crop from my entry for de nuit's zine 'tied and bound'!
the full image & process video is available to patrons.
[as a sidenote, the zine has had some printing setbacks (which the organizer has been dealing with diligently, on top of everything else going on in their life)… but hopefully everyone should get their copy and merch soon.]

on a more personal note, i do just want to distance myself from pathologic + fandoms in general.
i wrote a whole long and angry post about it a week ago that Still stands true, but i think it could be shorter/calmer/more organized.
the game/fandom has a lot of baggage for me... it's this thing that has enabled the creator to hurt other people and himself, first and foremost... but it's also difficult for me to look at how the game handles imperialism, orientalism, alcoholism, and making/preserving art at all cost.
maybe the game/fandom explores it in a kind of valuable or interesting way, but ultimately it feels like an uphill battle & i could be focusing my energy elsewhere.
aside from this particular game, i want to distance myself from fandoms in general because i've had some difficult experiences with how they're organized, and how artwork/writing is shared in them. mainly, i don't really agree that fandoms are at all like families/tangible communities. they feel more to me like ways to index and share and buy things without really thinking about what-- and who-- you're looking at.
of course, i've been touched by other people's work, and have met very important friends though them. maybe i've managed to touch some people with my own work... but seeing the way people treat other people poorly in tangible, real ways over something that isn't real is hard.
maybe to someone who sees fandoms as a family/tangible community/society/"Real Life", this is necessary. they see the work as a reflection of their immediate surroundings, and therefore their wellbeing and the wellbeing of others. i understand when people choose to block and avoid others for their own wellbeing, and when they discuss things they see as difficult and harmful between friends or with their followers.
but it's harder to see people find something they don't like from another person, and then they start messaging everyone around that person claiming they made work that is morally bad, with the aim of isolating that person from their friends or source of income.
again, maybe to someone who sees fandom as a meaningful community, this is something that seems necessary. but to me, it just isn't. you can block and move along, or share that information with a friend who you know is sensitive to a certain topic.
but to hurt people in real ways over something that isn't real and easily avoidable is something i don't agree with, and i don't want to continue being in online spaces that encourage that sort of thing.
those are my thoughts.. i'd like to make and support more original art from now on, and return to enjoying things privately with friends. maybe that's how i should have done it in the first place... but we live and we learn.

if you have the time to read this translation of renata kurlyandtseva's statement [which includes context that is missed by machine translation, and with followup from an ex-employee], please do.
this post also has more information around pathologic's original writer and studio lead's abuse against his ex-wife, students, and new hires.
#shutting off reblogs because i'd rather you just read it and shared the links/your thoughts in another post. or with friends#mainly renata's statement since it says a lot of what needs to be shared & she wants it to be shared

With the blockade imposed by Israel, it is extremely important to support grassroots organizations. They provide aid to multiple families on the ground. The Sameer Project is one organization. It is led by 4 Palestinians in the diaspora and Gazans are risking their lives while distributing the aid to ensure families are accommodated.
The Sameer Project provides food and shelter. As you know, the rainy season is persistent and many families have been displaced by the sea. The high tide has caused many to lose their tents, the only shelter they have. So please donate to the Sameer Project! With your support, they can branch out to families across the Strip!
Here is their Linktree, which also includes Venmo and PayPal.
