just saw a post ragging on the concept of "start a new paragraph where you'd imagine a new camera angle" so i'm here to say that you don't need to change the medium you make art in just because some rando on tumblr thinks that means you don't like the form of art you are choosing to create. if you want your prose to flow like camera shots, if you want to write your poetry like a recipe book, if you want to make physical art that looks like ms paint or digital art that looks like watercolors, you're cool as hell, don't let people get you down about it. also it's a visualisation technique not a sign that you secretly want to be writing a movie instead.

the first thing to understand is you absolutely CANNOT kill yourself about this. that is what these fascists want. it's convenient for them if the opposition self-exterminates. stay alive and fight. it's harder but if everyone gives up then we are truly done for. we need you and we need each other.

this is horrifying, but it is survivable. the human spirit is to adapt and to work together and that's exactly what we'll do to turn this around. it's going to be okay. if not now, then in the future after we make it so.

I got so endeared to him. I wish people talked more about him besides his death. It's so interesting how he sticks out of the crew like a sore thumb. The way he dresses himself, the way he talks, the way he's significantly younger and less experienced than the others. The way he's very noticably the only asian person onboard. He's trying his best to be helpful, to measure up to everyone else, but he continuously fails. The trip wasn't meant to accommodate him. He's a last minute addition. He didn't even want to be on the Tulpar. He just isn't supposed to be there.

You wouldn't think tragedies like what happened with the Tulpar would happen to people like him.

day 7 - childhood memory

WOOOO OWAB (etsuo and erin) MEETDISGUSTING!!! this technically isn’t their first meeting but it’s the inciting incident of everything to come.

tfw your math tutor you’ve only had for like 2 sessions rings you up at the witching hours and asks you to bail him out or something. (he did.)(but erin yelled at the fucker as soon as he was released)(but they became friends after this)

my day 3 turned out kind of mid so here’s compensation

anyways! this is erin (left he/him) and miumi (right also he/him), their designs are complete opposites regularly erin is like bright colors comfort clothing but also streetwear-ish, miumi is haute and corp goth. and uh. erin has an in backstory reason for not liking to dress monotone so i tried to do it where it would be the characters own takes on each others style instead of just switching outfits :)

Addendum to Hair pt 1!

I want to add something I missed in the hair lesson! As someone who's had many natural styles, I sort of assumed that people would naturally end up in the twist out space as they researched afros. That's on me, because the entire point of this blog is to direct you there! So I apologize!

Twist-Outs! (21 Twist Out styles)

This is an example from the AMAZING link above on how twist-outs generally work. Not only does the link include options, but it also includes videos! There are so many types of twist-outs your Black character can have, and they're not all that hard to do, either! Twist-outs are often where new naturals find themselves as they learn to take care of their hair, so if your Black character is younger, or learning how to work with their hair for the first time and want to style it... why not let them give twist-outs a try?
