Using Trauma-Informed Care in Mental Health Treatment
Anxiety and depression are currently being discussed without the inclusion of emotional awareness. Many cases of anxiety and depression are now being understood to be symptoms of underlying, unresolved emotions and unmet needs. More education about emotions and trauma could prevent these symptoms and the use of ineffective treatments to address them.
What Do We Mean When We Talk About Emotions?
Emotions are biological in the sense that they are as much a part of our bodies as they are of our brains, and they have developed to serve certain purposes in our lives. Anger, sadness, fear, joy, disgust, exhilaration, and sexual exhilaration are said to be among the seven "fundamental" emotions hard-wired into our neural systems.
We can only experience these feelings for a short time until they naturally go away, like a wave, when we allow ourselves to feel them (without acting on them).
Anxiety, remorse, and shame are examples of "inhibitory" emotions.
When one's true feelings clash with what others want, these emotions are meant to obstruct them (like our parents, peers, and partners).
The mother of a three-year-old named Betsy, 40-year-old Lauren, was raised in a family where there was much violence. As a result, Lauren developed a deep aversion to the basic feeling of rage and learned to suppress both her own and Betsy's out of fear.
Lauren screamed at Betsy, "Don't EVER TALK TO MOMMY THAT WAY!!" when she started to show her annoyance at a toy being taken away. It was a shock to Betsy when she heard a loud bang.
Being unable to express or receive validation from her parents early on in her life, Betsy developed the ability to control her anger through the use of muscular contraction and breath holding as the years went by.
Betsy now feels anxious instead of angry. Because we don't want to be overwhelmed or "dysregulated," we suppress our primary emotions with inhibitors.
It's possible to numb our deepest feelings by engaging in unhealthy coping mechanisms like worry, shame, or guilt.
When Tom was a boy, his father taught him that "weeping and expressing sadness is for weaklings."
He's ashamed to be unhappy now that he's an adult. A sense of shame over his natural sadness has exacerbated his depressive symptoms.
People may believe they are "genetically defective" or "damaged goods" because they are unaware of fundamental and inhibiting emotions.
In contrast, anxiety and depression symptoms generated by suppressed or buried underlying emotions can be alleviated and even cured via treatment and knowledge of the mind-body connection. Medical school doesn't teach many psychiatrists the science of emotions, thus they risk misdiagnosing their patients and leaving the fundamental cause of their illnesses unresolved, which is the suppressed emotions.
To describe trauma, one must first understand what it is.
Diana Fosha, a world-renowned psychologist, believes that trauma and psychopathology are the results of feeling overpowering emotions in the face of unwanted, complete isolation. Trauma, by this definition, is something that every human being has to deal with at some point in their lives.
How many of us have had to deal with our emotions on our own for fear of criticism, desertion, or retribution?
Families and relationships can suffer trauma when emotional neglect or abuse is present.
We live in a world full of violence, stress, and injustice, so trauma isn't only something that happens in families and relationships.
The fact that parents and schools haven't been given the right tools to address this issue — and they are often unequipped when it comes to mental health — only adds to our misery. Parents and schools.
As a result, they are ill-equipped to assist youngsters in dealing with overwhelming emotions, which is essential if we are to raise calm, self-assured children in the midst of a chaotic and traumatising world. As a result, parents who are unable to deal with their own powerful emotions are unlikely to be able to help their children deal with their own feelings, either.
The most loving parents can easily stifle their children's emotions, and many schools lack the resources necessary to help them flourish emotionally.
As a result, many youngsters experience social isolation and internal shame as they grow older. As a result of being chastised and alone with one's emotions, the most common response is to bury one's feelings. Many of us are left to deal with simmering traumatic stress, which we numb with protective actions and by doing so become more addicted, distracted, and alienated.
Food, alcohol, and drugs may cause us to establish an unhealthy relationship with them.
Perhaps we isolate ourselves or lash out.
Our nerve systems need to be rebalanced and calmed in order for healing to take place.
Changing Our Way of Life
All of us can benefit from emotional awareness and the ability to overcome our inhibitions, not just psychiatrists and psychologists.
It is my opinion that teachers and guidance counselors should be given an emotional education as part of their professional development. To help parents understand how to be emotionally available and not afraid of their children's emotional states, this material should be included in parenting books.
Instead, they would learn to affirm and be with their children's emotions by listening to them with curiosity but not reacting.
Adults in this ideal environment are also better able to deal with their own personal stress and conflict. Emotions such as anger, sadness, fear, and joy would all be acknowledged, affirmed, and bolstered. We'd all get a crash course in triggers, too, the things that set off our bodies' overactive sympathetic nervous systems.
We can take comfort in the fact that our emotions are perfectly natural and normal in the face of life's ups and downs.
We'd be able to respond constructively to triggers if we had the information, tools, and practice.
There are high rates of physical and mental well-being in societies with significant emotional awareness. Because it knows what it means to be human, this is a culture that places a high value on genuine connection and cooperative community.

What to Say, and When to Say It, After the Next Tragedy
Helping young children cope with the unimaginable by providing guidance on what to say.
