You can get fired from a job for no reason
My best friend walked into a termination meeting thinking she was getting a promotion. This happened a few months ago. She was ready for her monthly one-on-one with her manager, which started off normally. A few minutes into the call, her manager said: “We’ve decided to part ways with you, effective immediately after this call.” Those words echoed in the silence, as she was at a loss for words. Just moments before, she was rehearsing how to talk about her promotion. And now, when she heard this, she couldn't say anything. There were no heads-up at all. There wasn't any feedback or warnings. But when she finally mustered the courage to speak, she blubbered out something like, “Thank you for the opportunity to work with you guys.” What she really wanted to do was fight for herself, but she was afraid. She thought, “What if I end things badly and burn bridges, which I might regret later?” What she needed most was a severance package — she couldn’t just stop making money. She had a family that depended on her. She had bills. She decided to talk to the founder. She took some time to breathe, took a walk in the nearby park, came back home, and asked the founder on a call, “Why me?” The founder replied, “We don’t have enough funds. We are sorry. I respect your work, but we don’t have enough money to sustain the company. We have to let you go”. There was no performance issue. No mistake on her end. Just bad timing. So she did the only thing she could—she negotiated. She got one months' severance and started channeling her energy into looking for a better job. Just a week ago, she got a job. As she looked back, she realised: Losing your job in a downturn is rarely your fault. There are a number of reasons why you can lose your job. Sometimes, there’s nothing you could have done. To all the hiring managers, people are let go of multiple reasons. Sometimes, with no fault of theirs. Make sure, you take this into account when hiring someone.

Decline of UK
The biggest decline in the U.K. that no one is talking about My local city centre used to have boutique shops & independent cafes & restaurants It used to have M&S. John Lewis; & now there are ALL gone Now it is riddled with vape shops, pawn brokers & pound shops One street has EIGHT betting shops & slots/casinos There are dozens of homeless people What an utter disgrace Empty units everywhere. Graffiti everywhere Nothing to do & NOT safe for our children The biggest decline in the U.K. is the high streets Councils are broke, cities are in ruin yet Council tax is going UP Private investors want to develop but planning laws make it impossible How is your city centre doing? And why is no one talking about this?

What the UK Is Like
I’m in an abusive relationship… It’s all one-sided. I do everything and get nothing back. I put in the hours. I take the risks. I create the jobs. And yet, no matter how much I give, it’s never enough. They keep demanding more. More time. More money. More compliance. More hoops to jump through. They don’t say thank you. They don’t care if I’m struggling. They just take and take and take. It’s exhausting. It’s unfair. And worst of all? There’s no escape. Of course, I’m talking about HMRC and the UK Government. The never-ending taxes, the endless red tape, the complete lack of recognition for the people actually driving this economy forward. Entrepreneurs, business owners, risk-takers—treated like cash cows rather than the backbone of this country. Meanwhile, I run my businesses on a different philosophy. Fair pay, real benefits, and the opportunity for anyone willing to step up to take control of their own future. That’s how it should be. A system that rewards ambition, not punishes it. Because right now, we don’t have an economy—we have a hostage situation. Who else feels like they’re in this toxic relationship?
