First of all, it's a bit of a pet peeve of mine when a fic doesn't flow well, but this one flows like silk. And it's not all just one mood, there's a good range of smut to domestic fluff to angst and it just ugh it's my fav rn 10/10 will read again Oh and also the fact that they actually talk about things!!! And consent negotiation!! Like, it's a very big part of a relationship that most fics don't mention but it just feels so much more real thanks to the author including it!!!

I'm going to lay it out at the top: this one HURTS. No Good Deed is an epistolary-style oneshot that takes place through a series of voicemails Foggy leaves Matt after he's crushed by Midland Circle in Defenders. It's as angsty as you might expect, but it's far from being one-note. In addition to Foggy's feelings running the full spectrum from anger to grief to wistful sadness, there are quietly brilliant sprinkles of characterization throughout, not limited to him and Matt but even stretching out beyond them to include other characters filtered through Foggy's perspective (Brett, Marci, and Karen, among others). This is one of those fics that explores the potential of a particular canon moment/storyline and adds a whole bunch of depth in the process. The Time We Have Left takes inspiration from the fact that the Superior Iron Man miniseries was published while the Waid run of Daredevil was still ongoing, and brings the two together by asking the question: what if the very person Matt was going up against had the power to do away with the necessity of Foggy's cancer treatments? This added moral dilemma brings Matt's contribution to the original Superior Iron Man story into sharper focus while avoiding falling into the trap of doing a simple retread.
