i think i was also struggling with what to do with elizabeth. her character is so intrinsically tied to being a woman that i feel turning her into a man with the purpose of victimizing ? (i suppose there's no better word) a genderbent victor when that's honestly already part of the story but the other way around feels like a disservice to her character. i always wanted to write something about elizabeth and justine bc they are both so tragic and already women in love under the pressure of living in the 18somethings but they don't have as much for me to chew on unfortunately. i still love them greatly i just don't know what id do trying to write something about them longform
