" HACKSAW RIDGE"
In 1925 Lynchburg, Virginia, the young Desmond Doss nearly kills his brother during roughhousing. That event and his Seventh-day Adventist upbringing reinforce Desmond's belief in the commandment "Thou shalt not kill." Fifteen years later, Doss takes an injured man to the hospital and meets a nurse, Dorothy Schutte. They strike a romance, and Doss tells Dorothy of his interest in medical work.
After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Doss enlists in the US Army to serve as a combat medic. His father, Tom, a Great War veteran, is deeply upset by the decision. Before leaving for Fort Jackson, Desmond asks for Dorothy's hand in marriage, and she accepts.
Doss is placed in basic training under the command of Sergeant Howell. He excels physically but becomes a pariah among his fellow soldiers for refusing to handle a rifle and train on Saturdays. Howell and Captain Glover attempt to discharge Doss for psychiatric reasons under Section 8 but are overruled, as Doss's religious beliefs do not constitute mental illness. They subsequently torment Doss by putting him through grueling labor, intending to get Doss to leave of his own accord. Despite being beaten one night by his fellow soldiers, he refuses to identify his attackers and continues training.
Doss's unit completes basic training and is released on leave during which Doss intends to marry Dorothy, but his refusal to carry a firearm leads to an arrest for insubordination. Captain Glover and Dorothy visit Doss in jail and try to convince him to plead guilty so that he can be released without charge, but Doss refuses to compromise his beliefs. At his court-martial, Doss pleads not guilty, but before he is sentenced, his father barges into the tribunal with a letter from his former commanding officer (now a brigadier general) stating that his son's pacifism is protected by the US Constitution. The charges against Doss are dropped, and he and Dorothy are married.
Doss's unit is assigned to the 77th Infantry Division and deployed to the Pacific Theater. During the Battle of Okinawa, Doss's unit is informed that it will relieve the 96th Infantry Division, which was tasked with ascending and securing the Maeda Escarpment ("Hacksaw Ridge"). During the initial fight, with heavy losses on both sides, Doss saves the life of his squadmate Smitty, earning his respect. As the Americans camp for the night, Doss reveals to Smitty that his aversion to holding a firearm stems from nearly shooting his drunken father, who threatened his mother with a gun. Smitty apologizes for doubting his courage, and both reconcile.
The next morning, the Japanese launch a massive counterattack and drive the Americans off the escarpment. Smitty is killed, and Howell and several of Doss's squad mates are left injured on the battlefield. Doss hears the cries of dying soldiers and returns to save them, carrying the wounded to the cliff's edge and belaying them down by rope, each time praying to save one more. The arrival of dozens of wounded who had been presumed dead comes as a shock to the rest of the unit below. When day breaks, Doss rescues Howell, and both escape Hacksaw under enemy fire.
Captain Glover apologizes for dismissing Doss's beliefs as "cowardice" and states that they are scheduled to retake the ridge on Saturday but will not launch the next attack without him. Doss agrees, but the operation is delayed until after he concludes his Sabbath prayers. With reinforcements, they turn the tide of battle. In an ambush set by Japanese soldiers who pretend to surrender, Doss manages to save Glover and others by deflecting enemy grenades. Doss is wounded by the grenade blast, but the battle is won. Doss descends the cliff and clutches the Bible that Dorothy had given to him.

BLOG POST 1
How would you introduce yourself to the blogging community? Be creative ( at least 500 words)
In life, we encounter many things which make our life worthwhile. Challenges, hardships, trials and difficulties will always be there to hinder us in our search for a better world. But God is such wonderful that He never ceases to help and guide us. He's always there to give light in our path when we're in the midst of trouble and darkness. At my very early age, I thought of the unfairness in my environment. But as I continuously reflect on the events occurring in my life, my perception had changed. I realized that I'm still lucky because I was born in this world with ,parents who are so caring and loving. They taught me how to surpass all the burdens that come on my way and still coming into my life. Brace yourself as you get a glimpse of my life. Be ready as you read my untold stories.
I am a 16-year old boy. I live at Illuru Norte Rizal, Cagayan. I have 2 siblings and I am the eldest. I am the son of Pedro Guimay and Jenibel Gannaban. My parents are both teachers. I was born on March 6, 2004. And I’m currently studying at St. Paul University Philippines. I am a boy who is not showy of my feeling, a boy who is passionate to whatever he’s doing and a boy who hates bending his knees to surrender. But above them all, I am living a complete and simple life.
Living with a dream of becoming a pride and success for everyone. Not just because I want to but because I need to. I am an imperfect person with the only aim of being the best version of myself. A man who knows what he wants and most importantly a man who values what he needs. And when it comes to my hobbies/favorites, I don’t really have it at all. But I do have specific interests/hobbies like playing basketball, playing online games and watching movies.
This autobiography will not tell you who the author is instead it will tell you a story for you to know who the author is because telling a story is more truthful and convincing than saying who you are.