KEY POINTS
When it comes to discussing traumatic events with young children, there is no one answer to the question of what to say.
Listening is more important than talking since a child's inquiries will guide you to what knowledge they need and how much of it they require.
Reading may help youngsters better understand and connect to their emotions.
There is no requirement that you do it "correct."
There is no magic phrase to utter that will put everything right and make everything better. In addition, there is not much to be gained by attempting to compel a youngster to communicate before they are developmentally ready to do so. Allow some time to pass, maintain an open door policy, and create an environment in which they feel at ease discussing how they are feeling.
It might be useful to them if you sometimes talk about your own experiences.
Speaking one's mind is preferable to keep one's mouth shut.
Keeping quiet or ignoring the subject is tempting, but if you do so, you will be denying your kid the opportunity to comprehend and deal with the situation.
You don't want to leave the management of this situation up to babysitters who are angry.
It's not the conversation about what happened that's upsetting
it's the occurrences themselves, Take this into consideration as you get ready to have a conversation with your kids.
The news can make the situation even more severe.
The graphic pictures that we see on our electronic gadgets exponentially heighten our feeling of vulnerability, which is NOT something that our children need to experience or learn to manage.
You may listen to the news via your headphones or wait till they are sleeping.
Reading may help youngsters better understand and connect to their emotions.
Reading tales to young children and having conversations about how the children's favorite characters may be feeling is a great way to encourage youngsters to speak about their own emotions and concerns.
Books like "Once I Was Very Very Scared" by Chandra Ippen, "My Friend is Sad" by Mo Willems, "The Rabbit Listened" by Cori Doerrfeld, and "Lots of Feelings" by Shelley Rotner are some of my favorites for encouraging children to talk about and share their emotions. Other great books in this genre include "The Rabbit Listened" by Cori Doerrfeld.

At SEODay, were Google Page Experience Scoring updates revealed?
John Mueller, a Google Search Advocate, talked at an online session at SEODay 2022 on the importance of page experience on search engine results and changes to how search engines evaluate websites.
Google now bases desktop search results on a site's desktop experience, while mobile search results are determined by a site's mobile experience.
In addition, he described the three primary metrics used by the search engine to calculate experience scores: largest contentful paint (LCP), first input delay (FID), and cumulative layout shift (CLS).
Mueller stated, "This is not a tie-breaking factor."
"It won't make or break your website in terms of search, but it does play a role in how results are ranked."
Google has also added a new page experience metric referred to as INP, or "interactivity to next page."
Google announced INP for the first time at I/O 2022, and while Mueller was clear that it is not a direct ranking factor, he discussed INP as something that could play a role in the future.
Search Console Insights Facilitates Tracking Of Search Rankings.
Mueller began his presentation by discussing the advantages of Search Console Insights.
Using Search Console data in conjunction with analytics, users are able to generate custom reports and obtain a unique perspective of the data.
He specifically mentioned BigQuery and Data Studio as "a method for connecting disparate data sources and generating incredibly elaborate reports."
Mueller stated that Google is also working on expanding its Search Console APIs, which will allow users to connect these APIs to their websites' code.
Mueller mentioned monitoring top queries and determining if specific URLs are indexed as possible applications.
Videos and pictures play a more prominent role in search results.
Google previewed a set of video reports coming to Search Console at I/O earlier this year, in response to a growing demand for this type of media in search results.
"We know that customers like seeing videos and real photographs in search results, so we strive to provide them with more," Mueller added.
He includes web tales, a collection of sites that often contain videos, in this rising trend.
Google currently provides a WordPress plugin for generating them to ease their usage.
Genuine Product Reviews Considered in Rankings
The worldwide market for e-commerce is projected to top $5.5 trillion this year, a trend that has been on the rise.
Google's algorithm incorporates what Mueller calls "genuine reviews" to better serve digital buyers.
"People have high expectations for online reviews, therefore we've focused especially on algorithm changes for prioritising these product reviews," he said.
Additional Updates From Mueller
Mueller said at SEODay that Google has somewhat modified its nomenclature, with "title links" now referring only to the title of a search result.
The search engine giant has also introduced the "indexifembedded" robots meta tag.
When embedding material on the main page and want to control the indexing of that embedded content, users may use the meta tag.
Mueller said that the Google blog was the finest source of knowledge on any SEO-related subject.
"With larger updates, it might be difficult to advise people precisely what to focus on," he said.
Therefore, we have a rather complete blog entry.

How do I optimize Google's mobile-friendly search ads (RSAs)?
Learn about Google Ads responsive search ads, their restrictions, significant distinctions, and more in order to run your sponsored campaigns more effectively.
Now that responsive search ads (RSAs) have replaced extended text advertisements (ETAs) in Google Ads, it may be time to reconsider your ad optimization techniques.
Optimizing RSAs necessitates an entirely different strategy than what the majority of advertising have used for decades.
While you should still use a similar process to choose which text variants to test, the procedure for conducting a test that yields statistically significant results has changed.
RSA Testing Vs. ETA Testing Differs
Previously, ad testing consisted of A/B tests in which numerous ad variants competed against one another.
