i work at a children's hospital. as per hospital regulations, all employees have to go through regular fire safety trainings. most of it is pretty standard. and then there's the Baby Vest.

it looks like this:

it fits six babies. and in the event of a fire we're literally supposed to just put it on, fill it with babies, and then evacuate the building.

“Superman” is a song that is many Taylor Swift fan’s least favorite on Speak Now Deluxe Edition (2010) and many fans often say that it should have been left off the album. However, the best line in this song is arguably “I love you: I loved you from the very first day”, and the secret message for the best song on Speak Now Deluxe Edition (2010), “Dear John”, is “loved you from the very first day”. Even though Superman on its own is not one of Swift’s strongest songs, its connection with “Dear John” shows how a young girl idealizing a person she barely knew quickly turned to a young girl stuck in a toxic relationship with this same person who took advantage of her naïveté. taylor deciding to perform songs from Lover in Central Park proves that Lover is gonna be as magical and fairytale-like as Speak Now considering the has only ever performed in Central Park previously with the Speak Now album in this essay I will-

what’s also interesting is that Taylor frames the archer/the prey dichotomy in the past tense: “I’ve been the archer, I’ve been the prey,” implying that is NOT how she views love/relationships anymore….in the past the idea of love being a game or a sort of battle has been explored a lot: “this is the worthwhile fight,” “love’s a game, wanna play?,” “you gotta leave before you get left,”etc., because for Taylor, love has felt like a horrible loss, being the prey of an arrow gone astray, or she’s felt like an archer, someone who knew how to hit a target/end a relationship when things got bad. for the first time, Taylor is saying “you could stay,” -that maybe she doesn’t need to be the archer OR the prey anymore, maybe “you could stay” instead and we can fight for this relationship together, on the same side -she’s ready for combat, but it’s not the all-or-nothing combat of love as a competition; it’s realizing they’re on the same team.

here’s a not-so-good-quality All You Had to Do Was Stay with Haunted’s acoustic accompaniment because she’s one of taylor’s saddest songs and y’all don’t give her the love she deserves because she’s upbeat

I didn’t realize it on the first listen but this song is really truly also about anxiety and almost…… self loathing?

“I’m ready for combat / I say I don’t want that / but what if I do?” questioning her own morals and beliefs because she doesn’t want a war, she doesn’t want to fight but…… what if she does? merely questioning herself like that and having the anxiety that like ‘oh shit what if I’m fake and do like the drama’ when she knows she doesn’t!! ouch….

“I cut off my nose just to spite my face, then hate my reflection for years and years” to me this is a metaphor for her doing something quite spiteful in the name of revenge and then hating herself for it even years later.

“Who could ever leave me darling, but who could stay?” she KNOWS she’s a good person, she knows that people who love her will stay… but considering the things she’s done…… who could stay after that?

“The room is on fire, invisible smoke” Interestingly, the “invisible smoke” articulates that even though Taylor is in a terrible emotional state, nobody can see the fire and anxiety and depression but her.

“Help me hold onto you” she’s basically saying hey, my anxiety is through the roof I’m convinced you’ll hate me like I do but I need you in my life so please… help me keep you here next to me
