WORLDBEX 2018
Tumblr media
Another year, another WORLDBEX event!
How was my experience in WORLDBEX as a Benildean student?
De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, Interior Design and Architecture program, has an exhibit in WORLDBEX! WORLDBEX’s event happened in World Trade Center, Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC) and SMX. For our school, we were located in PTTC.
DLS-CSB Interior Design and Architecture program booth showcased the students’ works like drawings, thesis project, scale model, furniture and others.
Since I’m taking up Interior Design, this is all about my experience from the interior design booth.
Before the big day in WORLDBEX, we need to set up first! 3rd year interior design students were given a task to design for WORLDBEX by using a triangular frame. The design challenge is we need to think of a concept that can promote our school.

Our coolest design adviser, IDr. John Dexter Baring, was inspired by BigSky. The color of BigSky logo has a white, black and galaxy color. BigSky is a website for the professors and students. The reason of having this website is for the professors to post lectures, online quiz, online assignment and others for their students. In short, this website is for the communication between the professors and students. Our professor wants also a communication between our project and the people, just like how BigSky works.

As we can see, the triangular frame has 3 sides. Each side has a different design and different communication to the people. As we brainstorm, here’s the plan that we came up.
1st side is a galaxy look that is inspired from the logo of BigSky.

2nd side is our concept board and doodle/freedom wall.

3rd side is stereogram for communication between our project and to the people.

As we finalize our design, it’s time for the material needs.
In our class, I was part of the logistics group. As a member of logistics, it’s hard to think what materials that we need to use because we thought that maybe the material/s won’t work out. With the help of other group and our professor, we finally have an idea what materials that we need to buy. The materials that we need are black light, glow in the dark paints, black paints, wood, paint brushes and spray paints.
Here comes our 1st day of ingress!
Time to start doing for or project! While some of my classmates were doing our project, others helped our professors to carry some things for the booth. At the end of our first day of ingress, our project was not yet done (not even a half way). On our second day of ingress, we need to finish our project. We need to work fast, help each other and cooperative.
Even though we were not yet done, we had fun of making our project with our professors and chairperson of Interior Design program. Here are our pictures during the 1st day of ingress.

Last day of ingress=TIME TO FINISH OUR WORK
Since this is our last day of ingress, we need more time to finish our work. We really need a BIG TEAMWORK to finish our project. We have a lot of time to prepare compare to our first day of ingress. By doing a project, do not be afraid of having your hands dirty. Having dirty hands can lead us to more experience of doing art. Like making a galaxy art, we need to spread colors using our fingers. Even that you’re using a spray paint, your hands can get dirty also. As we do our project, we got experience more in doing art. Our professor also led me screw the nail to experience more in construction (even though I didn’t screw it well, sorry sir! ). We also helped our professors to arrange the booth. The good thing happened during our ingress was I make some new friends to my classmates while making a project. Here are the pictures during the last day of ingress.

FIRST DAY OF WORLDBEX2018!
Time to man the booth! But sad to say, I didn’t man to the interior design program booth. I was manned in the architecture program booth because I joined architecture organization (SAGA). But after I manned in the architecture program side, I immediately went to interior design program booth and look around what we’ve done our project and booth.
Here’s the side of doodle/freedom wall. We also include our design rationale and group picture as a class.

The one that has a logo of Benilde (Be) has a stereogram inside of it. We used Ipad for the stereogram.
Another side is the galaxy look. When you’re going to look inside, you’re going to see galaxy look using glow in the dark paint and black light.

After I looked around in our booth, I walked around the whole WORLDBEX exhibit.
In World Trade Center, this section was for the construction companies. There was another booth extending to World Trade and PTTC for the construction companies from other countries. PTTC area is for the interior companies and home accessories.
The most favorite part of the whole WORLDBEX exhibit was Boysen. Boysen didn’t just promote their paints, they have a mini show room in their exhibit for leading us to new experience and it is Instagram-able. After their mini show room, they were giving out brochures.
To summarize all of my experience from planning the design to finish design, we really need to help each other and do not be afraid of getting our hands dirty because it really lead us to a new experience and it would fun. This project really got us tired but at the end result, it would be worth it.
I thank my school to letting us experience of WORLDBEX exhibit. To our professors and chairperson of Interior Design program, Arch. IDr. Larry Carrandang for helping us for our booth. Lastly, to our amazing interior design adviser, IDr. John Dexter Baring, for pushing us to do better also for guiding and helping us not only for this exhibit but also in our plates/drawings.
