Seems like 5 plotlines shoved into 1 anime. Could be a clusterfuck that's interesting to watch. BAMF woman.

Uglymug, Epicfighter

His looks are -255, touching girls causes him pain, and sexual acts will literally tear him apart. Just what can our ex-salesman Shigeru get in the other world in exchange for such inconveniences…? This is an epic tale of one very ugly, but ridiculously strong man! (AniChart)

It has most of the tropes for trash power fantasy anime, but also reminds me of Frieren. Super boring first episode.

Bâan: The Boundary of Adulthood (Movie)

A story of two people in search of a new life, who leave their birthplaces—traveling to a whole different world trying to find a place where they truly belong. Set in the fictional world of Euthania, a land rich in nature with various magical races based on South East Asian Mythology, which is connected to Japan via a warp gate.

This movie was created by anime youtuber Gigguk and has lots of references to SEA culture, something that you don't see often in anime. This has a full film production team like all other anime movies do btw.

I actually started reading the novels when I saw this anime announced and my friends being excited about it. I'm on the last one and hope to finish it before watching the anime as I've heard it adapts all 3 books.

Takopi's Original Sin (6 eps)

A Happy alien, Takopi, lands on Earth with one mission: to spread happiness! When he meets Shizuka, a lonely fourth grader, he vows to bring back her smile

The task is easier said than done, however. Shizuka is bullied by her classmates, she does not have a father, and her mother is never home—though the gravity of these issues flies over the naive Takopi's head. Even so, Shizuka does have one source of happiness: her dog Chappy.

City The Animation

This town, is not just a normal town. There's laughter, love and emotional moments. An unpredictable ordinary life presented by the residents. Exciting stuffs come one after another. Welcome to CITY.

GORGEOUS animation. Same author as Nichijou. Goofy wholesome fun. Opening scene is a dad encouraging his son to wear a skirt.

Captivated, By You

Hayashi's frank, guileless demeanor quietly draws the attention of classmates and strangers as he counts all the stairs in school, photographs street signs, and dries sweet potatoes on the classroom balcony. In a world shaped by conformity, Hayashi is refreshingly and unapologetically true to himself. Conversely, Nikaidou has worked very hard to perfect a gloomy, dour façade that keeps his classmates far, far away. Another one for "I can't believe it's not BL". I'm also drawn to the main character being "weird" (autistic perhaps?). Same director as Let's Go Karaoke! this season.

Introduction to Mineralogy

High school student Tanigawa Ruri loves shiny things, so she heads to the mountains in hopes of finding some crystals for herself. There, she meets Arato Nagi, a college student majoring in mineralogy, and they start collecting minerals together. Sometimes they walk mountain trails searching for crystals, sometimes they wade into rivers looking for garnet stones, and sometimes they examine minerals Ruri has never seen before through a microscope as Nagi guides her into the world of mineral-collecting. Thus the scientific adventure begins in earnest!

Beautiful animation. The manga author studied mineralogy so this is going to be Scientifically Accurate (affectionate). Also... GL please? As a treat??

See You Tomorrow at the Food Court (6 eps)

To their classmates, Wada is a quiet rich girl while Yamamoto is an intimidating lone wolf…but what they don't know is that Wada is a mobile game addict in a passionate love-hate relationship (with a 2D character), and Yamamoto has a penchant for urban legends with eyes only for her favorite YouTuber. And their biggest not-so-secret secret—these unlikely friends meet at the food court every day after school to rant, rave, and learn what makes each other tick!

I saw the character design for the 2D character mentioned and fell in love at first sight. Unfortunate that he's a minor character that isn't even real in their universe, but this anime still has GL vibes.

The Summer Hikaru Died

Best friends Yoshiki and Hikaru have been stuck together like glue for most of their lives. Their friendship seems picturesque at first glance, but Yoshiki has noticed a shift in Hikaru's demeanor ever since one fateful summer.

The "Hikaru" that sits beside him now is nothing like his friend. Despite his physical appearance and memories remaining exactly the same, Yoshiki knows something is amiss and that the Hikaru he once knew is gone. When he brings this up, Hikaru partially transforms into an otherworldly being, threatening to kill Yoshiki if he cannot accept it—while also professing its love for him.

Wracked with grief and unable to let go of his best friend, Yoshiki struggles to move on with his life as he finds himself getting closer to the new Hikaru. At the same time, strange occurrences begin to plague their village, bringing unsettling chaos.

It doesn't have BL tag, but it has BL vibes, which is gay enough for me. Mother's Basement himself said that they are "lovers" and this one has "gay themes" so I'm not imaging it this time. It's also one of the most hyped up anime for this season.

Romance Anime (Summer 2025)

The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity

This story unfolds in a particular town where two infamous schools are in constant dispute: Chidori High, a boys' school primarily attended by students with challenging academic records, and its neighbor, Kikyo Girls' High, known for its students hailing from wealthy and prestigious families.

This anime is cute af. I love a male character that is "looks like can kill you/is a cinnamon roll". The trailer animation also looks beautiful. If you only watch 1 romance anime this season, make it this one. Plot is similar to a BL web comic I'm reading rn too.

