I'm a self-taught quilter. Lots of hours watching Simply Quilts with Alex Andersen and buying LOTS of quilting magazines.

Snow Geese by Jean Nolte
I decided to recycle some of my husband's shirts to make this. My first time using no waste flying geese blocks. Turned out ok! I've got more fabric left and a plan for another one.

Our Flag, Our People
The quilt was my entry in the 2024 Cherokee Nation Homecoming Quilt show. The theme for the weekend was "Weaving our Future."
I used the colors of the Cherokee flag - orange, yellow, brown, green, white and black. The extra red stripe was in honor of MMIW. You probably can't tell, but the white fabric actually has symbols from the Cherokee Syllabary on it, which I ordered from Spoonflower.
Pattern was Plaidy Cake by Allison at Cluck Cluck Sew
#quilt#Cherokee Nation#I did not even place or get a participation ribbon#I need to step up my game for next year

Welp. Sewed one block wrong. Probably a sign to quit for the night.

Quilt #2 of 2024 is done! No real pattern, just alternating hourglass blocks and solids. (It was supposed to be a stash buster, but I swear I have more fabric than when I started! 🤣)
Bonus picture of my neighbor's outdoor cat, Sonny. (His sister Cher is the indoor cat).

crochet, knitting, sewing... any kind of fiber art given to another person is just so indescribably filled with love. and i think part of that is bc it is a process. the gradual nature of creation. the stitches you create with yarn and your hands is replicated in your heartstrings. every stitch was made with consideration, counted and recounted. by the time the gift is complete it is heavy with love. it says: this is the part of my heart that you reside in, please handle it with care.

I've been quilting for almost 20 years. This week I finally bought a design wall. I could have sat in front of this sucker all day, just moving blocks around. Didn't decide on a final layout, but that's neither here nor there.
#treatyoself #it'sthelittlethings
#these blocks are a hot mess#they're left overs from another project that just didn't work#but I spent so much time and fabric making them#They're getting used!

Star Pop II - by Emily Dennis of Quilty Love
Second quilt of 2023!
My word for 2023 is "Light" - I want to shine, to glow, to ignite, to sparkle, to illuminate. To lighten up and lighten my load - physically, mentally and emotionally. So I'm collecting images of stars, sunflowers, candles etc to remind me. This would make a cute baby blanket, but for now its going to grace the wall in my living room.

First completed project of 2023!
Pattern is "Chips Alignment" by Sally Trude. Her version has a low flow white background, but my stash is overflowing with darks, so I changed it up.

Bought a layer cake of quilt fabrics in a VERY busy pattern set. The idea was to stretch my creative self, because this is WAY out of my comfort zone. But now I have absolutely no idea what to do with it. 🤪

The Plus Side, pattern by Kirstie Cleverly at Bonjour Quilts.
So nice to use up fabrics I already had on hand! Only thing I had to buy was the purple FQ and the flannel for the backing.

Finally finished the top to this quilt - and not a single pop of yellow to be had.
I've never done a seminole border before, so that was interesting. I just wanted to use up every scrap of the blue fabric I had.
The border feels a little too modern for the rest of it (imo), but I love it anyway so who cares.
I think I'm going to splurge and have it professionally quilted.
I bought this blue fabric about 12 years ago at the Dallas Quilt show. It was a set of indigo blues made in South Africa, and I've been hoarding it all this time, because I knew I'd never get more.
I was spending my birthday there with my mom, and it was one of the best memories I had with her in the past few years. She died in 2020 and I finally just decided it was time to use it and remember the good times.
#quilts#good memories#blue is my signature color#breaking my social media fast cuz I luff this so much
