The pathway image represents the beginning of my learning journey starting this major project, travelling to the Northern Territory. It is also symbolic of educational pathways people can take in life, and the single path shows some people have less pathways/opportunities compared to others: the Gap in Education between Indigenous and Non. The sign, is to educate visitors to change perspectives developing ideas to connect with the landscape and the culture, in part the learning process is developing a connection with subject matter to understand it. This sign in part displays an attempt at reconciliation. Non-Indigenous people to respect Aboriginal culture, local Aboriginal community welcomes visitors to explore their country in a different way.

My educational experience of the Karrke Aboriginal Tour near Kings Canyon: Some highlights are listed above. This tour was practical the tourists including myself were encouraged to eat the cooked witchety grubs (tasting like buttered popcorn), learn about the meaning of a painting (the witchety grubs above) by one of the tour guides. We learnt about hunting weapons including the number 7 boomerang, spears. My favourite part was learning about the medicines and language (words) because that’s part of education. Learning a few words of the local language was educational because communication is part of the learning process and understanding. Above photo on the drive back from the tour: ironically the bin instructing people to put their rubbish in the bin is littered with used tissue papers, to me this is the result of tourists on Aboriginal country, disrespecting the environment.