Dealing with Mikadono Sisters Is a Breeze

Though Ayase Yuu is the son of a renowned and talented actress, he is below average in anything he does. He is entrusted to live under the care of his mother's friend and later discovers that he will also be rooming with the three sisters from his school who possess both beauty and talent. However, due to their extreme focus on their respective specializations, they show little interest in opening themselves up not only to him, but to each other as well. Nonetheless, Yuu strives to continuously support the three prodigies, as his kindness and care restores the bond between the sisters.

Femboy x tomboy romance. God I hope they keep the incest to a minimum (zero). The main goal of the main character is to have a happy family so I have faith that it will.

ChaO (movie)

In a future society where humans and mermaids coexist, Stefan works as an office employee at a shipbuilding company. One day, he is suddenly proposed to by Chao, the princess of the mermaid kingdom. He ends up living with her, and becomes drawn to Chao's pure and honest love as time passes. What will become of their relationship?

By "mermaid" this movie means anthropomorphic fish, but in a cute way. It looks fun & colorful and like a good time.

Call Out Post (Spring 2025)

The Shiunji Family Children (1 ep): Standard incest harem anime (extra derogatory). Was curious if there was a chance for BL but alas, the other brother has a normal girlfriend and is genetically related to 1 of the sisters.

Classic★Stars (1 ep): Not a single redeeming quality to this anime. The plot is ridiculous, animation bad, and every character is unlikeable. This is an inferior imitation of ClassicaLoid. Yikes. The obvious and intense Red/Blue rivalry slapped me with emotional damage AND the little blonde boy is super annoying! Awful, do not watch this one.

Once Upon a Witch's Death (<1 ep): I didn't even last 5 minutes until I was bored to tears and quit early. They implied snakes eat kibble. Yet another fictional Meg failure. Also, the old lady from Spirited Away is there??

Your Forma (2 eps): I was fine with the really pretty blonde android guy not having much of a personality, but you can't have the other main character that's human also have no personality. The structure of the first 2 eps are fast paced, without explaining anything (derogatory). Edit: I've been told that this anime is adapting Volume 2+ of the manga, which makes sense why the anime is Like That.

The Dinner Table Detective (1 ep): The main character is insufferable. Art style looks like the iphone photo smoothing that I hate so much.

Apocalypse Hotel (2 eps): It's cute and has potential to be a good emotional story in later episodes. I simply don't have the time nor energy to wait for it to get good. Doorman robot stays in my heart though.

Kowloon Generic Romance

Man (possible antagonist) wearing lipstick. This anime has a unique and interesting setting that sets up a good mystery. It also looks like it was made in the 90s (affectionate).

Miru: Paths to My Future (5 eps)

In the distant future, humans create a robot named MIRU capable of traveling through time, visiting various eras, places, and even parallel worlds. Unlike some robots, MIRU isn't equipped with weapons. Instead, it helps people overcome immense obstacles peacefully, encouraging new beginnings without violence.

MIRU continuously evolves by interacting with people, learning and growing to assist those struggling to survive. It listens to their problems and offers support. By helping others, MIRU sets off a “Butterfly Effect,” of dramatic change guiding society toward a brighter future.

Why was MIRU created? What is its purpose? Can it save the Earth and humanity from a dystopian future?

Moonrise

In a not-too-distant future, humanity has established a loosely organized world government with everything managed by an international AI network called Sapientia. Action Anime (Spring 2025)

To Be Hero X

A world where outstanding heroes are applauded. Here, "trust" creates superheroes. If people believe "he can fly," he will gain the ability to fly. Conversely, even if a hero has special powers, if he loses trust, he will also lose his powers. Trust is collected as data, and the ranking of heroes changes depending on the value. The absolute hero who stands at the top of the rankings, people call him "X". However, the ever-changing trust value makes the hero's path full of unknowns. (Crunchyroll)

The trailer shows multiple art styles ranging from Nimona to Panty and Stocking, but not together in a scene so it feels like an intentional choice that is related to the plot. I am super curious what this is about.

Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho

In the Edo period, there was a shrine maiden called "Itsukihime" in the mountain village of Kadono. Jinta, a young man who acts as the shrine maiden's guardian despite being a stranger, encounters a mysterious demon who speaks of the far future in the forest where he went to defeat it. From Edo to the Heisei era, this huge Japanese fantasy series follows a demon man who travels through time while continuously questioning the meaning of wielding a sword. (MyAnimeList)

Another one that sold me on animation quality in the trailer. Episode 1 is an hour long and took me 2 days to get through it.

This anime seems cute and fairly wholesome. You don't see ogres depicted like this very often. Also the supporting characters are a cute blonde boy, a cute goth boy, and a cat girl.

The Gorilla God's Go-To Girl

Honey Lemon Soda (1 ep): The main girl is so helpless and for what?? It annoyed me. The blonde love interest actually tells her to rely on him instead of learning to become independent. Also art style looks like modernized Clannad. I couldn't stand watching any longer.

Promise of Wizard (<1 ep): 100% mobile visual novel game turned anime. Badly.

Anyway, I'm Falling in Love with You (2 eps): The main plot doesn't even make sense. All activities are canceled bc of the "pandemic"... except school is running as normal without a mask in sight. If the writers can't even follow their own rules, than I don't have hope they can write a compelling story.
