Nothing in the world feels as unjust as the fate of the Disco Elysium developers.

Imagine you build this in-depth fictional setting over the course of decades with your friends, and then decide to turn it into a game for fun. You end up creating one of the most celebrated and well-written RPGs of all time and become celebrated for reviving a dying genre.

A few months later, you're fired from the company you founded for criticizing the new direction its taking. The company has the copyright not only to the game you made, but literally everything in the world of the game, which spans decades of lore you built for no profit with your group of friends.

Like, this is a nightmare that I didn't even know existed before I ran into it. To have, what is essentially a passion project that branched off from a TTRPG campaign, be pulled from your hands by a corporate entity that only yearns to abuse your creation for maximum profit. I couldn't imagine myself going on creating anything after that.

Sometimes I read a fic and am plagued with visions so strong that they need to be drawn or I will never know peace, which was the case with On Poisoning a Cherry by positivejam on AO3 😩 For as much as I love sweet, they-make-each-other-better bloodweave oh baby do I also love when these two buttheads feed off of each other in a manipulation tango where they both think they're the clever one, and this fic is just 👨‍🍳👌 scrumptious. And as someone who struggles to visualize literally anything, this was vivid ogugh it's so beautifully written-

With that said, I think it's understandable that I just couldn't stop thinking about how pretty Gale would look like this and like... look at him RAAAAAAAAAAA

Anyway, mind the tags, but if it looks up your alley you must give it a read. It's fantastic 😌

ID: 1a. Waist up of Nandor and Guillermo facing each other. Guillermo grins excitedly and folds his arms behind his back, leaning toward Nandor, and cautiously posits, "So...it was fun?" Nandor, fiddling with his hands in front of his open coat, looks off to the side impassively and replies, "It was okay." 1b. Repeat. Guillermo's expression immediately darkens and drops into irritation, staring at the viewer as if to say 'I don't know what I expected.' Nandor looks toward him and flusters, blurting out, "Um. I mean, yes." 1c. Chest up of Nandor as he leans backward defensively and grimaces as if unsure himself if what he's saying is correct, squinting at Guillermo as he grits out "We should...do it more often?"

2a. Reverse shot, chest up of Guillermo staring up at Nandor with cautious wonder. From offscreen, Nandor continues, "Since our relationship will be...evolving?" 2b. Repeat. Guillermo breaks into a shy, pink-cheeked smile and ducks his head, shrugging. He responds quietly, "...I'd like that." 2c. Zoom out to waist up of them both, center on Nandor. He grins in triumph and pumps both fists, exclaiming, "Great!" Guillermo continues smiling as he shifts his attention to Nandor's clothes, reaching for the bottommost buckle on his jacket. He says, almost to himself, "Whenever you want." /end ID
