First, let’s start off with Justin Timberlake, who was greatly influenced by Al Green as a youngster! In an interview, Timberlake explained that he learned how to sing in church, and Reverend Al Green was a big inspiration for him growing up. He expressed a deep love for his R&B style while also giving him praise for adding gospel into the mix. During his childhood, Timberlake didn’t see many musical artist branching out to a variety of genres. Luckily, Green’s music caught Justin at an early age and he couldn’t let go!
Looking at this from a rhetorical standpoint, JT’s style almost mimic’s that of Green’s today. While Green is known for his soulful, smooth voice and jazzy appropriateness for R&B and gospel lovers alike, Timberlake’s voice is more toned and of a higher pitch which gives him the advantage of singing in between ranges for different styles and occasions. The musial features that JT got from Green enhanced his music career, giving him the edge he needed to merge into pop music and create his own style different from Green’s all in all. Although he sings to different audiences, people love his voice and music regardless of the genre or the inspiration behind it.
Justin Randall Timberlake is an American singer-songwriter, actor, dancer, and record producer. In the late 1990s, JT went into the music business by being the youngest member to join one of the best selling boy bands of all time, NSYNC. After breaking away from the band Timberlake began producing music from an R&B perspective. That is, until he music became so popular that he transitioned into the more “modernized” pop music that we all hear on the radio today. But what was the cause of Timberlake starting off in the R&B industry in the first place?
