mckenzie was nervous about getting into another relationship following the first one failing to do anything than make her lose the confidence and spark that she use to have a couple of years ago. yet, somehow, lexi made her realise not everything had to be bad in life. she could be in a happy relationship with someone that actually cared enough about her to check in and ask her how she was feeling. mckenzie's eyes rolled playfully as lexi mentioned that the lime wasn't exactly what she wanted to taste tonight. "you're such a flirt, lex." she watched as lexi licked the line of salt from the back of her hand, swallowed down the shot in one go , and then hooked her fingers into mckenzie's waistband to pull her in close to take the lime before wrapping her arms around her to keep her close once she was finished. she wrapped her own arms around the back of lexi's neck in return. mckenzie could still taste the tangy lime taste in her mouth once the fruit was out of there. "all that without pulling a face too? impressive."
lexi knew exactly how mckenzie felt about trent. that rat she was supposed to call a human was honestly one of the worst people she’d ever met. she’d dealt with her share of jerks before, but the way he treated mckenzie made her want to break her usual no-violence rule. she’d never let anyone hurt mckenzie like that again. "what can i say, i have the best ideas," she teased, sticking her tongue out at mckenzie with a grin. "oh, don’t tempt me, or i’ll keep calling you ‘babygirl,’" she added, shooting her a playful wink. watching mckenzie rub the lime along her bottom lip, lexi licked her own lips, a mischievous glint in her eye. "not exactly what i’d like to taste, but i’ll keep it pg," she said with a wink. she licked the salt from the back of her hand, took her shot, and set the glass down, fingers hooking into the sides of mckenzie’s waistband to pull her closer. grinning, she took the lime from mckenzie’s lips and wrapped her arms around her waist, savoring the moment. "now that was great," she murmured, still smirking.

mckenzie's whole viewpoint on love was challenged and changed due to her first relationship with trent and it took her a while to get back into the groove of loving herself again after it. trent made her feel insecure around other girls. he was never proud of showing mckenzie off to his friends and she felt hidden away from the limelight with him. during arguments between them she would be compared to whatever other girls he knew and hung out with at the time too. looking back - everything about that relationship had sucked and she wasn't sure why she put up with him for so long. she hoped no other girl put themselves through a relationship with trent ever again. nobody deserved to feel worthless in the presence of a guy like that. mckenzie looked at one of the pieces of lime laid out on the table. "never mind, i prefer your plan to mine." mckenzie picked up a slice of lime and checked it over to make sure it was fresh and sweet looking. she wanted lexi to get a good tasting one. "call me baby girl again and i might just swoon." mckenzie lightly rubbed the lime against lexi's bottom lip before placing it gently between her own lips as a playful expression crossed over her face.
before she could see mckenzie truly happy, she had to watch her go through hell. lexi noticed how she tensed up whenever trent was around. he was such an asshole, and seeing him talk down to her best friend, making her feel unworthy, was painful. she wanted so badly to tell mckenzie she deserved better, that she didn’t have to put up with his garbage, and that she’d be happier with someone who actually cared. but lexi also knew sometimes that kind of honesty could make people defensive, and she couldn’t risk losing her. if mckenzie walked away from her, it’d shatter her. now that she was finally with someone who loved her, it was a relief. “if they’re smart, they’ll see through him in five minutes flat,” lexi said, reaching over to tuck a stray lock of hair behind mckenzie’s ear, smiling. “but let’s not waste a second on him tonight,” she added as they headed inside. “so, ‘help out’ how, exactly?” she teased with a smirk. “because I was thinking, you put a lime slice between your lips, and after I lick the salt and take the shot, I go in for the lime.” she shrugged, grinning. “but hey, if you’re into that flirty bartender move, you call the shots.” she winked. “i’m at your mercy, babygirl.”

