Mateo chuckled. “That’s alright, no harm done.” He started leading Daisy across to the other side. “Someone should be at those doors letting them pass through. I’ll have to find out what’s up with that... but yeah, the guest areas are through here. Plenty of bathrooms and private spaces to get a breather if you need it.”

“It’s surprisingly easy,” Mateo replied, smile still on his face. Since his meltdown in front of Elle, he’d decided to stay away from alcohol for a long time. It’d been nothing but trouble for him for the past year anyway. “Seems like every time I get to drinking, I get in trouble, so...” he gave the other submissive a wink, playing off his words as just a joke. “But I’m glad you get to enjoy the free alcohol at least.”

Elle laid in Mateo’s bed, still wearing her dress from earlier in the evening that she knew he liked so much. Mateo shrugged, unable to stop the grin spreading across his face. “Hey, I didn’t have nothing to do with the bartenders. I was just hired to make sure no one got hurt,” he said, chuckling. “Yeah, I’m working the whole night tonight. Don’t feel too bad for me - Elle’s staying the night and she’ll make it up to me. What about you and Sandro? Staying the whole night or planning to dip out early?”

Alexei snorted at the apology. The other didn’t need to say sorry. This was his own problem after all. He’d known better than to get involved with the man in the first place. “I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself. Lord Romano wanted to make sure everyone under his roof was safe and having a good time. Please let me know if you do need anything - I’m on the clock until everyone is safe in a cab home,” Mateo explained, turning back toward the dominant.

Instead she settled for leaning in and pressing a quick, almost innocent kiss to his lips before straightening up. “I’ll have fun, and I know you’ll be watching. See you later, Tesoro.” With a wink she sauntered away, content with the knowledge that his eyes would probably be on her walking away.

Mateo could not make it back to his cottage fast enough after the party had ended and he’d gotten a full report from the security team. No major incidents, for which he was thankful. But now he was far more thankful to be going home to his domme. 

As soon as he was inside and the door was locked behind him, Mateo started pulling off his suit. “I’m back,” he called out, just so Elle wouldn’t have to be frightened by the commotion he was causing. “And I’ll be ready for you in a couple minutes. Just like you asked...”

But I’m trying.” She felt like she said that on a daily basis, but it was true. Things had been simpler before, when she kept to herself and hadn’t made many waves - but then she tried to branch out and make friends and things just spiraled very badly.

“I know you’re trying. And, hey, if you don’t wanna do all that girly shit, you can always come hang out with me and help me work on my truck,” Mateo offered, giving her a grin. “Just, y’know - take your time but don’t give up. That’s the worst thing you could do.”