I was once an artist. I used to make slogans before and I also used to compete. It was all I have, it’s my game, my passion, and my field. That’s the only thing that I am capable of doing with trusting myself and capability. Yes, for me it’s fun after all the stress and hardships in finishing one output. I can still say that I’m okay because I love what I’m doing. I am myself through it.
But the world will not always be on your side. Ups and downs, wins and losses, happiness and sadness. They are all in there. And actually I can fully accept failure, I can deal with losing and I can also embrace rejection. But they just can’t.
I stopped making slogans, not because it’s my decision but maybe because I got tired and I lose my self-confidence. I lost my favorite. I am a 16-year old boy who has a dream, who wants to aim high, who wants to succeed and even the darkest days and times will never me. I am Mars Gannaban Guimay and this is me.
Life is about finding the meaning of the word uttered each day. Looking back at those years of solitude in my life, I can say that life's journey is never a promise of bed of roses or a smooth-sailing ride. It is an uphill struggle- a constant one. The road maybe long, uncertain. At my present age, I'm proud to say that I've already experienced challenges of life and was able to surpass them. I know that these challenges were merely the savor of life. But at the age of 16, I can say I am getting there.
Answer the folowing:
1. Where do I see myself 10 years from now? Is my knowing to SPUP vital to where ai'm leading to?
I see myself 10 years from now a successful person, that I managed to finish my studies, got the job I want which is Seaman and continuing my journey in my life and also helping my siblings finish their studies and provide my parents a peaceful living. And I think that SPUP is vital on where I'm leading to because SPUP teaches high education where I can enhance my skills and knowledge.
2. Was HUMMS the best choice after all?
Yes, because it helps me more gain and expand my knowledge about the job I want to be in the future.
3. What course will you take on college and why?
Marine, because I want to be Seaman someday. Because I would like to follow the footsteps of my uncle. I also want to be a Seaman because of large wages per month and also I will get to travel to different countries.
4. What topic would you like to learn more about this subject?
I would like to learn more about technologies. About the proper way to use it so that we won't abbuse on the proper way to use it and more ideas will barge so that our work will be easier to do with these technologies.
5. What the Corona Virus has taught you about life?
It taught me that I should never give up and just believe on myself that I can surpass it even though the challenges or the situation are very hard. No matter how many times I stumble, I must stand up immediately and continue fighting. And the most important thing is that always have faith in God, because if you have god beside you everything is possible.

" Life of Pi*
The story begins in a small family zoo in Pondichery, India, where the boy christened Piscine is raised. Piscine translates from French to English as "swimming pool," but in an India where many more speak English than French, his playmates of course nickname him "pee." Determined to put an end to this, he adopts the name "Pi," demonstrating an uncanny ability to write down that mathematical constant that begins with 3.14 and never ends. If Pi is a limitless number, that is the perfect name for a boy who seems to accept no limitations.
The zoo goes broke, and Pi's father puts his family and a few valuable animals on a ship bound for Canada. In a bruising series of falls, a zebra, an orangutan, a hyena and the lion tumble into the boat with the boy, and are swept away by high seas. His family is never seen again, and the last we see of the ship is its lights disappearing into the deep — a haunting shot that reminds me of the sinking train in Bill Forsyth's "Housekeeping" (1987).
This is a hazardous situation for the boy (Suraj Sharma), because the film steadfastly refuses to sentimentalize the tiger (fancifully named "Richard Parker"). A crucial early scene at the zoo shows that wild animals are indeed wild and indeed animals, and it serves as a caution for children in the audience, who must not make the mistake of thinking this is a Disney tiger.
The heart of the film focuses on the sea journey, during which the human demonstrates that he can think with great ingenuity and the tiger shows that it can learn. I won't spoil for you how those things happen. The possibilities are surprising.
Guide Questions:
1. What life lesson can be learned from the movie?
Life Of Pi is a story of perseverance and a story of not giving up, even in the harshest of conditions. Pi didn’t give up hope and he kept moving. Whether it’s the black sea or the dark clouds or the ominous waves or the hungry predator as company, Pi never gave up hope of survival. Similarly, for an entrepreneur, it’s important to remember, that the darkest days are not going to last. It’s important, not to give up on your dreams and give up on life.
2. What part of the story told by the movie was the most powerful? Why?
For me the most powerful story told by the movie is win by and the tiger became friends because an animal like the tiger is very hard to be with specially on their situation that there's no one who can help them but only themselves.
3. Who was your favorite character in the movie? Why?
Pi and the Tiger because they both manage to survive in the sea and live when their situation is very hopeless.
4. Did anything that happened in the movie remind you of something that has occurred in your own life or that you have seen occur to others?
Yes, it remind me of something that occured in my life because in my life I had encountered lots of challenges that are hard to surpass but even though it is hard I never lose hope and keeping on believing on myself that I can do it.
