Not sure I've picked a fave yet, but I listened to Cam Cole, Mathias Fritsche, and Rob Scales this year, all in the past couple of months.

@alyssalenko has been a big help this year with a lot of fashion questions for fics I've been involved with. Very open, helpful, insightful, and judgement-free. It's made writing all of the fancy events in stories far more fun! Thank you!

19. What're you excited about for next year?

I need to rework my demo reel, but I have some opportunities to update it with recent pieces. with the ideal end result being a job opportunity from it. So for now the new year brings new opportunities to grow and expand skillset.

When people use "devs" as a catch-all to complain about decisions that were very likely made many levels above the teams animating, writing, being creative, putting the code together, testing the game as best they can before launch, it irks me.

Those people pushing launch dates to hit some seasonal deadline that's less of a thing in the mid-2020's, or trying to take in more money through microtransactions, or deciding at the 11th hour that the ideas they want to see must be implemented despite the game entering it's final stage of development ... those people are not developers.

Those people are not the ones you see playing the games they helped to create.

Those people are not driven by their love of creating and showcasing fun animations, mechanics, visuals.

But those people love when you blame the actual developers so they have more excuses to close down divisions, wings, and entire companies to save money for themselves.

Thank you for speaking up.

Fans have absolutely no idea of the struggle that goes into working on a project you love in the video game industry. How much heart, effort and mental health goes into developing a game. There is no excuse under the sun for this behaviour, I just wish there was a way to hold these people accountable.

"Secret" hiding spot: in the narrow space between her bed and the wall, a holdover from when she accidentally drove the harvester into the neighbour's field tilled the growing crops. It was the last place her parents thought to look for her, but one of the first places her older brother thought of.

Five most recent in Google Search History: "Prothean wikipedia" (resulted in a fan page for a ttrpg that was way off base which she didn't know until after a very embarrassing conversation) "Doctor Liara T'Soni Ph.D research papers Prothean" (why are all the good peer-reviewed research papers and journals behind exorbitant paywalls?!) "Do Asari fall in love?" (90% of the results were smut. Interesting and probably not entirely helpful smut.) I need the help of Blender peeps for a proper rigged Miranda model with FK/IK switches, root controls, and her catsuit and boots. Hopefully optimized for Blender 4.0 and above. I know my thirsty BioWare friends have knowledge in the area, thank you all!!!!

For anyone interested, this was my process for creating my coloured pencil N7 day piece of Major Coats and his old squaddie.

I like sketching in procreate for ease of adjustments and edits. Then I print and copy it over to better paper with then old school improvised light box (taping the paper to a window during daylight hours and tracing that shit). I was feeling inspired to start the husk first, then I expanded from there. Once I had the majority of my colour laid down, I went in blending with mineral spirits and qtips. Then I decided to force myself to do a background and I still don't love it but I was ready to be done hehe. Then I finally stopped putting off doing the rifle and slapped that in. Touched up the white in procreate because I didn't feel like rushing out last minute to pick up a white gel pen.
