Day 6 🇯🇵
Hi guys!!! How was your class? Some students enjoyed BC holiday which seemed fun!!!!! Me? I enjoyed practicing hockey, attending a meeting and going to dinner.
At first, I'd like to explain today's practice. Today, it was 35℃ which is very very very very hot. I was likely to die because it was the first time to play some sports outside in summer. Last year, I was in California as an OEAP program. When I was a high school student, I played volleyball inside the gym. Today, I became heatstroke, 熱中症. I know it's hot but I felt cold, I had a stomachache, headache. Fortunately, I could recover soon so that I could also attend a meeting at school. In today's meeting, almost all of my friends were wearing white T-shirts as second photo shows. I thought everybody except me would go to Disneyland or something but it was not. It was just an accidental thing😂😂 After I finished today's meeting, I ate omelet rice which was very very yummy😋 Omelette rice is the most favorite food so I could enjoy the dinner!!!!!
To sum up, today was hot, busy, scary but enjoyed a lot. I hope I won't heatstroke again tomorrow.

5th Day of 🇯🇵
Hi! It's me, Mayuko. In this Tumblr, I'd like to look back my 5th day in Japan🇯🇵
Today, I slept at 6 a.m without any reason and woke up at 10 a.m. which is unhealthy for my body. As lunch for today, I went to Jojoen for the first time. I haven't eaten yakiniku for three years, so it was such a luxury lunch for me. After that, I joined a meeting at school. When I finished the meeting, I moved to Odaiba and strolled around. However, two accidents have suddenly happened. First, I dropped my phone, but it was found in 10 minutes😂 Second, when I went out of the building, there was a big sound of 破裂音 which was turned out fireworks. As I mentioned in the previous post, I have 破裂音恐怖症 so that I was likely to cry, but I could avoid by wearing earphone with my favorite music. After that, I enjoyed JoyPolis and my day has finished.
I think almost all of you has finished the first class but it's just a beginning. Please try to keep learning and being participated in the class!!! Tomorrow, I have hockey practice so that I must wake up as soon as possible!! Goodnight 👶

Hi!! This is Go.
Today, I went to Okanagan Heritage Museum and Okanagan Military Museum.
In the Okanagan Heritage Museum, you can learn the history of Kelowna and animals living in Canada.
In the Military Museum, you can see the exhibits related to Korean War and WW2.
You don’t have to buy a ticket to enter these two Museum. However, they are operated by donations from visitors. So, if you visit these museums, it’s better to donate some money as a token of gratitude so that they can keep running the museums.
After visiting the museums, I went to Okanagan Lake. The beach and the nature were extremely beautiful. I’m very looking forward to take the lake cruise tomorrow.

3rd Day of Japan
Hello! Today, I had three events, hockey, meeting, and a part-time job. These are my usual three sets. Today's temperature is up to 34℃ which is amazingly hot.
At first, in the morning, I joined the hockey practice at Toyo University. I practiced hard and tried to teach for freshmen. I drank 2 liters of water in just 3 hours. After that, I ran to school and joined the meeting for my seminar. At school, many high school students visited Rikkyo because of the open campus event. Now, at 19:10, I'm on the way to go to my part-time job. However, today is a challenging day for me. In Tokyo, the fire flower event will be held in Itabashi-Ku and Asaka-shi which is near to my workplace. Actually, I'm scared of big sounds like balloons, thunder, and fire flower which is so-called "破裂音恐怖症". I have to teach at clum school from now, but it's gonna be a disaster I think.
I hope I can finish my job without crying. 😀

Itterasshai!!!!!!!!!
Hi, this is Mayuko's Tumblr. I'm General SA of this Overseas EAP 2019 Summer Program, and I'm also a General CA of 19BL0.
When I arrived at the airport, I was strolling around where do students get together. I tried to find "south wing" but I couldn't find it. I asked at the information center, and the woman told me that the south wing is in Terminal 1, but this is Terminal 2. I was shocked because I made a huge mistake!!!! Fortunately, I could get in time and meet Uvic & UBC students!!! After that, I moved to Terminal 2 and say goodbye to QUT students.✈️ All students departed from Japan😭 which is so sad for me. However, there was only one good news. I could meet Asuka Kudo, a famous Japanese actor, at the airport😂😂 I was so surprised because he didn't disguise any. Actually, I have ever met Masahiro Higashide, but at that time, he wore a cap and sunglasses. I was so sad that I had to say goodbye to the students, but I was happy because I could meet famous actor!
Have a safe flight and have a great experience in there. Hope you'll enjoy your stay!