mckenzie's relationship with lexi was a lot different to the one with trent. the difference was in the details. she couldn't believe that she'd put up with trent for so long. that guy was the biggest jerk in the world. he didn't know what or who he wanted at the time. mckenzie's confidence dropped with him and she never went back to feeling the same way she did before dating him. she never realised lexi was crushing on her for the longest time which sucked because everything between them could've blossomed before this point. mckenzie thought lexi was beautiful - even without having a crush. falling in love with lexi was easy though. she was easy to love. the girl was gorgeous, smart, witty, and confident. "i hope no other girl ever puts up with the bullshit i put up with him." mckenzie knew other girls would fall into his trap because he was semi-attractive and could flirt with girls. he'd trap them with fake compliments and ruin their lives. mckenzie laughed as lexi mentioned that she should've brought a pen and paper and wrote that he was an asshole and put it on his back. she could imagine the laughs that would get from other people. although, they were both better than that, and wouldn't stoop lowly. she lead them both indoors and chuckled as lexi mentioned that she would have to help her with tequila shots. "help you out how, baby?" mckenzie stopped at the bar table and pour two shots out for them. "did you want me to tip your head back and pour the drink in your mouth like one those flirty bartenders do?"
lexi hadn’t been in many relationships, and the one guy she dated in high school was enough to make her realize guys just weren’t for her. the thought of kissing one now made her pretend to gag. she had spent a lot of time casually dating women, finding hookups on apps and keeping things no-strings-attached, thinking it was easier that way… until she met mckenzie. right from the start, even as best friends, lexi knew she wanted more. mckenzie was so gorgeous, and lexi was ready to give her the world. but back then, mckenzie was with trent, and that made lexi bury her feelings deep down, trying to avoid the heartache. watching her best friend date someone who was such an obvious jerk was hard—too hard. seeing how trent hurt her over and over wasn’t something lexi could just stand by and accept. at first, she tried to hold back, but when she realized it wasn’t a one-time thing, her frustration showed. she ignored trent, talked over him, and didn’t bother hiding how much she couldn’t stand him. she didn’t owe him anything. "he deserves to be alone," lexi muttered, her lips curling into a smirk. "i should’ve brought a pen and paper to write 'i’m an asshole' on his back so everyone would know." her tone was playful, but there was a real edge behind it. when mckenzie told her she was all hers now, lexi's smile grew wider. she gently cupped her best friend’s face and planted a quick kiss on her lips, feeling the thrill of finally having her. "finally," she grinned, following mckenzie's lead toward the bar. "oh, i was gonna get wasted tonight no matter what, baby," she chuckled. "but you’ll have to help me with those tequila shots." her voice was flirty as they made their way inside, the night finally feeling like it was going exactly the way it was meant to.

mckenzie's relationship with trent was not romantic in the slightest. mckenzie didn't have high hopes for love as she came from an upbringing where her own parents didn't show love towards people who didn't have the same opinions and values as them. it was gross. mckenzie didn't know how she survived so long being in that house. she knew her parents wouldn't be thrilled when she finally admitted to being in a relationship with a girl when she got the guts to say it. still, mckenzie didn't care how they reacted because she'd have lexi. lexi was the first person in mckenzie's life that made her feel loved. she loved mckenzie - flaws and all. "i don't have any doubts about it." lexi showed trent up in every way possible. she was his opposite. trent was a horrid person and she was glad to see the back of him. what kind of guy was raised to hurt his girlfriends feelings and make her feel insecure and less than other girls? mckenzie smiled against the other girls lips as she was pulled closer to her by the neck. everything about mckenzie's relationship with lexi was so different. "no girl is going to stay with him. i let him walk over me in the past." mckenzie hoped other girls didn't fall into his trap like she had done. she could have only wished to have known lexi's feelings back then. mckenzie didn't know lexi had developed romantic feelings towards her during that period of time. she hadn't even realised that she liked girls then. mckenzie had been dating guys at that point in life. mckenzie brushed the girls blonde locks out of her face and looked deeply into the girl's eyes with a smug smile. "mhm, i'm all yours." mckenzie reached down to hold the girls hand and started walking them towards the house to get some alcohol. it was about time to drink. "come on, let's get wasted and forget all about him."
lexi rolled her eyes as mckenzie told her not to punch her ex-boyfriend. she wasn't the kind to get in trouble willingly, but he hurt mckenzie, and she would have wanted to show him how she felt about it. when mckenzie was dating him, lexi made it obvious she didn't like him. she hated the shit out of him. no one should be treated the way her ex treated her. "you're lucky i don't want to get in trouble, but i feel like if i hit him right on his cheekbone, i would leave a pretty nice reminder of how much of an asshole he is," she chuckled, a playful smile on her lips as she turned to look at the brunette. how could someone treat mckenzie the way she did when she was literally an angel on earth? even if she was mad at him, that kiss... that kiss solved all her problems. she forgot about everyone, her hands moved to the back of her neck, pulling her closer, if that was possible. she was in love, and no one would be able to change that. "i hope he doesn't find anyone ever, fuck his stupid ass." those last words came out of her lips louder; she wished he heard her. as her girlfriend cupped her cheeks, she looked at her, focusing on her pretty eyes. "you don't have to be sorry. you were in a relationship, not a good one, but a relationship, and i didn't know if i was ready to lose you because of being selfish," she confessed. "but the only thing i care about is that you're happy, and you're mine now."
#let's give mckenzie's ex boyfriend a name#imma call him trent so i can type a name instead of just putting ex boyfriend from now on lol

