This legit made me sob. If you've been following my Arcane posts lately, you'll know I have disabilities and was in the hospital a month ago for pacemaker icd upgrade and replacement. It's heart surgery. I made a post about Viktor that night after my surgery, and I'm sharing this one now bc I finished Arcane recently and I'm rewatching it now.

But you'll remember maybe that I said I didn't like Jayce. Mainly bc I thought of him as a bad friend and in some ways, he kinda is. But here, at this moment, what he says to Viktor is just... It hit me in the feels.

Because Viktor has been fighting to make himself other than he is this whole series, or at least since he was diagnosed. It makes me think of what Filomena said in Dota Dragons Blood, also an amazing Netflix show.

"Curing me would make me other than I am. It would make me no longer myself" and I didn't understand it at first but now I do.

Many people with disabilities feel like they are burdens to their families or friends. It's not true, but it's a feeling we have nonetheless. And yet, if we were not disabled, we wouldn't be ourselves anymore. It's intrinsically linked to our souls, as well as our bodies. We may hate our illnesses, but they make us make sense. In a way. I mean, our illnesses are not who we are, but they're a deep part of us. And so, when Jayce said this to Viktor ... He was telling him that he's perfect the way he is because that's how Jayce knows and loves him. Like Silco saying to Jinx "don't cry, you're perfect"

It's hard for me to articulate what exactly I'm thinking here. But I seriously hope y'all understand that Viktor is an extraordinarily amazing representation of those of us who are disabled. He and Jayce in this scene are the best example of a true friendship.

Embrace yourself, flaws and illnesses and all. You're you, and that's why you're perfect the way you are. Because making you anything else would not make you yourself anymore.

I don't understand why more Skyrim fans aren't talking about the Augur of Dunlain.

Especially those who like the Cyberpunk 2077 game.

Because the Augur and Johnny Silverhand are very similar. Both were once strong dudes who are now trapped in a new form that no one fully understands. Both are basically dead but also alive in a way.

If you're curious about the story of the Augur, look up Camelworks on YouTube. He did an amazing and really long video about the Augur. I always felt bad for him since Tolfdir said that he was destroyed by magic and fused to the college and its magic. I mean ... That sounds horrific! I mean, imagine that. Imagine knowing someone who was in your school and they were destroyed and turned into a ball of magic light, trapped in said school forever. But it's not even a central part where you find him. He is found in the Midden, under the college. It's a dark, bloody place where no one even goes.... If they're alive, that is.

But seriously imagine the horror of the Augur's death and how he became the being he is now. Imagine someone being in love with him and watching him die and become that.

I really want to write a story of the fall of this being. Told from the pov of him and his gf, who would likely be an elf, so she could be alive when the Dragonborn joined the college. I just wish that we knew more about the Augur. His story is so tragic and dark and I feel so bad for him.

Can we talk about Mel Medarda in Arcane now? I'm doing it regardless. Know that this post will contain spoilers for Mel in Arcane season 2. Proceed with caution if you haven't watched it yet!

"You're not my brother!"

When Mel is kidnapped by The Black Rose, Ambessa is enraged. As she should be. But when Mel watches Elora be killed by them and their power, she shoved that trauma down into a box in her mind. Because she knew Elora wouldn't want her to die here, too. So when she finds Kino down there, she was obviously shocked, distraught, and happy in a way. But then, it became clear to her that he wasnt Kino.

Somehow, Mel looked at someone wearing Kino's face, speaking with her dead brother's voice, and she killed him to protect herself and try to escape. But can we talk about how much strength that took?

I have a step sister. I don't have any blood siblings but I do have friends who I think of my siblings. But if I was trapped with them and found out they were alive after I lost them, only for me to find out that they are not them? I don't know if I would be able to kill them, even if I knew I'd have a shot at escaping. Sure, I'd likely be furious that they pretended. But still. I could never look at the face of someone I loved like family and kill them.

Mel had to do that. She did that and she (hopefully) survived. But how much strength that has to have taken for her is extraordinary. She was already suffering from watching Elora's death. She's likely also traumatized by how she ended up in that prison. But yet, Mel did what she had to in order to survive and protect herself. Now, as of posting this, act 3 is yet to have come out.

But I'm seriously thinking that Mel might not survive. Or at least, if she does, she won't be herself anymore.

I love all the characters from Arcane. Even Jayce (although he's an idiot and awful right now). But Mel? I feel a bit closer to her than even Jinx, who I love as my favorite character. Mel is a survivor with badass tendencies and she's definitely stronger than anyone thought. Yes, she manipulated Jayce. But Silco did the same to Jinx!

I'm really thinking about how much I love this show and I'm terrified for act 3 tbh. I hope Ekko and Heimerdinger are okay. Better than Jayce, anyways.
