Ahivoyxv9udbpidvu9vd9u thank you for sharing g the continuation of your obito fic, this guy has been sticking himself to my head lately and your fic has me giddy with how domestic and sweet he's being with mc, I'm not sure if you've been asked this before but why did you chose to name the mc's son Hikaru? I'm kinda curious as to why
That, my friend, is a great question. I named him that because I didn't want to give him a western name, since it doesn't fit with the other characters and because of Ouran High Host Club. It was the first anime I ever watched, so I felt like paying a small tribute to it for getting me into more anime. I also felt that Hikaru was the more energetic twin from the show, and that was more in line with how I see the son in this story.
Thank you for asking, I'm glad to share. Have a good day!

As the Pendulum Swings
Part 4
Warnings: None
Note: I completely forgot to post this here months back.
On Sunday, Gojo helped you pick out a work uniform over breakfast. He came to pick you up from your room right after eight am. Breakfast wasn’t something you had decided to have beforehand, he just declared that he was hungry and dragged you down the stairs without your input.
Breakfast was at a lovely little coffee shop that sold the prettiest pastries you had ever seen. He ordered for the two of you, taking your coffee order and asking for one of the pastries you were eyeballing but didn’t want to ask for. You sat down at a round table next to the front window where you could watch the hustle and bustle of people going by in the bright morning light.
Gojo sat across from you, lazily stretching out his long legs and somewhat encroaching into your space at such a small table. You took a sip of your coffee and hummed in delight, letting your eyelids flutter shut. You reopened then to see Gojo smiling brightly.
“Good, right? I know the best places for coffee and food around the city. Well, coffee because Suguru loves it - I’m not much of a fan - but still!”
“This was thoughtful. Thank you, Gojo,”
He nodded happily. “Anytime,”
He pulled a rolled catalog out of his pocket. He straightened it out on the table facing you. Flipping it open, you saw a line of different styled black jackets. You looked at the top where it read ‘Men’s’ and flipped a couple pages until you saw the word ‘Women’s’. There, you saw a mix of pants or skirts, dresses, and different style tops. A few of the styles were very similar to the students’.
“Do I only get to pick one style, or could I wear different ones? I really like this summer style dress, but I am partial to pants,” you looked up at him to find him already looking at you behind his blindfold.
“I can order you whatever you want,” he said, waving a hand over the catalog.
“Can I just circle them on here, or do you need to reuse it?” You were already pulling your purse into your lap to retrieve a pen.
He shrugged, a small smile adorning his face. “Circle away.”
Gojo dug into his food while you did your thing. Despite his best efforts, he made a mess of crumbs on the table from a chocolate dipped croissant that he absolutely inhaled. You took a bite of your own treat after sliding the catalog back over and let out a noise of satisfaction. After this little trip, you definitely trusted Gojo’s judgment about places to eat. And you were definitely going to use it to your advantage.
Gojo tucked it back into his pocket. “What are your plans for the day?”
“Finish my new lesson plans. I’m not sure where everyone is academically, but I’m assuming it’s at a bit of a higher level than my junior high class was, so I've been a little lost, but I think after the first class I'll have it down,”
“Yaga is making me take your class,” he commented.
You made a face of surprise. “Oh?”
He nodded. “I didn’t learn any English after junior high. I can’t remember much at all besides ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye’.”
“Well, you may need a little more guidance than the other students, but that’s okay. I’ll just make sure to review all the basics and help you when you need it,” you smiled sweetly at him. He returned your smile with a grin.
You readjusted yourself in your chair. “What about Geto? Weren’t you in school together?”
“He spent time abroad. Somewhere in England and then New York for a couple years, I think. So, he knows it pretty well,”
You didn’t let your disappointment show on your face. “Ah, I see,”
The rest of your conversation flowed naturally between you two until it was eventually time to leave. You walked back to the school together. At the bottom of the steps, you told him he didn’t have to walk you all the way up, but he insisted, and the two of you walked and talked all the way to your room. After dropping you at your door, where he very reluctantly let you go to work on your lesson plans, he ambled down the hall to bother Geto. Geto laid in bed still, exhausted brown eyes trained on the window. Gojo knew he was prone to bouts of depression, so he never let him be for too long. He had been better after his time spent abroad, and he enjoyed teaching a lot, but he still felt the weight of the world on his shoulders more often than not.
“Suguru!” Satoru sang as he opened the unlocked door. Geto barely glanced at him.
“What is it?”