Today, we had a focus group interview. We talked a lot about leadership skills and English skills. After that, we are dinner with UVic members and Mr. Donovan in the Italian restaurant. Even if my Chinese final exam hasn't ended yet, today was a good day.
I asked many questions to Yako, Sota, Nanami. I hope every leader and members can come back to Japan with better English skills and a higher level of leadership. I think the growth of their skills depends on each person’s efforts. If they try to talk with their classmates in English, that’s a precious chance to talk to them. If they do it in Japan, they will be treated as a strange person, by in Australia, speaking English is normal. So I think they should chat with their friends in English as much as possible. I am not so sure that my English dramatically grow through overseas EAP, but I think that I became to speak English more smoothly rather than before.
To sum up, our discussion was meaningful that we could check the purposes of overseas EAP and the responsibilities as a leader. I hope I can see the great presentations!!!

FINAL CLASS!😢😢😢
Today was the final Overseas EAP pre-departure class😭😭 Time flies so fast! Everyone could attend today's class, and everyone performed very very well even if the exam starts from tomorrow👻
In today's class, the travel agency talked us about the details of the flight, and the insurance company talked about their insurance documents. While listening to their talks, I suddenly remembered about my trip to UCDavis. I once lost my passport, smartphone, wallet, smartwatch.( I've returned almost all of them. ) Also, most of the students met the homestay problems! I had a responsibility to solve these problems as a class leader, but I think I couldn't accomplish my role as a class leader. Our class sub leader, Julia helped me so many times!!!!!!
From these experiences, I learned that being a leader is difficult especially in foreign culture areas, but I think I learned a lot of things. I hope every students can get great experiences in QUT!!

Marshmallow Challenge
2018/11/14
We tried the Marshmallow Challenge during the class on November 14th. Some of our students have already tried this challenge before. In my case, I tried this game when I was a third-year high school student. In English class, my teacher proposed us to play this.
Marshmallow Challenge’s rule is to build the tallest freestanding structure with a large marshmallow on top, and work as a team.
We watched these videos to see the researchers’ findings about the marshmallow challenge. These links are the videos that we watched during the class.
https://youtu.be/1p5sBzMtB3Q
https://www.ted.com/talks/tom_wujec_build_a_tower/up-next?utm_campaign=tedspread&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=tedcomshare
One thing I found interest is that kindergarten students could make the tallest with interesting structures. What is more, business students are the worst. The reason why is that kindergarten students make prototypes, refine it, make prototypes again, refine it again. On the other hand, business students spend too much time on planning, and they don’t have enough time to make prototypes and refine them again and again.
We learned that we need to take actions again and again if we start something. Especially for team tasks.

Best Memory of My Overseas EAP
This is the picture of my UC Davis class members. On that day, I got a chance to participate in the final presentation contest as a representitive of UC Davis class.
To be honest, we didn’t practice so many times for this presentation contest. Each group members made their effort individually. In my group’s presentation, I had to speak so much. For example, I was in charge of introduction (hook), findings, SWOT analysis. This is my tips to you, TRY TO DIVIDE THE ROLES EQUALLY.
You will have a final presentation contest, and I’m looking forward to see your final presentation in front of 50 students.

Introduce myself
1st Post
→→Introduce yourself with your picture. (Each Group Members should do your own.)
You need Topic Sentence, Support Sentences and Concluding Sentence.
———————————————–
Hello! This is Mayuko Ito, SA for QUT. Let me introduce myself in this first post!
At first, I am belonging in the roller hockey club. Roller hockey is a famous sport in foreign counties, especially for Spanish and Argentina. Before starting this sports, I used to play volleyball for 6 years in my junior high and high school.
Secondly, my hobby is to play many kinds of sports. In winter, I love to go to skiing and ice skating. In this winter vacation, I would like to try snowboarding.
If I could go to QUT, I would like to see animals such as kangaroos and koalas because I haven’t been to the southern hemisphere in my life. I once had a chance to go to Australia when I was a junior high school student, but I couldn’t because I lose the lottery. As a SA, I don’t have any opportunities to go there, but I would love to see some pictures from QUT students and feel the atmosphere of Australia. I'm really looking forward to see them.