mckenzie loved being with someone who made her feel so wanted. mckenzie's ex boyfriend didn't want to be seen around mckenzie at parties when he could flirt with other girls and cause a bit of mischief with them. she could remember being glued to the walls waiting for him to come back so they could leave and go back home again. still, he never rushed and left mckenzie waiting there looking all alone. mckenzie didn't even get introduced to any of his friends at the time almost like she was a secret that he didn't want other people to know anything about. lexi, however, was the opposite and wanted to be seen at mckenzie's side which was sweet. she felt appreciated by lexi. she didn't know lexi had been crushing on her while she was in her previous relationship so it came as a bit of a surprise the first time lexi admitted to have feelings for her as more than just a friend. "don't punch him. i don't want you getting into any trouble tonight." mckenzie's priority was protecting lexi and making sure she was okay. her ex boyfriend could rot for all that she cared anymore. mckenzie's hands pressed to lexi's waist as the other closed the distance between them and kissed her like she wanted everybody to see how in love they were with each other. she couldn't help but to smile into the kiss as she deepened it some more. "yeah, fuck him. i hope he doesn't find anyone else to lead on and treat like that." mckenzie pulled back from lexi's lips and moved her hands to hold the girls face. "you've loved me from the start and i'm sorry i didn't notice that right away."
hearing mckenzie talk about how happy she was just to be seen with her made lexi’s heart ache. it shouldn’t have to be such a big deal—wanting to be seen together was the bare minimum. but her ex-boyfriend had messed with her head so much that even the simplest things felt monumental. the thought of him made lexi's blood boil, and she had half a mind to go over there and knock some sense into him. "that’s exactly what i want too," she smiled, pressing a soft kiss to mckenzie’s cheek. she wanted the world to see them together, to see how amazing they looked as a couple and feel a little jealous. mckenzie was the prettiest girl lexi had ever laid eyes on, and she was sure everyone at the party would have wanted to be with her. as she noticed a guy walking nearby, a wave of anger surged through her. "i want to punch him, i’m already mad at him," she muttered, turning her attention back to the brunette. "fuck him." she closed the distance between them, pressing her lips to mckenzie’s in a kiss that was both defiant and full of affection.

mckenzie could remember getting invited to parties only to be left against some wall somewhere holding a red solo cup full of cheap alcohol while she watched her boyfriend at the time wrapping his arms around one girl to the next while she was abandoned until he remembered he had actually had a girlfriend to take back home. mckenzie didn't really love parties with him. she didn't get introduced to anybody. sometimes she thought her boyfriend felt embarrassed to be seen with her which made her feel like complete and utter shit. why did he treat other girls so differently? "i'm happy that you want to be seen with me. i feel appreciated when i'm with you." lexi didn't just push mckenzie aside and pretend like she didn't know who she was. mckenzie's heart dropped once lexi mentioned that her ex had made his entrance. still, nowadays, she felt insecure in his presence. that would probably never change. mckenzie's hand brushed some of lexi's blonde locks backwards with a smug look. "don't get mad at him. get him mad."
lexi was somehow glad she wasn't into men. she knew not everyone was nice, but she had been with a couple of women she wouldn't choose either. partying before was more of a mess to lexi. she couldn't remember a party where she didn't end up waking up at somebody else's place. maybe not the times she was with mckenzie, but other times she was ready to have a good time with any girl who wanted to give her a bit of attention. she wasn't ashamed, but she wouldn't say she was proud of it. "fuck them," she smiled, a warm smile on her lips. "but now you have me here so you won't feel uncomfortable," she promised. she was feeling amazing with mckenzie next to her, the music was nice… but then he had to show up. "i don't know if i want to punch him or take you away," she confessed, "your stupid ex just walked in. i'm really mad."

mckenzie could remember being sort of a wallflower at some parties in the past. mckenzie's ex boyfriend wouldn't take her under his wing and introduce her to people. she felt insecure with him back in those days because he didn't want to be seen with her whenever they were out at places as a couple. she use to look lonely - counting down the hours until he would return back to her again so they could go back home. mckenzie raised a brow and lifted her drink as lexi said guys scared her a little bit. "yeah, guys tend to do that. they're good at talking shit and making everybody around them feel uncomfortable." mckenzie had first hand experience with dudes. lexi's kisses were welcomed and mckenzie pulled back with a smile after each one. mckenzie leaned into lexi's space until the girl's focus went over to somebody else at the party. she didn't look at who lexi was looking at. she kind of looked annoyed. "what's wrong, baby? is everything alright?"
partying was something lexi loved. she could never say no to a good time. but since she and mckenzie started dating, it had been even better. she no longer had to hide how much she was into mckenzie. in fact, sometimes she worried about drinking too much and accidentally revealing her huge crush on the brunette. now, she could dance, have fun, and drink with her girlfriend. "you're more than welcome, but you gotta pay the tax," she said with a smile, leaning in to give mckenzie a quick kiss. "oh, i know, but the guys are the ones who scare me," lexi chuckled. the blonde smiled against mckenzie's lips as she leaned in for another kiss, loving every second of it. "being tipsy and handsy with your girlfriend," she added, wrapping an arm around mckenzie's waist. she looked around the place to find their friends, but what she saw wasn't what she expected. "oh, shit."