“I just took our brand new beautiful teacher out for breakfast! Don’t you want to hear every single detail?” He asked, closing the door behind him.
Geto rolled over in his bed to face Gojo. He would indulge the man until he was forced from his bed. He knew it was good for him and Gojo helped him out of his episodes, but it was always hard to find the energy for it. It was becoming a routine when they had the time - Gojo would talk about student gossip, ways to kill the higher ups, or whatever was on his mind until Geto had gotten out of his head enough to climb out of bed. He was grateful for his best friend, though he sometimes wondered if there was a better way to do this.
“Regale me,” Suguru said flatly.
Satoru takes a seat at Suguru’s desk chair and rolls it around so that he’s right next to the bed. He crosses his arms over the back of the chair and rests his head on them, sighing dreamily. “So, I got here around 8 to pick her up…”
Suguru listened to him with as much attention as he could give. He definitely thought you were highly attractive, but he didn’t find himself enamored with you. It was Satoru’s game though, to take his crushes very seriously for a few days before they vanished almost instantaneously. It was difficult for The Strongest to hold onto his romantic feelings for anyone, possibly because they weren’t interesting enough to him beneath the surface, Suguru mused. It would be hard with the life they lived and the fact that the man was almost god level. There was something about you that was different already, though. Suguru had been side-eyeing you from the beginning. It wasn’t a negative suspicion, there was just something about your aura that really intrigued him. He wondered if Satoru felt it too, but he didn’t want to interrupt his friend’s ramblings on how your skin glowed in the morning sunlight. Suguru found himself climbing out of bed before Satoru had finished, much to his friend’s delight.
Satoru followed him into the bathroom, still talking about how nice you were, “She said she’d go over the basics again just for me, and give me whatever extra help I needed,”
“That’s really nice, Satoru. Exit the bathroom before I shut the door in your face,” Gojo pouted but stepped back, knowing the threat was real from experience. “And don’t go bothering her. I can already see what you’re thinking,”
His pout intensified. “But Suguru, it’s me! It wouldn’t be bothersome if it’s my presence,”
Suguru looked at him with a dead-eyed stare. “Don’t,” The bathroom door shut and Gojo grumbled to himself.
He sighed and tried to decide what else he would do on this lovely Sunday. He pulled out his phone, hoping that you had maybe messaged him. The only notification was from his father who was reminding him of a Clan meeting they were having this afternoon. He nearly stuck his tongue out at the phone. Something about dealing with his parents always stirred up a childish part of him. He left Geto’s room, hands in his pockets as he sauntered down the hall. He peered into the common room as he passed, the sound of the coffee maker growling filling his ears. He thanked his lucky stars that you were there, pen and notebook in hand as the coffee brewed. It wasn’t being bothersome if he wasn’t knocking on your door, right?
“Hey,” he said, entering casually.
You looked up, surprise etched onto your face. “Oh, Gojo, what are you still doing here?”
“I just wanted to check in with Geto before I left,” he leaned against the back of a couch directly across from you.
You were in work mode, so that comment went right over your head. You had only asked for something to say, if you were being honest. “I’m glad you’re here. I wanted to go over some things with you to see what you know,”
He straightened up just a little. "Sure,"
"Do you remember the alphabet?"
"Uh, the what?"
"The letters for the English system of writing,"
"Um.. yes," he said a little unsure.
You raised a brow at him, then a smile took over your face. "Sing them to me, then,"
"Uhhhh," he looked around the room like it would give him a clue.
You shook your head lightly, amused. "Okay, never mind that, we can go over it later. You said you remember 'hello' and 'goodbye', how about, 'How are you?'"
He cocked his head and furrowed his brows as he tried to compute what you said. It was actually quite cute, cuter if he didn't have a blindfold, you thought to yourself. You were still waiting for someone to explain to you why he wore it.
"I am... well," he finally said with a thick accent.
You clapped your hands together. "Good job," you praised him.
He shot you a thousand-watt smile and playfully asked, "I'm pretty good, aren't I?"
"Now don't start tooting your own horn just yet," you replied.
You turned around and poured yourself a large cup of coffee that would help you finalize your plans. You were saving the rest for Suguru who you had noticed drank it black every day.
"You can't praise him, his head will get too big,"
You turned to see Suguru walking into the room, wet hair tied in a bun at his nape. He was smiling at you conspiratorially, knowing Satoru couldn't understand him. And that smile, the fact that this gorgeous man was pulling you in to share an inside joke with him had you hot around the collar. You weren't sure you would ever get used to how devilishly handsome he was.
