SNAPCHAT
Filters, lenses, and stickers
Snaps can be personalised with various forms of visual effects and stickers. Geofilters are graphical overlays available if the user is within a certain geographical location, such as a city, event, or destination. Users can design and create their own geofilters for personal events at a fee of $10–15 USD per hour. They can also subscribe to an annual plan which ranges from $1,000 to $10,000 depending on the location, for a permanent filter. A similar feature known as Geostickers was launched in 10 major cities in 2016. Bitmoji are stickers featuring personalised cartoon avatars, which can be used in snaps and messaging. Bitmoji characters can also be used as World Lenses.
The "Lens" feature, introduced in September 2015, allows users to add real-time effects into their snaps by using face detection technology. This is activated by long-pressing on a face within the viewfinder. In April 2017, Snapchat extended this feature into "World Lenses", which use augmented reality technology to integrate 3D rendered elements (such as objects and animated characters) into scenes; these elements are placed and anchored in 3D space.

Walle
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For My FMP with Chris I'm looking into propaganda posters. I want to take things in the post apocalyptic direction so I figured Walle might have some good inspiration. At first glance you might think this is a weird choice. However at many points during the Movie we get to see abandoned posters and adverts for the company BuynLarge. the company has posters advertising their robots that are meant to clean the world of pollution and garbage. the layout of this poster has a propaganda WW2 feel to it, the way the robots are lined up in a row has a very military feel about it. it also has a catch slogan: "working to dig you out". I really like this'd I want a similar slogan for my poster.

Soviet Posters
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The 1960s and 1980s saw a surge in Soviet rocket posters, reflecting the country's immense investment and focus on space exploration during that period. These posters were designed to capture the imagination and national pride of the Soviet people, showcasing the technological achievements and advancements of their space program.
Many of these posters featured bold, colorful designs, depicting rockets launching into space, cosmonauts floating weightlessly in zero gravity, and the earth seen from above. The imagery was often accompanied by inspirational slogans, such as "The conquest of space is the cause of the entire Soviet people!" or "Explore space, conquer new worlds!" I would like a similar slogan of my poster.
Linking these posters to Noah's Ark might seem like an unexpected connection at first glance, but it actually makes a certain amount of sense. Both the Soviet space program and the story of Noah's Ark are driven by a sense of adventure, exploration, and a desire to push the boundaries of what is possible. In both cases, the goal is to chart new territory and achieve something that has never been done before. Additionally, both the Soviet space program and Noah's Ark are powerful symbols of national identity and pride, representing the capabilities and achievements of a particular culture or society.
For my own poster I want to make sure to include the same red and yellow colour palette as the soviet posters. I also really want a strong powerful slogan posted prominently on my poster.

Dark Crystal
The Dark Crystal is a fantasy film that was released in 1982. The film was directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz and featured creatures and artwork by Brian Froud. The film is set on the planet Thra, which is ruled by the Skeksis, a race of cruel and powerful bird-like creatures.
The Gelflings are a race of small, elf-like creatures that inhabit Thra. They are peaceful and live in harmony with nature, and possess a deep connection to the planet's life force, known as the Crystal of Truth.
The Skeksis are a corrupted and power-hungry faction of the once-peaceful UrSkeks. They have subjugated the Gelflings and seek to drain the Crystal of Truth's energy to prolong their lives.
The Mystics are the peaceful counterparts to the Skeksis. They are tall, wise, and possess a deep understanding of Thra's nature. They are also in tune with the Crystal of Truth, and their power comes from their connection to it.
The artwork by Brian Froud in the Dark Crystal is characterized by its fantastical, otherworldly style, featuring elaborate costumes, intricate designs, and fantastical creatures. Froud also designed the world of Thra, which is filled with mystical creatures, strange landscapes, and fantastical environments.
Overall, the Dark Crystal is a unique and fascinating work of fantasy, incorporating intricate artwork and an imaginative mythology to create a rich and immersive world.

Apocalyptic Landscape
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Tundra and Bottomlands are two distinct types of landscapes that can be found in various parts of the world. Both landscapes have their unique characteristics and could present challenges to survivors in an apocalyptic scenario.
The tundra is a cold, treeless landscape found in high latitudes of the northern hemisphere. It is characterized by low precipitation, permafrost, and a short growing season. Due to the harsh conditions, few species of plants and animals have adapted to survive in the tundra. The tundra may pose challenges for survivors in an apocalyptic scenario due to the lack of food sources and shelter. However, the permafrost may provide a long-term source of preservation for food and other resources.
Bottomlands are low-lying areas along rivers and streams that are subject to flooding. These areas are typically rich in nutrients and can support a wide variety of plant and animal life. In an apocalyptic scenario, bottomlands could potentially provide a source of food and water for survivors. However, the risks of flooding and exposure to waterborne diseases would need to be taken into account.
Here are some links for further information on the tundra and bottomlands:

Saddled Animals
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are many different types of animals that have been ridden and saddled by humans over the years. I have picked three that I feel are the coolest. Firstly is the war elephant, during the early Middle Ages and towards the late medievals ages the war elephant was used by many militaries at the time. People would strap giant holders and small stone towers on top of the elephants, this was incredibly inhumane to the elephants. However it did prove very effective in battle. Soldiers would sit atop with pikes and stab those that attempted to attach the elephant.
Next is the humble horse, the horse and saddle has remained a classic throughout a lot of humanities recorded history. Horses are way faster than elephants and can run longer distances without fatiguing. Although horses are faster than elephants they do have a weakness. They need constant food and water, without this they will get stomach and die. This means they’re unable to travel areas of land that don’t have greenery or a sauce of water. Horses are unable to travel deserts, wastelands and any sort of frozen tundra. However there is an animal that has overcome this issue.
Camels are the perfect ride for travel through any sort of desert whether it be frozen or hot. Camels have the ability to regurgitate their stomach and recycle the food they’ve previously eaten. This means they can go weeks without food or water, the perfect creature for traversing a post apocalyptic environment.
With our beast project I think it would have benefited us to think about things like this, for example why is the beast falling and collapsing. Is it from starvation? Or perhaps the nuclear environment has finally withered the beast beyond repair? What was it eating? This might be why it’s now dyeing, the food it eats has been radiated into an unnutritious  pulp. Thinking like this soon starts to influence the way you design and build the beast. We could have added tumours to parts of it’s body. maybe the citizens have food refineries for the beast. But perhaps something went wrong causing the beast to resort back to it’s old diet and eventually resulting in killing it.

Beast Below DR Who
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I loved the design of the giant whale in Doctor Who's "The Beast Below" episode! It had cool markings on its skin and the blue-gray colors made it feel otherworldly. Plus, the whale wasn't just there to look pretty - it was being used to power a spaceship, which was a really cool idea.
The floating city was also amazing. It had a steampunk vibe with lots of clockwork details and ornate designs. It looked old-fashioned but also futuristic at the same time, which was a unique and interesting combo.
Overall, the design of both the whale and the city was so impressive! The attention to detail and cool color choices made the episode feel immersive and kept me engaged throughout. I was definitely impressed!

Behemoth
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, the Behemoth is a mysterious creature mentioned in the Hebrew Bible's book of Job. It's described as a huge and powerful animal that eats grass like an ox and moves its tail like a cedar tree. People have been arguing for centuries about what this creature actually is - some think it could be a hippopotamus or an elephant, while others believe it might be a mythical creature like a dragon or a dinosaur.
The Behemoth is mentioned in a conversation between Job and God about the nature of suffering and the limits of human understanding. Some people think that the Behemoth is a symbol of the overwhelming power of nature and the incredible majesty of God's creation.
So, basically, the Behemoth is this mysterious creature that's been puzzling people for a long time. Even though we don't know exactly what it is, it's still an interesting part of the biblical tradition that has sparked lots of debate and discussion over the years.

Unreal Animals Made by Scientists
youtube
The humanzee is a hypothetical hybrid of chimpanzee and human, thus a form of human–animal hybrid. Serious attempts to create such a hybrid were made by Soviet biologist Ilya Ivanovich Ivanov in the 1920s, and possibly by researchers in China in the 1960s, though neither succeeded.
Tumblr media
The liger is a hybrid offspring of a male lion and a female tiger. The liger has parents in the same genus but of different species. The liger is distinct from the similar hybrid called the tigon, and is the largest of all known extant felines.
Tumblr media
A cama is a hybrid between a male dromedary camel and a female llama, and has been produced via artificial insemination at the Camel Reproduction Centre in Dubai. The first cama was born on January 14, 1998.

Moon Wobble
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The "Moon Wobble" is a natural fluctuation in the Moon's orbit that occurs over an 18.6-year cycle. During this cycle, the Moon's gravitational pull on Earth varies slightly, which can amplify the effects of high tides and storm surges, leading to increased flooding in coastal areas.
Here are some potential effects that the Moon Wobble could have on the world:
Flooding: As the Moon's gravitational pull varies, it can amplify the effects of high tides and storm surges, leading to increased flooding in coastal areas.
Infrastructure damage: Coastal flooding can damage critical infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and buildings, leading to disruptions and costly repairs.
Agricultural impacts: The increased flooding and storm surges could also impact agricultural areas, leading to crop damage and reduced yields.
Insurance costs: As coastal flooding becomes more frequent and severe, insurance costs for properties in vulnerable areas could increase.
Human displacement: In extreme cases, coastal flooding could force people to relocate, leading to population displacement and social disruption.
Economic impacts: The costs of dealing with the effects of the Moon Wobble, such as repairing infrastructure and compensating those affected, could have a significant impact on local and national economies.