mckenzie loved a good party - especially one when she could get dressed up for it. mckenzie smiled widely as lexi brought her favourite drink over to her without mckenzie so much as asking her to go and get one. lexi was the absolute sweetest. "aw, you're adorable. thank you for getting me this." she started to sip on the drink watching lexi's smile spread across her lips as she looked around at the full place. "girls and guys, lex remember i'm into everybody now and not just guys anymore." mckenzie's free hand reached down and fisted against the material of lexi's shirts. "well, i'm into you. i wouldn't dream of thinking of anybody else with you around." mckenzie leaned forwards to press a kiss against lexi's mouth - not caring much about anybody else's opinion on them from going from best friends to new lovers. "yeah, i love party nights. what's a better feeling than getting tipsy and feeling free?"
the girls never stopped partying together. lexi knew some of their friends weren't into going out with their partners, but for her, it was just another chance to hang out with mckenzie, and she loved it. they used to party back when they were just friends, but now that they were dating, it was even better. lexi could dance as close as she wanted to mckenzie, feeling the rush and happiness that the brunette brought her. as the blonde walked back to her girlfriend with her favorite drink, a big smile spread across her lips. "here's to the hottest girlfriend in the world," she playfully murmured, handing her the glass. "this place is so packed tonight, i didn't expect it to be this busy. i'll have to use a stick to keep the guys away from you," she joked, her arm snugly wrapping around mckenzie's waist. "are you having fun?" \ @mckenzie-monroe

mckenzie wished she was brought up with supportive parents but unfortunately she hadn't even been blessed with understanding ones never mind anything else. mckenzie's parents were frustrated when she split with her ex boyfriend even after she told them how horrible she felt like she'd been treated by him. she could remember her father saying that's just how relationships were like sometimes. mckenzie couldn't stand the double standards. lexi's sister seemed nice enough. hopefully, mckenzie and willow would be able to build a better friendship with time. lexi seemed to be close with willow which was nice. the girls seemed to get on well. "lexi's past with girls is something that's she gone into in a great length of details with me in the past. she use to tell me about her experiences when we were just friends." mckenzie was interested in listening to lexi's stories of the past. lexi had spoke about sleeping with slightly older women. she giggled as willow mentioned that lex's parents would probably paint everything rainbow if they did end up getting married. "your sister is the one that's saved me from the depths of hell (men). i should be the one thanking her for showing me a whole new world i didn't realise i could be part of."
willow and lexi were really lucky to have parents who were supportive in most parts of their lives. it's true that sometimes it was a bit much, and they wished they had more differences to chat about with their friends to sound more up-to-date. but deep down, they knew they had good parents. "i thought so, sometimes she can't keep anything to herself," she chuckled, "but i'm glad she's open to talk about that," willow smiled. the brunette knew mckenzie shouldn't feel intimidated; after all, lexi loved her. maybe they hadn't told her that yet, but she could tell. those older women had nothing on mckenzie. "hey, i know it's pretty early, but i was teasing you. i just wanted to see their reaction," she chuckled. "aww, i want a gay wedding. i bet our parents will paint everything rainbow," she teased, nudging the other's side playfully. "aww, you're cute. maybe one day i'll follow in your footsteps," the brunette nodded. "i'm really happy for you, mckenzie. you're happy, and i'm glad you're treated the way you deserve, girl."

