Pacific Northwest in which several different Native Nations demonstrated against state violations of longstanding treaty rights. He said at the time, "They’ve pushed Lummi fishermen about as far as they can go.”
His obituary stated, “Mr. Cagey helped establish the Indian school of aquaculture, which trained many of the tribe’s technicians. Mr. Cagey also was instrumental in creating the Northwest Indian College, the Lummi Health Center and the Lummi Casino.”
