Sexually transmitted diseases: What you need to know, prevention and care
Tumblr media
Diseases spread by sexual contact are called sexually transmitted diseases, commonly known as STDs. The transmission can happen through any sexual activity that involves vagina, penis, mouth, or anus. To start with, STDs are very common among people as they are spread easily. Some STDs are curable and some are not. So the best way to stay away from STDs is follow the old saying “prevention is better than cure”.
There are many types of STDs. The most common types of STDs are:
HIV: HIV virus causes acquired immunodeficiency(AIDS). It is spread through bodily fluids such as semen, vaginal fluid, or blood. It attacks and weakens the immune system Pubic lice: Also known as ‘crabs’. Presence of tiny insects in pubic hair. Transmitted through skin-to-skin contact, clothing, bedding, etc. Chlamydia: Caused by bacteria and can have long-effects on fertility. Passed during sexual contact. Gonorrhea: Caused by bacteria and can have long-effects on fertility. Passed during sexual contact. Syphilis: Caused by bacteria. Transferred through a cut in the skin or through contact with a partner’s syphilis sore. Can cause long-term health issues. Trichomoniasis: Caused by microscopic parasites. It is spread through sex. Vaccination for children: What you need to know
Tumblr media
Routine vaccinations for babies and children is a normal practice. As soon as the baby is born, the parents are handed over a complete vaccination schedule with all the information about the types of vaccines and the diseases they protect against, along with the age at which these vaccinations are to be taken. It is very important that vaccination schedule be adhered to properly in order to protect your babies and children against various harmful, contagious diseases. All diseases we are advised to vaccinate against are considered serious that can cause severe health conditions, sometimes leading to death.
Vaccinations start from as early as the birth of the child, acting as a shield that can protect your children from dangerous diseases. Most of the vaccinations are injected through needles, but some are given as drops from the mouth. Once the vaccine enters the blood streams, they enable the body to make the right sort of antibodies to fight a particular disease. When a vaccinated person comes in contact with the infected person, the body’s natural defense mechanism — the immune system responds quickly to stop the disease from developing and reducing its impact. The process of both receiving a vaccine and developing immunity to the disease is called immunization. Generally, it takes about 2 weeks after vaccination for the immune system to respond fully.

Cause, Treatment, And Cure Of Malaria: Is The Disease Just As Deadly As The Others?
Tumblr media
When you go to the doctor because of a fever, your doctor may ask about your recent travel history. This may be the doctor trying to find out if you have Malaria. So, what has travel history to do with Malaria? Before we go there, let’s start with what malaria is. Malaria, a mosquito-borne disease, affects the liver first. Within a few days, they enter your bloodstream and target your red blood cells. Once they start destroying the red blood cells, you may start showing symptoms. Some of the symptoms include feeling cold, fever, headache, vomiting, sweating, feeling tired. While malaria shows hardly any symptoms for some people and does no harm to their health, it has proven to be fatal for others. What Causes Malaria? The bite from a mosquito that has been infected with the Plasmodium parasite causes Malaria to enter your body. Malaria enters through blood transmission. Hence, it could be from a shared blade or syringe. It could also be from a blood transfusion and organ transplant. The most common reason is by visiting or being in a place where the parasite can thrive. This is why your doctor asks for recent travel history when you show certain symptoms.

Lifestyle Changes For Better Heart Health
Tumblr media
It goes without saying that maintaining good heart health is essential for a healthy life. The kind of lifestyle we are often forced to follow leads us to deal with many health issues. Everyone knows what to do for a healthy heart— a balanced diet, proper exercise, and everything else we were taught in school; but how exactly do we follow this healthy lifestyle while leading a busy life? That question needs a totally different answer. Keep reading to find out. What Changes Should We Make and How To Make Them? Eating habits: No, you don’t have to completely change your diet. Instead, start slow with small changes. If you have dessert every day, change it to once a week. If you don’t have the time to cook and are forced to order from restaurants, order healthier options than fast foods. Switch sugary drinks to water or fresh juices. If you cook, then switch to healthier oils, and other alternatives. Eating healthy is key for a healthy heart and these tiny changes will help without it all being overwhelming. Being active: Hitting the gym is amazing but not everyone can. However, staying active is imperative for your heart. Cardio exercises don’t necessarily need a gym. Finding one hour from your day for exercises is ideal. With the option of gym apps, online classes, YouTube tutorials, finding a workout routine that suits you is easy and accessible. You can also walk while you are on a call and switch to stairs instead of taking the elevator.
