I just simply am not a dater. I think I have been on three official dates in my life. They are like job interviews and I refuse to be romantically employed.

Quote
I watched a girl in a sundress kiss another girl on a park bench, and just as the sunlight spilled perfectly onto both of their hair, I thought to myself: ‘How bravely beautiful it is, that sometimes, the sea wants the city, even when it has been told its entire life it was meant for the shore.’

some plot bunnies
muse a lives in a big fancy house with everything either handed or catered to them. everything they do is on a whim, they'll make their driver take them out at three in the morning for a joy ride or buy out the department store because they feel like it. muse b meanwhile lives right next door, in a shabby house. its rather strange that a mansion would be right next to such a dump, but the hedge covers most of the house from view anyway and even then all you can see is the unmowed front yard. muse b has six other bothers and sisters, all younger than themselves. when muse a nearly runs over one of muse b's siblings who is chasing a ball out into the street, thats when everything begins. muse b is furious, wondering how someone could be so careless and immediately confronts muse a. everything is different over here. things are messy and sometimes sad. but there's a lot of joy and laughter, things muse a isn't used to anymore. everything in muse b's life is real and raw and so much grander than anything muse a could imagine. during a summer of hose fights and late night ice cream runs, they grow closer. but with their families so far apart in status and society, will these two ever really be together? or will their own differences tear them apart.
muse b is an aspiring musician, capable of playing many instruments including the guitar and piano. they spend many a late hour writing songs in their leather bound notebook with only a dim flashlight and a bag of lay's potato chips beside them. muse a is best friends with muse b. They met in the first grade and have been inseparable since. No one will truly get muse a like muse b does. They are so comfortable around each other, teasing, making jokes and singing songs while roasting marshmallows. muse b was the first to know about muse a's alcohol dependancy. they were the one to take muse a to someone to get help and stood by their side as they went through withdrawals. Almost everyone song muse b wrote was for muse a, even though muse a never knew. muse b had fallen hard for their best friend. everything they did was for them and it seemed only fitting that every lyric should be dedicated to them too. then muse b got offered a record deal, complete with a tour. muse b could finally do what they'd always dreamed of doing--make music and share it with the world. this is their one big chance. the only problem is, they can't leave muse a behind. *this is a m/m or f/f plot but i could be persuaded into m/f
muse a has a hard time accepting her sexuality and who she is. her life has always been about pleasing others and making her parents proud. she never wanted to let anyone down, making the honor roll every year, becoming asb president and head of the cheer squad. it was one night at a party. she was a little too drunk and available for being used. John approached her. she never really thought much of it as he leaned in to kiss her lips, only that she felt gross, like a fish out of water. still she couldn't push away. maybe she deserved this. muse a was used to the idea of getting married--to a man and settling down and having kids. why not "get used" to it right now. but a couple weeks later she found out she was pregnant. she knew she couldn't let her mother know, she would most likely stop her from continuing on to college. so she ended up heading off anyway with out a word. muse a was never really looking to be rescued but when muse b ended up being her roommate she didn't know what to think. here was someone who actually cared enough to pick up the pieces, who was gentle and understanding. if only she could open up enough to let her in.

plot bunny #001 -- see x for more
"The boy who wouldn't grow up--finally did" Peter and Wendy lived just down the street growing up and would often times travel to each others houses and venture out into the big woods behind their backyards. It stretched for miles and was the closed thing to a jungle for them. They'd climb trees, set traps for wild animals and keep an eye out for fairies. Wendy's family was more of the no-nonsense traditional group of peoples whose children retained a 4.0 GPA and went to medical or law school. Wendy always thought to have an imagination was an afterthought--just an excuse for the people with not enough brains to make it in the world of reality. And then she met Peter. Everything he did breathed magic, like there was some sort of wiseness about him. His eyes were full of secrets and mischief that you hoped he'd share. He always wore green and talked of faraway lands and days of long ago. Together, they visited those lands, spying pirates and their ships from atop oak trees. The two were just children, so set apart from the world and Wendy finally believed in everything her family had been so against. And then one day Peter was gone. His father had passed away and that being his only living relative, he was sent to live with foster parents in a rough part of the city miles and miles away. The last moment Wendy and Peter shared was the night before when they'd both snuck out of their respective houses to check on the fairy trap. "Now you have to check it every couple of hours," Peter had said in a hushed whisper. "And I know something that might attract the fairies." He leaned down to kiss her. The foster parents weren't kind to him. More often than not, he would have to try and get food on his own and if he slacked in school he would be punished. Years went by and that little boy who didn't think he'd ever grow up--did. And that girl who had finally opened her heart to love and new ideas had been squashed down again. Stopped believing.
By fate, or even a little something called magic, the two have found each other once more. But things are different now. They are no longer the two carefree children in the woods. They've faced hardships. And they haven't found any fairies.
