“I’ve made it very clear that even though i’m born female in this society that I don’t go to or perform in any space that is titled ‘women born women only.’ I am very happy to go to a space that says ‘all women welcome’ because then it is drawing like a magnet all those who self identify, who want to be in women’s spaces, and I feel like all people who are oppressed or discriminated against in this society have a right to get together y’know whether that be a third world caucus or it be a women’s dance, whatever it is. But, I think that when you begin to set a policy that defines who’s gonna be a women, and police the boundaries of it, then it’s not only a threat to everyone who doesn’t fit that, y'know ‘gee her feet are kind of big, her voice is kinda low, look at that beard growth, what do you think about that one’ it sets up a unhealthy atmosphere. Who’s pure enough to decide who’s woman enough? And I think also that it reverts back to a biological definition of women, which, biological determinism, it’s always been the club used against women! You can’t suddenly lift that up as a liberating weapon. I think that that kind of definition ‘women born women, that we’re all women, that we have identical experiences, it’s innate,’ is a setback to the women’s movement. I have always said that the only time I’d go into a space that had been ‘women born women only’ is when I could go together with my transexual sisters”
— Leslie Feinberg, when asked about Mich Fest in this interview (via tuffdyke)

BABYFACE FW19 Fantasy Fashion Collage Zine is now available, this is one of the most fun projects I’ve ever done and I’m so proud of it. It’s a blend of some of my favorite things, surreal collage, bizarre couture and decolonial science fiction. It’s a 40+ page e-zine and it’s available here for free, but I do request that If you enjoy it and can afford to you make a $1-5 donation to paypal.me/tvhp cause I’m a disabled and about to be unemployed artist and I worked so hard on this!  special thanks to @oxeneyes @sw-rm @neelytherese for lending me their beautiful faces.

Yesterday my truck was stolen, and with it a suitcase that included most of the #mendmydresspress zine distro stock. It’s going to take me awhile to recover, so I’m going to be taking a break for while. Our books will still be available (lucky for us we print on demand and I only had a copy or two of each in that suitcase) in our web store, but most everything else is gone. I hope to reopen the distro fully in the early fall. If you or someone you know makes a zine you think I should carry let me know. I’m especially interested in work by queer Black and POC artists. CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS (31st JULY 2018): MONSTER WOMEN ZINE
MONSTER WOMEN ZINE is a zine that aims to explore our existence as women in this society. what makes us women. why are we women. how do we experience womanhood. what unites us, because we’re women, and what pulls us apart, because we’re women who are different from each other. is it a happy experience? or is it a monstrous experience? or maybe both?
so mail your written work (opinion essay, poetry, short story or just your more or less brief experience) about being women to [email protected]
for visual art, we aim to show society how much pride we take in being monstrous women: mail to [email protected] illustration, photography, collage, etc portraying MONSTER WOMEN.
we have until 31st July 2018 to get together, so that the snakes sprouting from our heads get tangled in a neverending dance, birthed by our closeness and our differences.
(the zine will be available for free via the Internet and i want to be able to sell a physical copy of it for a pay-what-you-want price! also, each written piece will be translated to Spanish too).
spread the word and start creating.

please take the time to remember every member of our community who was lost from aids. our government did nothing to save them. our schools do nothing to remember them. an entire generation of lgbt culture and history has been lost, the generation just before our own. remember them when people ask why theres suddenly so many lgbt kids in this generation. we’ve always been here. we cant be stomped out. we will remember our roots and by doing so we can keep those we have lost alive.

A Wake to Rest, An End with New Beginnings
A Wake to Rest, An End with New Beginnings
Dearly beloved In Other Words Communities,
There is no softening this announcement. After 25 years, In Other Words is closing at the end of June 2018. The current members of IOW do not come to this decision lightly. We are grieving. We invite all of you who have found even a moment of clarity, love, determination, and joy to spend some time with our reasons for closing In Other Words.
