Simple Evaluation:
Maya Work:
Out of all the things I've done for this project, I found this to be the most difficult. At first I found it hard as I'm not used to creating things digitally 3D. After some practice I would say I've got a slight understanding for it but definitely need more practice with parts of the software, if I want to use it in the future.
I think with the creation of my landscape, there were times that I had trouble with parts of the process but was able to reverse my problems and then restart again to get it correct. For the final piece, I am cheerful with the appearance as it is how I envisioned Crete Mountain from the description we were given.
Animation Work:
As I am most used to this as I have been making other animations for some other projects I am volunteering in. My animations were quite simple but I think they work for what I wanted, as I didn't want to do anything too difficult for the small time we had for all the project.
It was a simple animation, in one of the frames there is sort of a hiccup were you can see a slight change in the movement of the character but I think it adds character to it.
Plushie Work:
This was a new step, but I seemed to get the handle on it pretty quickly. I am pretty happy with the finished product and how the stitching came out. It was slightly easier as I did buy a pre ready pattern but it did help and did take out a problem that I would have had earlier in the process.
Raze came out how I sort of intended them to turn out. The things I didn't fully intend for was the feathers on the head and the look of the eyes, but I think it pulls the whole thing together.

Final details going onto the plushie
I made the eyes at home from foam and used an acrylic pen and my podcast pen to draw out the details of it. I added some feather shaped felt to the top of the head for more realistic detail. I’m really happy with the end result and how everything worked out in the end. There are quite a few differences in the art design to the finished plushie but I think it worked out in the end.

Independent Development
Research - what were you aiming for? Give examples to aim for.
The research I did was of the shapes of mountains and how the rocky and snowy features are dotted around the top.
Plan - what were you using the research for - what is the target of your process?
My target with the use of my research was to understand how the structure of the top of a mountain worked. By using it I planned for on area to be a tip top bit and the lower half to work as a flat surface to walk on.
Problem Solving - what is the problem and the solutions you are using to overcome them and achieve your goal?
My problems at first when making my model, was getting the right shape using the lift tool to get over it I did many tries until I got some were which I liked the look of. Another part was making the trees, it seems simple at first but planning where you want the features for parts can sometimes be difficult. I did get a final piece which I'm happy with after having to solve parts which were considered a problem when I was in the making process.
Review - Was this process successful?
I did find that going through this process was useful and that it did achieve a final piece at the end. For others it maybe different on how it works for them, but on my end it functioned.

Plushies compared to mine
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Todokitty - As these were made to be bought in bulk and were manufactured, my guessing on the making process was similar to mine but the ears were sewn separate and attached to the head, so were the legs. The body was sewn together from two different pieces one being the front and back of the plushie. The patch on the head would have been sewn together probably with a whip stitch.
Classmates plushies - We've all done a close enough method when it came to our stitching, but we've all had to work around our material differently to make the desired shape we wanted to each part of the plushies.

Plushie Marketplaces:
One promotes as ‘Hatchling day’ - are they real?
- The ‘Hatchling day’ works as a way to promote when a new design of theirs is coming out of one of their spider plushies. As ‘hatchling’ refers to when a spider escapes from the egg sack when fully developed. I like how they decide to promote them that way, as it makes you think that the plushies are actually real.
Look at pricing - how much can you sell for?
- As they are more experienced in their works they can sell for higher prices, whilst I having less I would have to sell for a lower price, so around £15 - 20. This is taking material prices, time taken on the plushie and other factors which go around it.
Why does this work as a concept for buyers?
- The concept of this works for buyers, as they use it to connect with the products they're selling. It works as a marketing scheme as well which pushes people to take more interest into their shop and the things they sell.

Colouring Maya Landscape
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When colouring this the steps made for this:
Right click on mouse
Select Face(s)
Select the amount wanted to be coloured
Then 'Assign New Material
Change it to the colour you want
Finished
At first this was sort of hard to select everyone that I wanted to colour, but in the end I selected the whole landscape and colour it white at first (for snow), and then added some green at the bottom. There are a few specs of grey to show off the rock of the mountain.

