urgent - please help me afford a place to live
hey everyone i hate having to do this and i feel really bad but my life has hit a snag and i really need help. i found out about a week ago that my current landlord is making me renew my lease by re applying rather than like, rolling it over. this would be ok except that they changed the income requirements and given that i am a student i no longer qualify. they also refuse to accept any co-signers. essentially i am being forced to leave the place i have lived in for almost 3 years against my will on very short notice. (as a side note: this is legal. it’s stupid but it is, unfortunately, very much legal). a few good things: i have a fantastic friend and future roommate who is also LGBT and has a stable full time job. i am a professional hairstylist and i work full time when i’m not in school, so paying rent will not be an issue.
however right now i am faced with a lot of fees to make this move happen that i absolutely cannot swing. if left to pay this alone i will be homeless - AGAIN. i am a full time student - pre-law, 3.5 gpa - i work hard at my job and have a large volume of request clientele, i have never been late on rent a day in my life. it frustrates me to tears being on the verge of homelessness again because of circumstances beyond my control. i was kicked out as a teenager for being gay and never looked back. my life has been a consistent uphill battle and i have never once given up because i can’t afford to. on top of everything it’s finals week right now, and my gpa is taking a beating while i try to manage this and trying to do well in five 200+ level classes simultaneously.
the place i’m looking at requires:
$1,050 security deposit (that would be $525 from me)
$300 pet deposit (i have to care for my cats, i didn’t expect this to happen at all)
$50 application fee
$300 holding fee

i can get the references, i managed to find a co-signer (and this place allows for one!), and i think my credit is ok enough to make it through. but i do not in any universe have this kind of money right now. i’m looking at over $1,000 in fees just to make this move happen.
i also need to move over the utilities and invest in furniture and etc for my new place, and while i had set aside money for that this entire fiasco has made it very daunting trying to afford everything i need to.
(as a side note: yes this place is as cheap and decent as we can possibly find and yes we have other places in a similar price range lined up just in case)
TL;DR i am a lesbian university student that was put out of my apartment due to my landlord screwing me, and i have a limited window of time to find and finance a new place. i have a full time job and i’m doing absolutely everything i can. i just need to make it through this. anything at all helps, thank you all in advance for everything.
my paypal is [email protected] and my cash app is $wishbyspirit. thank you all again.
