"juice" by ryo kawasaki (7. bamboo child)
i love the closer on this album, bamboo child. its beautiful. me and a couple friends we're listening to it throwing visions as to where the song plays and building a whole world around it. midnight bars, dark alleyways, "look behind you!!" type shit. this whole album has a los angeles feel to it, alot of funk jazz fusion does to me. for ryo to hit us with the bamboo child at the end was fully a monster move. the whole album is like palm trees and pinapples, but bamboo child is like the jet black forbidden fruit at the end. so good. juice, 1976

plant science is a class from the VOAG program at my school that i go to, and in that class is where i discovered how much i love bright beating red flowers. i love geraniums specifically the red ones. they bloom in this really compact circular form. last year whenever we'd be in the greenhouse doing maintenance i would always secretly pick a geranium off the stem and put it behind my ear like a pen. i love the red geraniums too because they always matched this bright red scarf an old friend bought for me on a trip out to chile. my shit was tying it around my neck like t or around my head like a babushka. i tend to repeat outfits alot so when id wear the scarf and this green sweatshirt id always look for one of them g's. i want to include them in something i make, i love them. just... eye candy. EYE CANDY. they go great with everything. hold a loafer up next to a geranium, hold a pair of brown slacks up next to a geranium, are you serious??! FUCK. GERANIUMS MAN. IM KILLING MYSELF. THANK YOU NATURE? I GUESS?

joao gilberto self titled 1961 (clear vinyl re-issue)
i love this cover art so much. its that green i think, very specific shade of that kelly green, looks so edible in real life. like im saying i wanna eat the fucking record. the photos do not do the cover art enough justice. its one of those things where you just want to to sit there in your bed and stare at it for hours. i have it sitting right in front of me purely for aesthetic purpose. of course i have the record playing but i couldve kept the cover and sleeve on my table where the record player is, nah, i just want it to sit there and look pretty. the album is amazing too (of course), composed by antonio carlos jobim, played by his orchestra, youd know him from some of the more popular samba stuff like his album "wave" from '67 and all that. hes a bossa nova hitmaker. acoustic guitar and vocals by gilberto himself, also beautiful. his voice is like if jesus christ was brazilian. and fuck these chords. so recognizably brazil, this album and others set the tone for european jazz moving forward. brilliant. wow. immense joy.
bought it at redscroll records in wallingford, where i usually get all my music from. go outside and go buy something, stay on ebay as little as possible, stay off amazon when you can. give yourself an experience. its good for the soul.

"We as human beings emit 14-20 photons just naturally by sitting there. But when we're in a state of contemplation we can emit up to 100,000 photons. This is why they call it enlightenment 'yo we are different. And it's not my fault if you don't know that you're fire." - Sk8board P