This is a small animation I’ve done for a MAP that I’m in. This is just the beginning of it but I’m really happy with the sketch result of it so I wanted to add it onto my blog for an animation piece
It is of my character Ghost

3 Low Poly Artists
Pelopoly
Tumblr media
Eslam Mhd
Tumblr media
It Happy
Tumblr media
How does the selected artist's use of colour contribute to the overall design of their environment?
Pelopoly uses soft colours which make the environment more appealing to look out, they may change this when it comes to neon lighting as those colours have to pop out, for attraction. The background show a light version of the most used one and a white illumination behind it, like the sun. They also have a shadow in the front which makes the environment even more realistic.
Eslam has sort of done the same thing as Pelopoly with their background in a couple of pieces. But with the main objects there are more daring colours use, which makes them stand out even more.
It Happy uses a more natural colour palette which works with the environment that they're making. Which allows for a realistic feel, even though it maybe only a few colours used. They keep the same coloured background for all their pieces, which keeps the focus on the main piece.
Analyse the artist's art style in relation to the arrangement and composition of their artworks.
Their art style is quite simple, as they probably use quite a small amount of polygons. In some of their pieces there can be found a few places were there is more detail used. This has lead to the arrangement to their pieces is quite closed in, but there are still some areas which are spacious.
They use a more refined art style, as in each piece they have used a fair amount of detail. This has lent to the arrangement of things being at a reasonable amount of space away from each other, which you would find in real life.
It Happy is the same as Eslam when it comes to this; as they both go for very realistic landscapes in their works. Even so I would say that It Happy's art style is somewhat less refined than Eslam's.
Differentiate the artist's use of colour, art style, and design elements in their various artworks to identify any recurring themes or techniques.
Pelopoly has a pattern of using the same style background for each piece. For the artwork itself, they're all boxed into a boxed area.
The main patterns in Eslam's work is the shaping of their pieces, as parts are either a squarish shape and when it comes to corners they maybe rounded off to have a sleek look.
It Happy makes boxed off environments like Pelopoly,
What elements of the work can you use in your own design?
As I’ve already created the base for my environment, I think the artist(s) connect to my one is It Happy as the hill landscape they made were sort of smooth like mine. When it comes to colouring though I think it will be Pelopoly as I want to go for a sort of pastel natural tone for my environment.

Low Poly Environment Moodboards
Tumblr media
This contains aspects of the biome I want to make. The mountain part being done so already, but when it comes to foliage I may add either a few trees or one big one. With the top of the mountain being in the highest part of the atmosphere, you can view the stars very clearly. Which may give a glow to the landscape around it.

Questions:
How effectively does the low poly 3D artwork utilise minimalistic design principles to convey complex objects or scenes?
Answers:
Sometimes artists aim to convey objects and scenes with the least amount of polygons necessary, which strips away the chance of unnecessary complexity. This allowing viewers to focus on the core elements in the design. This is quite effective by using low poly and allows for a calmer feel.
In what ways does the low poly 3D artwork utilise colour palettes and shading techniques to enhance depth and create a visually appealing composition?
Answer:
Colour schemes are strategically used to highlight different elements and aspects. This creates depth, and evokes certain moods or atmospheres. Bold colours contribute to make the eye-catching nature of the art. Shading techniques for low poly art sort of mix into the colour palette, which does make it simpler but helps everything mix together, feeling more natural.
Can you identify any areas in the low poly 3D artwork that could benefit from improved detailing or refinement to enhance overall realism and believability?
Answer:
Making the landscape of low poly art is hard at first, as on Maya you start with high poly and reduce it down to low poly. This does help though as you can now have a chance to see it from two different quality areas. I would say though an area that could benefit in improving would be the use of a higher sub-division. Sadly if using one higher than 8, the programme crashes this maybe because there is also a high radius scale too, but for people who want to do this higher up in the industry on bigger projects may find it difficult, if it's needed and they can't do so.