mckenzie always thought that lexi was drop dead gorgeous from the moment that they first became friends without thinking about any about underlining feelings. mckenzie's first impression on lexi was that she was cute, protective and really kind. she wasn't use to someone wanting to make sure she okay - so it was new to mckenzie having somebody wanting to check in on her and make sure she was good. lexi's crush on mckenzie was a surprise and something that made her feel all giddy inside when she learned about her best friend's true feelings. she didn't think she would've ever realised if the blonde hadn't admitted it. "some people like to ruin other people's fun, huh? i'll be waiting outside for you once you've finished getting changed." mckenzie didn't care about the worker's looks as she exited the fitting room with a smile knowing she was going to walk out of this place with lexi anyway. she'd just had her first girl kiss. it was a moment that she wasn't going to forget. mckenzie's fingers intertwined with lexi's as soon as the girl walked up to her side. she playfully nudged lexi's hip with her own one. "is home an option?"
when lexi first met mckenzie, she couldn’t help but think she was the hottest person she’d ever seen. she pushed those thoughts aside as they became friends, but deep down, she knew she’d always have a thing for the brunette. mckenzie was fun, caring, and beautiful – anyone would fall for her, that was for sure. lexi had been with other women in the past, but none of them compared to mckenzie. she never expected to end up dating her best friend, but she wouldn’t change a thing. the brunette was the best thing that had ever happened to her. “ugh, people here are so annoying,” she chuckled, overhearing a worker’s voice. as mckenzie kissed her, a smile crept onto her lips. she closed the curtain as her girlfriend exited the fitting room, looking up with a wide smile on her face. she still couldn’t believe it. “give me a second,” she chuckled, getting undressed and putting her clothes back on before taking her own suit and her girlfriend’s dress. “i’m paying for this, and you get to choose where we go next, baby,” she mused, her free hand reaching out to hold the brunette’s.

mckenzie's parents probably wouldn't be supportive once they found out mckenzie had a girlfriend which she was already thinking about once she introduced them. mckenzie's parents came from a time where they would judge people from being different from themselves which kind of sucked when they didn't paint a good picture of mckenzie from the moment her last relationship ended. she didn't tell them about her ex boyfriend and how she'd been treated because she knew they wouldn't care. every fault seemed to come back to mckenzie and how she supposedly acted out. "lexi's told me all about the past hook ups and the experiences she shared with them." mckenzie knew lexi was more experienced with woman. she wouldn't call it intimidating by any means but she knew it wasn't where her expertise was at this precise moment in time. mckenzie would learn with time though. it wouldn't take too long to start picking things up. practice made perfect. eventually getting married in the distant future wasn't a thought that had crossed mckenzie's mind as of yet. this relationship was too new to think about anything like that. "i don't think marriage is something we've had a conversation about yet. i wouldn't be opposed to it though." mckenzie loved lexi and hoped one day they would be in love enough to maybe take that next step. "i'm sure you will find someone one day, willow. i'm sure of it. if not a boy, maybe follow my tactics and try out a girl instead."
their family could get pretty messy sometimes, all caught up in what others might think or how they'd react, but deep down, they knew they loved each other. as far as willow knew, mckenzie's ex-boyfriend was a real jerk, treated her like she was nothing. but willow was certain her sister would never do anything to hurt her. she'd never dare to hurt mckenzie. "ah, that phase," she chuckled, shaking her head at mckenzie's words. "she used to be on a dating app, out almost every night," she told her sister's girlfriend. "sorry for the details, but i bet you probably know more than i do," she nodded. "i'm her sister, not her best friend," willow shrugged. "but yeah, after coming out, miss lexi was a bit of a mess," she confessed. at mckenzie's words, willow raised her eyebrows in surprise. "oh, i was just teasing, but it sounds like you wouldn't be opposed to a wedding," she teased, wiggling her eyebrows at the other as she took another bite of her doughnut. "ugh, i feel so single every time you say that," she chuckled. "i'm glad you two are together, not just because this way lexi is less annoying, but because you're made for each other."

mckenzie's parents were going to have mixed feelings when she eventually went to them and mentioned she was seeing a girl now. mckenzie's parents were old fashioned and didn't even really accept her ex boyfriend because he wasn't what they had in mind for him. lexi was going to be a surprise to say the least. mckenzie's parents knew they were friends but that's about all at the moment. mckenzie knew her parents would raise their eyebrows in surprise and ask a hundred questions all at once. she didn't know if they were going to be accepting but she didn't really care either. nobody's opinion was going to change mckenzie's feelings. she was falling in love with lexi and that was that. nothing or nobody would make her think otherwise. "little kenzie would be surprised that she's now falling in love with her best friend." mckenzie didn't see them as a couple in the past but now she couldn't want or think of anyone but lexi to call her girlfriend. lexi loved mckenzie so much that she felt it. past relationships had felt complicated but not this one. lexi made love feel easy. mckenzie's eyes went wide one of the worker's outside the room told them only one person was supposed to go in fitting room at one time. she quickly kissed lexi back before nodding and exiting the fitting room with a smirk - not minding the looks. "sure thing! get changed. i'll be waiting outside the fitting rooms for you."
as the other told her to get used to her kissing her all the time, she couldn’t help but smile. when she saw mckenzie freezing, she panicked, but now she was sure that she had taken the right step at the right time. she was happy mckenzie felt comfortable with her; she wouldn’t want it any other way. “oh, for sure, you’re the best thing that happened to him. he was stupid for letting you go,” lexi assured. she was happy he did, after all; she was going to be there for mckenzie no matter what. she was stuck with her now. “oh, i do appreciate you,” she assured, a smile on her lips. “fuck yes, i appreciate you,” lexi chuckled, her hands resting around the brunette. “she really won,” she nodded before she felt the other’s lips against hers. “nobody matters to me except for you,” she repeated, truth spilled in each word. she was about to kiss mckenzie again when she heard the worker outside talking to them. “only one person per fitting room,” the male mused. lexi leaned to press her lips against mckenzie’s. “let’s not get in trouble. let me get these off, and we can… eat something?”

