Trolling is just bullying with a mask of anonymity behind a computer screen. Some people search for ways to upset others and this can make for a very disheartening online world. The internet and social media can be used for so much good, but this is tarnished by those who see hurting or even just bothering others as a form of entertainment. Some trolls are simply trying to prank or joke with others, while some are in it to cause legitimate harm. It is so important for us to protect ourselves from this cyber bullying as it can degrade one’s mental and emotional health over time. We have the ability to remove ourselves from the situation, though it is difficult when the conversation becomes heated, and to keep ourselves from returning the inappropriate conduct. There are multiple types of trolling to watch out for as well, which makes keeping our online life safe even harder.