"I don't think he'll listen if I don't," you quipped back.
Suguru chuckled and you felt the flutter of butterflies. Satoru was glaring holes into the back of Suguru's head as he sidled up next to you to grab his mug from the cabinet.
"You guys are talking about me," his voice was close to a whine.
"We weren't," Suguru lied, winking at you and making the butterflies go wild. "But it's nice to know your ego is as massive as ever, Gojo,"
"He told me you spent time in New York," you continued casually, not letting Gojo get in a word in his overly flustered state. "I can tell, it's seeped into your accent a bit,"
Geto looked at you, a small spark in his eyes as he brought the coffee cup to his lips. Behind the rim of the mug he asked, "Good or a bad thing?"
"Neither, just interesting," you shrugged, a little overwhelmed by all of his attention being placed on you.
You looked back at Satoru whose ears were tinged pink. You picked up your pen and notebook again. "Well, I better get to work. You guys have a good day,"
"You too," they replied in unison.
They looked at each other and you saw the hint of a smile on Satoru's lips as you waved goodbye.

Every day I do at least one thing that tickles me. And by that I mean I experience a small joy. It has taken me YEARS to understand how important that is.
And every day since I learned to regulate myself has been a step in the right direction, even if I have bad moments.
I am so serious when I say that you must create space for yourself to experience peace and joy. This life is not worth living if it is not yours, and it is only truly yours if you choose it.
And I'm not talking about guilty indulgences, which have their place. I am talking about tapping in and finding something that the creative, loving child inside yourself would want to do. It doesn't always have to be that child, but that's a good place to start.
Please, choose yourself and choose to create a life that brings you in alignment with your highest good, whatever that means to you.
Idk why i felt i needed to say this today, but here it is.

The Big Bad Wolf
Part XXVII
Word Count: 2435
Warnings: Some cursing, the Naruto world is still kind of a sexist place.
Note: I have arisen from the dead for a short period of time. I don't have to work this week and I have worked ahead on my class work, so here is a scrap, a morsel, for you all. Thank you to those of you who read this, even if it's been like a year since I last updated. And also I did this in like, one sitting because I actually felt it flow, so there are likely errors. <3
The entourage for the journey to the land of iron was small. Just you, the Hokage, and three Anbu. You traveled at a steady pace through the massive trees, the last dredges of winter manifested as the wind biting your cold cheeks. There were few words exchanged during the first several hours, just you and your thoughts to keep you warm.
Your mind drifted to Obito and Hikaru over and over, or rather, it never quite left them. You worried about your boy without you, of course. But you were also replaying his sweet reaction to you proclaiming your love for him. There were a few times that you couldn’t help a little bit of a smile from claiming your lips.
As your group slowed down to a stop, you found yourself surprised that you hadn’t run into any challenges thus far, considering you were with the Hokage. The evening was closing in around you now, and you were almost to a nearby village. You couldn’t remember what it was called, but you were sure you had passed through this way before during missions in your youth. You were now on the actual walking path, and could see a few scattered houses through the tall trees.
Two figures appeared in the opening between the trees and your guard went up immediately. You looked to Kakashi and noticed the glint in his eye at the same time his hand went up to assure you it was okay to stand down. You realized why he did as soon as those orange and purple figures came into closer view.
“Naruto?” you quietly questioned yourself.
You could tell Kakashi was smiling behind his mask when he said, “I invited him along since he’ll take my place as Hokage in a few years.”
Of course he would.
“Though I’ll have to remind him that he and Sasuke will have to part for this,”
You nodded, the brooding features of the second boy coming into view. You held back an eye roll. The kid had always been like that, not that you blamed him, but life had been good for him since he rejoined the Leaf. A smile once in a while wouldn’t hurt him. Besides, as a ninja he had free access to mental health services (something that you had actually pushed for in your youth [becoming a mother had definitely taken some of your advocacy energy from you] that Lady Tsunade had neglected to instate but Kakashi decided was important enough to start a program for).
The boys took a few steps towards your travel party and you gave them a small wave. Naruto grinned brilliantly at you in particular. “Y/n! How long has it been?”
“Too long, Naruto. I think I’ve missed just about all the interesting parts in your life, or so I’ve heard,”
He shrugged. “Nah, I’ve got way more interesting things on the way for me,”
“Of course, of course,” you grinned and held your arms out to the boy who was far too tall for you now.