mckenzie didn't realise how easy love could be with someone until lexi decided to show her that she didn't need to be anything but herself to receive the love she'd deserved from the start. mckenzie's ex boyfriend made mckenzie feel like she needed to put in hard work to get the tiniest amount of attention and that had really sucked. she'd constantly been compared to his friends girlfriends at parties. mckenzie could remember him shoving her away from him one time when she asked if they could go back home because she didn't have anyone to talk too there. the girls all looked down on mckenzie. maybe because she wasn't in the same popular cliques? mckenzie's ex boyfriend usually hung around with bleach blonde girls with the tiny waists and massive boobs. lexi had been mckenzie's constant from the start of their friendship. she knew she could always rely on her best friend to talk to about her ups and downs. "oh yeah! lexi mentioned to me that she use to date suburban's mom at the start." mckenzie would ask about the older ladies too and question lexi about her experiences with them. maybe that's the point she should've realised that she might've also been into girls too. still, she'd been oblivious up to a certain point. mckenzie rolled her eyes with a chuckle as willow mentioned that she should picking a dress for their wedding. "oh stop that. i don't know if she would every marry me." mckenzie was happy to know lexi seemed to talk about her to her parents and sister. "she's made me believe in love again."
willow was the one that had told lexi a couple of times in the past not to tell mckenzie how she felt. she wanted to see her sister happy, but at the same time, if she acted on her feelings while mckenzie was on a relationship, it could have probably ended up badly. and that wasn't what willow wanted. she wanted the best for her sister. and now, looking back, things turned out amazing. they were together, and they seemed to belong together. she was happy for them both. they talked about each other the same way; they were falling for each other. "yeah, that happens, partners blind us sometimes," she shrugged. "i mean, my parents did. i was shocked as well; i wasn't expecting someone being that happy to have a gay daughter," she laughed. "she was so embarrassed at first, then she started embracing it, and well, she went from suburban mothers to having a girlfriend. i think it worked just fine for her," she chuckled. "awww," the brunette smiled at her words. "i think i will start picking a dress for your wedding. whenever you know the theme, let me know," she teased, a smile on her lips. "god, you're so sickeningly in love. you should listen to you two talk; you talk the same way about the other," she said softly. "you make me believe in love. you're like a rom-com."

mckenzie hadn't been expected to be kissed in that moment but she wouldn't have wanted to happen any other way if she was being honest. it was in the heat of a moment- caught between two people who were falling in love with each other. nothing about the kiss was faked. it happened naturally without lexi over-thinking. mckenzie kissed lexi back a couple of seconds afterwards knowing it was the right time and that she wanted to do it. "you better get use to being kissed all the time." kissing another woman felt normal and like something mckenzie could keep on doing. she questioned if it was going to feel different but alas it didn't feel any different to kissing her ex boyfriends. "he'll learn one day that i was probably the best thing that every happened to him. when he realises it'll be too late. i'm already happily falling in love with someone else who actually appreciates me now." mckenzie's hand gently stroked over lexi's cheeks as she looked into the other girl's eyes. she couldn't help but to smile as the girl mentioned that teenage lexi would never imagine this happening. "teenage lexi won, huh?" she leaned forwards and pressed her mouth against lexi's again. lexi's arms comfortably wrapped around mckenzie's waist. "nobody matters to me anymore except for you, lex."
it hadn’t really crossed lexi’s mind to kiss mckenzie in that situation. she had dreamed about that moment for longer than anyone would have expected. her crush on the brunette had been there even before mckenzie started dating her ex-boyfriend. and it happened without her planning it, and it was amazing. she felt butterflies in her stomach, and mckenzie wanting to kiss her again gave her enough confidence to press her lips against hers once more. it was their first time sharing such an intimate moment, and lexi would remember it all her life. “the pretty girl will be glad to get all the kisses you want to give her,” she smiled. “i want to kick his balls for breaking your heart,” she pointed out. “but i’m glad you’re over him and you actually chose me. teen lexi would never imagine this actually happened,” she pointed out. “i don’t plan on letting anyone treat you better than me, so you’ll have to deal with me. sorry, kenzie, you should have thought about that before agreeing to go to that party with me,” she chuckled, her hands moving to rest against her waist. “i want to see his face, but i’m pretty sure he’ll call me out for it,” she pointed out. “that or he would end up saying something stupid, so in fact i don’t want to see it. i prefer you being happy than annoying that jerk you dated.