After collecting sufficient data for each of the competing advertisements, a winner might be determined by assessing the appropriate parameters.
Combining conversion rate with clickthrough rate, "conversions per impression" (conv/imp) is a common measure for determining the winning advertisement.
After enough data was accumulated to permit statistical significance, the ad with the highest rate could be pronounced the victor.
This method for locating successful advertisements is no longer effective for three reasons.
Let's investigate what they are.
You may only test three RSAs per ad group.
In the days of ETA ad testing, marketers could extend an A/B test into an A/B/C/D/... test and continue to add challengers until they hit the maximum of 50 advertisements per ad group.
While I've never seen an advertiser that ran 50 concurrent advertisements in an experiment, I've observed numerous who tried five or six ads simultaneously.
However, Google currently limits ad groups to a maximum of three RSAs, which alters how ad testing must be conducted.
You do not get complete metrics for ad combinations.
Keeping in mind that each RSA may include up to 15 headlines and 4 descriptions, a single RSA can now generate 43,680 permutations.
That is far more than the fifty ETA variants we were permitted to test in the past.
Therefore, when a user views an RSA, just a portion of the headlines and descriptions provided by the advertiser are shown.
Furthermore, the headlines and descriptions shown vary from sale to auction.
When comparing the performance of two RSAs, you are really comparing the performance of 43,680 ad A possibilities versus 43,680 ad B possibilities.
This implies that even if you discover ad A to be the winner, your findings are incorrect due to the large number of uncontrolled factors in your experiment.
To get additional valuable information, you would need to examine the combinations report, which details which headlines and descriptions were combined for each advertisement.
The issue with this information, however, is that Google only gives the amount of impressions.
And to determine the winning advertisement, we need CTR and conversion rate data, which Google no longer provides at this level of detail.
Ad Group Impressions are now as dependent on the Ad as they are on the Keywords.
But perhaps the most unexpected reason why ad testing technique must adapt is because the previous approaches were developed in a world where impressions were supposed to rely only on an ad group's keywords.
This assumption has been challenged by RSAs, and now the impressions of an ad group might rely equally on the advertisements and the keywords.
RSA research conducted by Optmyzr in May 2022 revealed that ad groups using RSAs received 2.1 times as many impressions as those with merely ETAs.
And regardless of whether this substantial rise in impressions for ad groups with RSAs is attributable to an increase in ad rank and quality score, or whether Google has a built-in bias for this ad kind, the ultimate effect is the same.
The sandbox in which we play favours RSAs, particularly those with the greatest number of assets and the least amount of pinning.
Modern ad optimization must thus take into account both conversions per impression and the amount of impressions an ad can give.
A/B Asset Testing With Differentiated Ads
Ad Variations, a subset of Google's Experiment tools, has been updated to address the issues that RSAs posed for ad testing, as a result of Google's consideration of the issues.
Instead of needing the establishment of several RSAs, the experiments work on assets and enable marketers to test three sorts of things: pinning assets, exchanging assets, and adding assets.
Experiments' left-hand menu contains all available choices.
Test Pinning
Pinning is a means to indicate to Google which portions of text should always appear in certain ad sections.
The most basic kind of pinning instructs Google to display a single piece of information in a certain position.
A typical practise is to always include the brand in headline 1.
A more sophisticated method involves pinning numerous bits of text to a certain position.
Obviously, the advertisement can only display one of the pinned texts at any one moment, thus this is a method to combine advertiser control with the advantages of dynamically created Advertising.
A typical use would be to test three variants of a marketing message by pinning all three to headline position 1.
The most extreme kind of pinning is pinning text to every location of the RSA to generate what some have termed a "fake ETA."
This is discouraged by Google since it negates the purpose of RSAs.
According to Optmyzr's RSA research, this form of pinning may significantly restrict the amount of impressions an ad group can get.
To our surprise, we also discovered that phoney ETAs had a greater CTR and conversion rate than genuine RSAs.
According to one argument, marketers that have spent years refining their advertising utilizing ETA optimization approaches may already have ads that are so effective that machine learning may bring minimal benefit.

Are you considering a fourth Covid vaccination?
The Covid-19 Vaccine Roll-out and Distribution, even when given again as a booster, won't be able to stop the coronavirus or offer long-term protection from infections at this stage.
Antibodies quickly increase right after the third shot, the booster.
Then, after approximately a month, they start to deteriorate.
As a result, three months later, the level of infection protection falls to roughly 50%.
According to William Schaffner, MD, head of the department of preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, "These antibodies don't persist long."
Three months later, according to William Schaffner, MD, the protection against infection is reduced by roughly 50%.
But after a month or so, they start to fall off, reaching around 25% in three months, and then almost nothing in six.
For example, following an effective dose of the measles Vaccines, the level of antibody protection increases to 98%.
In the first year after a baby is vaccinated, the level of antibody protection against measles rises to 98 percent after the shot and stays at about that level for about four months. But after three months, protection drops to around 50%. After six months, even those who got the vaccine have little or no protection against measles
