as a huge lover of birds, 90% of the concern against wind turbines being used for energy is literally just pro fossil fuel propaganda. birds ARE at a risk however there is a lot of strategies even as simple as painting one of the blades that reduces a lot of accidental deaths. additionally renewable energy sources will do more in favor of the environment that would positively impact birds (and all of us). one study found over one million bird deaths from wind turbines. while that is a shockingly high number and we should work to drastically shrink it, at least 1.3 billion birds die to outdoor cats on a yearly basis. it was never about caring about birds

this election does highlight the problem with leftists in this country, that they're so divided that they're unable to do anything. the average American leftist is as likely to condemn someone for having politics which are 2% different from their own as they are to condemn someone who is 98% different. no wonder organized resistance is non-existent. the average American leftist can't even figure out a coherent plan to deal with the Glue Man, who invented a special glue that lets him walk up and down anything

So, I guess as a middle range millennial, I now get to tell all you young queer kids that what you are feeling right now is exactly how it felt in 2004 when we re-elected George Bush, and not only that but many states put in bans against gay/same sex marriage at the time.
This is probably not comforting, but it is true, and it helps me when I feel hopeless: For every revolution there is a counter revolution, for every step forward there is a step back, that things may not be good forever but they will not be bad, either. That we clawed our way to get where we are and we can claw our way forward from here, too. Talk to your queer elders, the ones who have been here before and will be here again and who threw bricks at Stonewall.
When I was a child, if you got AIDS it was a death sentence. Now it isn't. Now you live on.
So I'll quote angels in america: You are fabulous creatures, each and every one. And I bless you: More Life. The Great Work Begins.

"Death before Detransition" does not mean that I will kill myself if I can't access hormones or be referred to by my preferred language.
It means that there will always be another way. There will always be a stockpile, or distributors, or ways to synthesize the medicine we need. And even if that fails, there will always be community. There will always be identity. There will always be expression, and identity, or some piece of the trans experience, whether it be societal, physiological, or even completely internal, in perpetuity, that lives through every transgender person.
"Death before Detransition" means that the only way to erase my reality as a transgender woman is to put me in the ground.
We'll talk damage control and ways to help in the coming days and weeks. I welcome input on the topic as well- if there's a cause you want recognition for that will suffer under the new administration, let me know.
But for now, rest. Sleep. Take care of yourself.
I love you.

It's scary, and I'm devastated, and despite all that, I'm here for you. I have that same sense of dread and fear and disappointment as I did 8 years ago. I want to have the strength to fight, but for now, I'm just here to take care as best as I can. We'll make it through together.

Everything feels awful right now but it isn't really. We still don't officially have a winner, but regardless of how the presidential election ends up, I wanted to take a minute and find what lights I can in the 3 a.m. darkness. Here's what I know:
* Kentucky overwhelmingly rejected an attempt to undermine the public education system by offering private school vouchers:
* Delaware has elected a transgender woman to the House of Representatives, the first out trans person of any gender ever elected to congress:
* For the first time in history, two Black women will be serving in the senate at the same time, and they are only the fourth and fifth Black women ever elected to the senate:
* New York State has passed a constitutional amendment enshrining the rights of pregnant people (including the right to an abortion), LGBTQIA+ people, the disabled, immigrants regardless of legal status, and other at-risk groups:
* Democrat Josh Stein has beaten self-avowed Nazi Mark Robinson to become governor of North Carolina:
That's everything I know off the top of my head. It's not many bright spots, but it's not zero. I'm going to try to find more and I'll add them to the post. It's the only thing I can think of to do that isn't sobbing and throwing up or looking up Canadian immigration rules.
If you know more good news, I encourage you to add it in reblogs.

anyway, we get up, we make the bed, we feed the pets, we try to let kindness guide our encounters with the world, we scream and scream and scream and scream until it turns into manic laughter, we feed ourselves, we water the plants, etc