mckenzie didn't realise lexi had a crush on her until it was too late. she didn't realise. mckenzie's parents didn't really know what was going on in mckenzie's life because they didn't pay much attention to anything apart from themselves. she didn't tell them what was going on in her life half of the time because they would usually just ignore her anyway. mckenzie didn't even know if her parents know about how her ex boyfriend and the way he treated her during that relationship. she knew her parents knew lexi was her best friend but she didn't know if that they were dating at this stage. she wouldn't tell them yet. mckenzie knew that they'd either make a big deal about it or tell her to break things apart and she didn't want either of those things happening any time soon. lexi made mckenzie feel human again. she'd spent so much time feeling worthless and under appreciated. lexi turned all of that upside down. "yeah? i didn't realise she was crushing on me until after my first relationship with my ex boyfriend came to an end. i was oblivious to lexi's feelings. i didn't realise she saw me as more as a girl crush for her." mckenzie always thought that lexi was attractive. lexi had a really pretty face with big blue eyes and a body sculpted like some goddess. "you and your parents brought lesbian pride balloons once she told you and come out to everyone?" that was super sweet. mckenzie wished her parents were accepting. "please find it out when you get the chance. i can't wait to see her expression in it." mckenzie giggled slightly as willow playfully nudged her side and thanked her for not breaking lexi's heart. that wasn't in the plans. she hoped lexi would be her always. "she's stuck with me, willow. i'm afraid that i'm in this relationship for the long run." mckenzie loved being in love again. "i'm falling more and more for lexi every day."
if lexi talked about her all the time? all willow knew was that all the time she asked who she was texting, it was always mckenzie, and every time she was going out, it was with mckenzie. and she was happy her sister had left all those randevous she used to have; she seemed to have found someone who she liked a lot, more than just for a night. "she's always talking about you; since she came out, she had never mentioned anyone's name; yours is the first one that she ever mentions and, to be honest, you're lucky everyone seems to like you so far," she teased. she didn't know mckenzie's ex, but all she knew was that her sister would be a million times better; she could tease her for days, but she loved lexi, and she knew anyone who had her as her girlfriend would be lucky. "love is not always worth all the pain it causes you," she mused, letting out a sigh. "at least you don't have to worry about that now." mckenzie shrugged. willow took another bite of the doughnut, smiling back at mckenzie. "i hope so," she nodded. "i need someone to spill my sister's secrets," willow teased, winking playfully at her sister's girlfriend. "you can say that we were always close; she's all confident and charming now but i showed her that," the brunette pointed out playfully. "i feel i helped her become more confident." at least that's how she felt it. they became closer after lexi came out to her. "we've been closer since the day she came out to me; you should have seen her crying because she was scared of us leaving. the truth is, the next day my mom bought the biggest balloons and nearly threw a party because of how happy it was for her," she explained. "our parents can be annoying, but i'm glad they were always there for lexi," she smiled. "i have a picture of her face telling our parents she didn't need a column of lesbian pride balloons; her face is amazing; i will have to find it for you," she chuckled. "thanks for being there for her and for not breaking her heart," she nudged the brunette's side playfully.