Sasuke approached silently and chose to stand ominously behind his boyfriend. Kakashi greeted him and you saw him nod as you let go of Naruto. Naruto moved his attention to Kakashi and you eyed Sasuke, who returned the gesture.
“It’s been far longer since seeing you, Sasuke,”
“It has. I suppose you would like to comment on my choices, like everyone else,” he squared his shoulders like he was preparing for the worst.
“There are things I could say, but I’m sure you’ve already heard them,” you looked him up and down, your gaze stuck onto his line-less face and couldn’t help but feel struck with how young he still was. Still just a kid, just like the other two from his squad. Just a boy with so much life still ahead of him.
“I will say this, though,” his gaze hardened with your words. “I’m glad you chose love, in the end,”
“I always choose love, that’s why I had to do what I did,”
You shook your head. “You were chasing negative aspects, and now you’re choosing positive ones. I’m happy for that,”
He rolled his dark eyes at you. You didn’t blame him. The last time you spoke to him he was probably twelve, and you were never as close to him as the other two. His attitude had always tested your patience when you were a younger person, and it seemed to have a similar effect now.
He abruptly turned to Naruto. “It’s time for me to leave,”
“Aw, already?”
He nodded once. Naruto huffed, but pulled him into what looked like an iron-gripped hug. You looked at Kakashi and he moved a little closer to you while you gave them their moment.
“We’re heading into town to get dinner and sleep for the night. We’ll go over some details we haven’t discussed yet over food,”
You nodded to him. The boys parted and Sasuke headed in an easterly direction while the rest of you walked north to the village. Naruto was talkative and told you and Kakashi about how fun it was to travel with Sasuke. He seemed quite happy, and far more mature than you remembered, which really warmed your heart. He made it clear that at the end of the year, he would be coming back to Konoha to start working again in true preparation to become Hokage.
By the time he had finished, you were already through the doors of a cute little inn. The sign outside declared that they had forever soup* and that it was the oldest in the region. You felt your stomach rumble at the thought. You listened quietly as Kakashi secured three rooms and took the key he handed you. He told the two of you to meet him back in the lobby after putting your things away, so you did just that.
You all quickly decided to just eat at the inn’s restaurant, and were directed to your table. It wasn’t too busy, and you were all able to order fairly quickly. After ordering, Kakashi got up to use the restroom.
Naruto, who was sitting across from you, looked you in the eyes with intensity. “Y'know, I knew you and Kakashi-sensei would get together because he always liked you when I was a kid, but how come you didn't invite me to the wedding?”
Your eyes widened in disbelief and you opened your mouth and closed it a few times before settling on, “Naruto, what are you talking about?”
“Whaddaya mean?”
You shook your head at the blue-eyed boy, wondering how he got the idea that you and Kakashi were together, let alone married. “Kakashi and I are not married, nor are we dating,”
Naruto did a sort of half-chuckle. “What are you talking about? I’ve been traveling everywhere but in the Land of Fire and still heard that you two got married,”
You vehemently shook your head, unable to escape the image of an angry Obito with his arms crossed as you listened to the boy. “Naruto, listen very closely. Kakashi and I are very much not married or together. No. Whatever it is you heard are rumors.”
Naruto drew his brows together and his mouth formed a straight line. “But I don’t understand, Kakashi-sensei has loved you for -”
Speaking of the devil, Kakashi himself hurriedly appeared at the table, silencing Naruto with his eyes. The young man had enough sense to close his mouth as he watched his old sensei take a seat next to you. You paid little attention to Naruto’s words of love, as he always had the tendency to over exaggerate, but you couldn’t help but notice the tiny bit of tension in Kakashi’s jaw.
You turned to Kakashi. “Um, could you maybe explain to me why apparently everyone thinks we’re married?”
“I wanted to talk to you about that,”
“Uh-huh,”
A waitress approached the table and settled the orders down. You stared at Kakashi with raised brows as you waited for him to answer. You heard Naruto thank her and comment about how good it looked, but didn’t take your eyes off of the man.
While Kakashi kept the comfortable facade, it was obvious to you that it was just that. He cleared his throat. “Well, you know how there were rumors that we were together because of you bringing me dinners?”
You nodded.
“They never went away, even after Toma started his rumors. And then for some reason, when the information about your cousin and Akujia came out, people started to think that I only trusted you with that mission because we were.. Married?” He shrugged apologetically.