Two by Two animation
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Two by Two is a visually stunning animated movie that's set in a world that's full of color and wonder. The movie takes place on a lush, tropical island that's been flooded, and the attention to detail in the environmental design is impressive. The water and foliage look particularly realistic and the various creatures inhabiting the island are beautifully rendered, with detailed character designs and realistic fur and feathers.
The animation is also quite impressive, with well-executed movements and expressions that bring the characters to life. The movie's character design is creative and memorable, with each creature having its own distinct look and personality. The use of lighting and shading helps to enhance the atmosphere and create a sense of depth in the environment, especially during the underwater sequences.
Despite its strengths, Two by Two does have some flaws. While the animation is generally well-done, there are a few moments where the character movements feel stiff or unnatural, which can be distracting for some viewers. Additionally, the story can be somewhat predictable at times, with a plot that follows a fairly standard adventure movie formula.
Overall, Two by Two is an enjoyable and visually impressive movie that's definitely worth checking out. The movie's creative design and attention to detail in its environmental and character design are some of its standout features, even if it does have some predictable elements in its story.

USCSS Covenant Alien
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The USCSS Covenant is a colonization spacecraft in the Alien franchise, operated by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. Its purpose is to transport a large crew of colonists, along with embryos and other resources, to a distant planet in order to establish a new human settlement.
The ship is equipped with advanced technology, including a terraforming bay that can create a habitable environment on the new planet, as well as hypersleep chambers that allow the crew and colonists to travel for years in suspended animation.
The Covenant is led by a small crew, including a captain, a pilot, and a science officer. However, the ship also carries a large number of colonists and their families, who are meant to establish a new human civilization on the target planet.
The events of the movie "Alien: Covenant" revolve around the ship and its crew as they encounter the dangerous Alien creature and are forced to fight for survival. The ship itself is a central setting for the movie and plays a significant role in the plot.

Part 2 Animation
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The previous week I had tried to create a rotoscope animation using a gif I found on the internet. However dew to the pixelated nature of the gif it made it very hard to trace my design on top, so I enlisted the help of Josh. Josh very kindly helped draw me a character design for my fox and rabbit. I really like how they turned out, they look very similar to the Simpsons character designs. After all the colour was added I moved onto the animation part.
Instead of trying to do another rotoscope animation I decided I would hand draw everything myself. By using the opacity feature I was able to draw on top of the previous layer and add a little bit of movement. This proved far more successful than my previous attempt using the rotoscope method. To save myself having to redraw the same thing I copied and pasted the rabbit design and just added small distances on the face.
Overall I’m relatively happy with how the final result turned out, it still feels rather clunky. I believe this is simply because I don’t have enough frames per second for my animation. If I had more time on this project I would have liked to improve the adopt of frames.

Stage 3, Adding Clay To The Beast
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Previously me and Oliver had spent the day adding cardboard to the beast ready for the next step, Kirstie then added gauze bandages to the card board to give it more integrity and strength to the model ready for the clay. Thank you Kirstie, this made mine and Ollie’s  job much much easier and faster.
It was now time to add the detail to the model in the form of clay, we used air drying clay. Yet again me and ollie started from the back of the legs and worked our way up. In the early stages you don’t want to try and add detail, you’re simply just adding bulk to the model and getting the rough shape of it. Only then should detail be added.
Overall it took me and Oliver around 3/4 hours to finish the legs, back, belly and part of the arms. It was then at that point me and ollie called in for backup, we realised that if we wanted to get thins thing finished by the end of the day we would need others to help out. Others helped finish the model and by the end of the day it was done. I took a break when others stepped in, as I needed to do my blog work and tie a few loose ends. However towards the end of the day I started to paint some of the areas that where mostly dry. I mixed up a solution of black acrylic and PVA glue.
While me and ollie where working on the model by ourselves in the morning, it turned out others where working on creating and painting metal panels for the beast. These where then attached and added to the beast with a drill and screws. adding the panels where some of the last steps to the beast.
Overall it was a very very busy day, everyone chipped in and helped where and when they could. At no point was anyone left without a job that needed doing. It was really nice to see everyone working together as a team.

Stage 2 of the Beast, Cardboard
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ollie and me had previously attached the beast to a board, it was now our job to start adding some bulk and definition to him. We would use: cardboard, hot glue, masking tape and a load of patience to do this. We started at the back of creature at the legs. We weren’t trying to create detail to the beast, only add a layer of cardboard over all the wire so we could then later add mort rock and clay to create the true detail. What me and ollie where doing was simply the grunt work. It actually was too bad, we got to the whole workshop to ourself and where able to listen to some music while working. (No flame throwers this time). The only times I completely despised the job was when I got hot glue burns.
The job took around 8 hours to finish, thats a long time to be doing the exact same task and adding cardboard to a model! I think by around hour 6 both me and ollie where burned out. However at no point did we ever crumble and ask for help.

Rick&Morty Pool of Acid Episode
I found the "Pool of Acid" episode of Rick and Morty to be a visual feast. The color palette was bold and striking, utilizing vibrant hues to create a sense of otherworldly dread and danger. The character designs were excellent, with each character possessing a distinct and exaggerated look that was both humorous and memorable. I would love for my character design to have a very similar look to very distinct rick and Morty style. The animation was fluid and dynamic, using a mix of traditional 2D and 3D techniques to create a unique and eye-catching visual style. Overall, the "Pool of Acid" episode showcased the talented animators and artists behind Rick and Morty, and was a true example of artistry in animation.