mckenzie couldn't remember the last time her ex boyfriend had kissed her out in public. he'd always made her feel like she wasn't worthy of loving outside the house. mckenzie knew that he felt humiliated and embarrassed introducing her to his friends like she was something to be ashamed about in comparison to all of their girlfriends. she could feel her heart pounding against her chest as the blonde's lips connected with hers over and over again until the two finally pulled away and looked at each other sharing a connection that she couldn't remember them sharing before this. kissing lexi was a different - a good different and she wished she'd done it sooner. lexi's cheeks were rosy pink and that smile mckenzie smile in return. she looked happy that they'd kissed for the first time. it's like it's something that she'd wanted. mckenzie's stomach went giddy as lexi brushed a strand of her hair behind her ear. "now i won't want to stop kissing the pretty girl." she didn't have to wait long either because lexi was kissing her again in a soft and tender kiss which was the sweetest. lexi pulled back and rested her forehead against mckenzie's and she sighed contently. mckenzie reached out to intertwine her fingers with lexi's as the blonde mentioned mckenzie's ex and why she didn't know why that he'd let mckenzie go in the past. "honestly? i don't know. i'm kind of glad he broke my heart now though. i don't think anybody has ever treated me like how you treat me. i get to see how to be loved." mckenzie kissed lexi's mouth once more. she hadn't felt love like this beforehand. "imagine his face when he finds out who my girlfriend is."
lexi’s heart raced as she felt mckenzie’s lips against hers. in that moment, all her previous feelings for anyone else faded away, and she realized that this was what she had been waiting for. she had silently admired mckenzie for so long, never imagining that they would share such an intimate moment. caught up in the intensity of the kiss, lexi’s desire grew, and she eagerly deepened the connection, losing herself in the electric chemistry between them. the butterflies in her stomach fluttered wildly, creating a sensation she had only ever heard about in cheesy romantic movies. but now, she understood the truth behind those cliches. as they finally pulled away, lexi’s cheeks flushed with a rosy hue, a sign of her heightened emotions. she couldn’t help but smile, her heart brimming with joy. “i regret not telling you how i felt earlier,” she admitted, her voice filled with sincerity. her fingers gently brushed a strand of mckenzie’s hair behind her ear, their eyes locked in a gaze filled with affection. lexi’s playful side emerged as she teased, “i should have reminded you at a party that in the pm, the pretty girls want to kiss other pretty girls.” she leaned in once more, capturing mckenzie’s lips in a soft and tender kiss, savoring the sweetness of the moment. a sigh escaped lexi’s lips as she pulled away slightly, her forehead resting against mckenzie’s. “i don’t understand why your ex let you go,” she sighed, her voice filled with genuine confusion. “you’re perfect, baby. you deserved so much better.”

mckenzie's ex boyfriend didn't treat mckenzie how she deserved to be treated. mckenzie's expectations were low from that relationship and she didn't know if anybody would ever treat her how she wished to be treated. mckenzie was much happier now in comparison compared the past relationship that she was in with her ex boyfriend. she hoped everybody could see the improvement in how she felt nowadays. she was building her confidence again. "she mentions me all the time?" mckenzie's stomach felt butterflies in it at hearing that her girlfriend spoke about her to her family like she was proud of having her as a girlfriend which was so sweet. mckenzie's ex boyfriend didn't speak with about her to anybody. he was afraid to introduce mckenzie to his friends thinking that she wasn't worthy of being his girl. mckenzie couldn't stop smiling as the other girl mentioned that she spoke highly about her when they were only friends. "i am better off without him. i see that now. i realised too late. i let myself go through some much shit with him because i thought i wasn't worth loving back then." mckenzie liked being with lexi and couldn't want anything else from the relationship she was currently in. she couldn't remember being so happy with someone else. lexi made her happier than anyone else did. mckenzie's nose scrunched playfully as willow mentioned that she was adorable. "thank you, willow. i hope we get to become better friends the more i'm around here." willow seemed sweet. she couldn't wait to become closer to the girl as the weeks passed and they got to know each other more. "have you always been close with lex?"
it was clear to her that mckenzie's ex had treated her poorly, and she was relieved that mckenzie had recognized her own worth and moved on. "she really is something else, annoying sometimes, but i bet that's something that only happens to me," willow chuckled, acknowledging the unique dynamics of their sisterly bond. their parents didn't seem to mind their constant phone conversations, as they were well aware of their close friendship and the deep connection they shared. "of course she mentioned you all the time," willow nodded, recalling the times when her sister couldn't stop talking about mckenzie. "she was literally smitten with you, and you were only friends," she added, a hint of admiration evident in her voice. she knew her sister would probably give her a playful smack if she were there to hear willow's words. "it's not your fault," willow reassured mckenzie, her hand gently squeezing her arm. "he's a man, and men have a way of making you feel like it's your fault. but you're better off without him," she affirmed, wanting to remind mckenzie of her own strength and resilience. as mckenzie spoke lovingly about her sister, willow couldn't help but smile. "i'm so happy that you two found a way to be together," she expressed sincerely. "even if it makes me feel a bit lonely sometimes," she scrunched her nose, attempting to lighten the mood. willow knew that she was content with her own independence and enjoyed spending time with her friends, but deep down, she longed for a relationship that would make her feel the same kind of joy and connection that mckenzie and her sister had. "you're adorable, mckenzie. i can see why she likes you," willow teased playfully, wanting to remind her friend of her own lovable qualities.
