My Opinion
What do I think about the book and why have I choose it?
I think the book has a very intensive mora bur it`s also very sad. This book hasn`t a happy ending and this a negative thing in my eyes. The book is very different described than the story in the film. The actions in the film and in the book are running in a different time and they didn`t have the same structure. In the book the emotions and the action are more in detail. I knew the film but I was very surprised about the book, because for me it was like getting in contact with a new story. And in the movie you only crop half with. I have chosen this book, because I like love stories especially sad stories because I am a sensible person with a lot of emotions. And I thinks this book isn`t only a love story book because it`s an untypical love story book. Here you get confronted also with other things like cancer and I think cancer is the main theme of the book.

What are the themes in the book and what is his moral?
In the book they talk that they are from Indiana but the author also is from there. Also in the book the talk about Midnight Dawns and on the title of the book Midnight Dawn there is a subtitle and there is written “Her soul remembers his touch, even if she doesn`t” and I think he connects this with the death of Augustus and their love. The main themes of this book are children that have to handle with cancer, love, health, statisification and also death. I think with this book the author wants to say that you can`t see everything in life beforehand but it`s your responsibility what you do with your life. You can`t change everything but you have to learn how to handle it. It doesn’t matter how hard the time is. You have to be always grateful and thankful. You must have an positive attitude. Cause it got worse and worse. In my opinion I believe also that he wants to say that we should help each other and share love because there are a lot of people who suffer.

How is the style of writing in the book?
Hazels writing is easy to follow because it`s written in a conversional way. And that makes us feel like we really know Hazel. Hazel is full opinated. The text is written moderately difficult and there are a lots of conversations, which make the whole story easier to understand. The author has a great vocabulary and he prefers to built short sentences. If you read the text regular than it`s easy to come in. You can understand the words you don`t know with the context. The author uses a lot of artwork in his book for example the book from Peter Van Houten “ An Imperial Affliction” it`s a book about cancer but an untypical book like his. On the front of the book you can see a flower and a sea. What symbolizes disapproval. He writes about everyday problem and thoughts in his book. For example health, love family, friends and to make the own dream come true. And with the characterization of Hazel Grace and Augustus the book gets interested. The book is written in 2012.The fault in our stars follows the same pattern like the book with Romeo and Julia.First it is slomber then cute, lovely and after that painful. This book is a book, which you could start also from the end because there is again a new chapter one and two and then continue to the real one and two and it would still make sense.

QUESTIONS TO THE AUTHOR
If I could ask the author 5 questions I would ask him:
- How did you come up with this idea?
- Are you experienced with such situations?
- What is the background of the story?
- With which character you most identify?
- Would you change anything about the text now?
Would ask him these questions, because I would like to know from where he gets the inspirations and what is the moral of this.

QUESTIONS TO GUS
If I could ask Augustus 5 questions I would ask him:
- How did you react when you found out about the disease?
- What was your motivation for life?
- Where did you get this power from?
- How can you have such a positive attitude after all?
- If you had one wish what would this be?
I would like to ask Mr. Waters this questions, because he radiates so much joy but we don`t know how he feels inside.

EMPATHY
What happened to Gus?
In Chapter eighteen Augustus called Hazel at 2:35 am and said to her :,, Hazel Grace, I`m at the gas station. Something is wrong. You gotta help me. Augustus had a cancer on his leg a few years ago. After that a G- tube was built in his stomach and he has now an infect there. And the cancer came again. After that he was in the hospital and he was really sick, since Hazel was sick and in the hospital. But he didn`t want to tell anything. Because he wanted to play the hero for her. Augustus didn`t want that Hazel worries about him. He didn`t want to hurt her and scare her. Now I will try to write a little diary in the way I think Gus would do.
“ Dear Diary, today is my first day at home and I am writing about the time in the hospital. I really was scared what would happen but not scared for me. I was scared for Hazel how would she react. But I knew that she is a strong girl. I know that I`m gonna die soon, but I hope I can somehow simplify it for Hazel. I want that she remembers me when I die. And I will do everything to make her life beautiful. I had a lot of aches during the time in the hospital also before that but I didn`t let it show, because I wanted to be a hero for Hazel. I don`t know what to write anymore, because I`m not a good writer, therefore I will say. ,, Good night diary”. “
When I have read the text I was really disappointed and sad. I had to weep, because the scene is so described that you think he will die and Hazel is there and is afraid of losing him. I know how it is to lose someone but I don`t know how it is to lose the love of your life. That`s why this place got me so carried away. If this would happen to me I couldn`t imagine to love someone other. And if I would do I would have a bad faith. I hope for the next chapter that Augustus will be better. I`d like to find in the new chapters a cure for his illness. I wish a miracle would happen for both.
In this text I can`t identify with any character, because I don`t know, if I would have the power to fight with this disease. I wouldn`t know how to react if this would happen to me. I think I would get depressive but also if I would be Hazel I don`t know if I could be strength like her to think positive and give my boyfriend so much power like she does. Because she has her own cancer with who she h fight with.

Short letter to the author:
Dear Author
I think that there is an important moral behind these characteristics. Because they show us something what we often forget to do. And this is to be strong and be thankful. We have to learn to dance in the rain. Cause after the rain comes the sun. It‘s in our attitude how we live our lifes. But we shouldn‘t forget that health and love is the most important thing. With this letter I want to say thank you for remember us that life is short. And a big compliment to the style how you have written the book. It‘s very deeply.
Frendly greetings Merissa

Who is Hazel and how is she changing?
Hazel Grace Lancaster is a seventeenth year old girl with lung cancer. She is a closed girl with a lot of power. She has been through a lot of things in her life. But she is a person, who doesn`t complain after all. She isn`t an optimist but no pessimist either. Hazel looks at things as they really are and is satisfied with everything she has. She likes to read a lot of books and is rather secluded. This girl is a direct and honest person. She is a slim, middle- sized person with short hair. She wears always an oxygen tank with two liters. In the first four chapters she is always in her room and reads books. Hazel only goes out when she has to go to the Support Group. Then she learns Augustus but at first she is very withdrawn. She would like to have more contact with him but waits all the time for him to take the first step. When she speaks to him she seems shy and is not free. But then they are developing….In Chapter six the feelings of Augustus and Hazel have envolved that they have fallen in love and would like to be together. But there is only one hook… Hazel doesn`t want to be in a relationship with him. Because the cancer is attacking her more and more and she doesn`t wants to burden Augustus with that. Hazel hat texted him and said that she is sorry that they can`t be more than friends and that she hopes he understands her. So he texted her back and said okay. They always say to each other okay like Isaac and his ex- girlfriend said to each other always. It`s like a promise that, they will always be there for each other. I took this part of the book, because you can see the change from the beginning till now. Hazel has changed not a lot but she has. She has changed because of Augustus. He has shown her that he is anytime here for her. He shows her that life is beautiful if you know how to live. Augustus opens her and she trusts him. Hazel becomes much more open. And she likes to do things and isn`t just in her room hanging out. Hazel and Augustus would be a perfect team. Because both of them had a hard time. But they are still showing strength and power. They use every moment of life to make beautiful memories. He and her don`t let themselves get hung up after all. I think there you can see how someone can be important to you and they accept each other choices but they are still fighting for each other. Their characters show how contented they are with that what they have. Even if they`re both death sick. In my opinion this text tells me that we have to be more thankful. We don`t appreciate anything until we don`t have it. Therefore I admire Hazel because of the person she is but I also like Augustus.