Your face scrunched up in anger. “Oh, I see, people don’t think I could handle such a high ranking mission. Right, I was on the mission because I give the Hokage pussy and nothing else. Are you fucking serious right now?”
Naruto took a nice long sip from his drink as he looked back and forth between the two of you. Kakashi put his hands up defensively and his voice came out placatingly when he said, “I told anyone who brought it up that all of that was false. I know your worth as a shinobi, that’s why I trusted you to take it.”
“But they don’t!” You threw your hands up in exasperation.
“I know, I know, but people just don’t believe me when I say who you’re really with.” The part of his face that you could see looked painfully apologetic.
That made you pause. While you had gotten to know Obito, you realized everyone else probably still saw him as the war criminal you had met. You pictured his goofy, lopsided grin and the warmth of his pretty caramel brown eyes and felt a pang in your stomach. This was completely unfair.
“Wait, who are you with, then?” Naruto piped up.
Kakashi put his hand up to you before you could say anything. “I hate to say it, but I don’t think it’s wise to say until after the summit. The other Kages… they don’t know, and I think it would add an extra layer of.. Uncertainty to the mix if they find out,”
“Are you serious?” you asked through your teeth, the best death stare you could muster aimed at him.
“I know that’s not what you want to hear-”
“Really?” you asked sarcastically, interrupting him.
“Just think about it. You’re an Akujian, even if you are a Leaf Shinobi. And as you know, Akujia is essentially waging war against chakra. I need the Kages to know that you are not a threat, especially if they’re asking you questions that you don’t know the answer to. I can’t have them thinking that you’re withholding information. Please, y/n.”
The two of you held each other’s stares for a moment before you relented with a huff. Whether you liked it or not, he not only had a point, but he was technically also your boss. You turned to your soup and mixed it angrily. This trip seemed to be turning out even worse than you had expected.
You were still upset by the time you returned to your room. Naruto and Kakashi made some idle chatter while you ate silently. You could understand his reasoning, but your feelings were getting a little in the way. The only other information you retained from dinner was that Kakashi had every intention of stating to the Kages that the Hidden Leaf village was more than willing to go to war against Akujia for the atrocities being committed against chakra users, but he was open to other, less intense strategies as well.
There was a lot on your mind when you heard your phone vibrating from the small bedside table in your room. You rushed over to grab it and saw that there was an incoming call from Obito. With a swipe, you answered it.
On the other end you heard, “Mama!”
You couldn’t help the small smile that formed. “Hey Sweetie,”
“He’s been asking for you,” Obito replied in his lovely baritone.
You sighed out. “I miss you two already,”
There was rustling as Hikaru stole the phone away and a ‘hey!’ from Obito in the distance. Hikaru started babbling about school and whatever else came to his mind very loudly into your ear. You made noises of agreement while he went on for another couple of minutes.
“Okay, buddy, I think it’s my turn to talk to Mom,”
You smiled and heard some more rustling when the phone was transferred between hands.
“Hey,”
“Hey, how have things been with Hikaru?”
“I think we’ve had fun. We’ve been playing. He did not want to eat dinner, though,”
“I’m not surprised,” you replied as you laid down in bed and pulled the covers over yourself.
“Has the mission been ‘okay’ so far?”
“Nothing too bad,” you started, and then remembered why you had been upset earlier. “Except that apparently people think Kakashi and I are married and don’t believe him when he says I’m with you,”
There was a long pause on his end of the line. You wished you were able to see whatever faces he was making.
Eventually, you asked, “Obito?”
“... I want to be angry. I just - I don’t blame them, I guess,”
“What?!”
“C’mon, babe. You’re a strong, beautiful shinobi. And I kind of tried to commit shinobi genocide, what reasonable person would believe that we’re together?”
You made a noise of indignation.
“I mean, I don’t like that they think you and Kakashi are married. That peeves me. Like a lot.” He said gruffly.
“I know, I-”
You were interrupted by what sounded like pots or pans crashing. Then the distinct sound of a Hikaru letting out a cry.
“Shit,” there was movement on the other end and then you heard Obito say very rushed into the receiver, “I’m sorry, I’m going to take care of this, I’ll call you tomorrow,”
You assumed the phone was thrown down because you could hear Obito trying to soothe Hikaru on the other end. You sighed and hung up the phone. You wanted to talk more, but figured getting as much rest as you could would be as good an idea as any. Rolling over, you turned off the lamp beside your bed and closed your tired eyes. You had a feeling it was going to be a very long next few days.
