Obviously we aren’t out doing things, we’re at home/this is an old pic. But we were thinking about how San Francisco and Seattle have a lot in common. Both: - kind of chilly weather year round (sea cooler & rainier) - nature / hiking options (tho different types of options) - tech companies (more in SF) - high cost of living (SF higher) - a lot of homeless ppl (more in SF) - lots to do (more in SF) - fair bit of traffic (worse in SF) - they both have piers/wharfs/ports - west coast / left coast - diverse in some ways (sf more) - many tourists visit Can you think of any other similarities? If you’ve been to both, which do you prefer? . . . . . #sanfranciscovsseattle #sf #sanfrancisco #seattle #debate #cities #americancities #westcoast #techhubs #interesting https://ift.tt/2JmV7hP

Who can relate? 😅 Not much in daily life has changed for us (just need to find somewhere with tp soon and not making big travel plans). Definitely feel bad for everyone who is being negatively impacted by the virus, though! . . . . #meme #quarantine #remotework #washington #remoteworkers #funny #covid_19 #coronavirusmeme #homepeople #socialdistancing #workfromhome https://ift.tt/2x6lnK6

On our trip down to FL/TN a few months ago, Kyle’s favorite surprise of the trip was Idaho. I found it strange bc I had been to Idaho as a kid and always thought it was nice but he thought it was just 🥔 potatoes! Now we’re living 30 min from Idaho. This weekend we checked out the area around Wallace which is about 1.5 hrs away. Have you ever had a false impression about a place that you only realized upon visiting? . . . . #idaho #wallace #wallaceidaho #idahoexplored #travel #cutetown #visitidaho #mountains #mountaintown #historicaltown #offseason #empty https://ift.tt/38P7r4F

Many states have different climates in different areas, and Washington is one of them! People who haven’t lived here don’t always realize it but the western side of WA has a different climate than the eastern side. Spokane has a dry summer continental climate whereas Seattle has a temperate/modified Mediterranean climate. Here are some stats for Seattle vs Spokane: Average high in July Seattle - 72 F Spokane - 84 F Average low in January Seattle - 39 F Spokane - 22 F Average amount of snowfall/yr Seattle - ~5 inches Spokane - 44 inches # of rainy days in January Seattle - 14 Spokane - 9 Which climate do you prefer? . . . . . #spokane #seattle #trees #climate #washinton #pnw #rainy #hike #green #humid #rainy #eastvswest #westernwashington #weather #usa https://ift.tt/3cN85Tb

Around early to mid January we started thinking about doing a trip to China. The flight prices were good and we’ve just wanted to go for a long time. First we were going to do something specific there as an early birthday trip for me. Then we changed our minds and decided we would go somewhere else specific as an early bday trip for Kyle. (While we both want to see a lot, we have certain things personal to each of us that we’ve wanted to do in China for a long time). Then the new coronavirus started becoming more of a thing plus we finally found a place in Spokane so it didn’t happen. Has the virus played a role in your travel plans? Last weekend we did our first hike ⛰here which was supposed to be a quick/short thing because we just wanted to do a little something and it was but the snow ❄️(which we weren’t expecting) made it take quite a bit longer since we didn’t want to fall (and also we went the wrong way at first). One cool thing is this was also only about ten minutes away. That reminded us of the kind of hikes we liked close to us in San Jose. The name also reminded us of San Jose: Stevens Creek Trail. We even got a little active snowfall at the top. This weekend we have too many other things to take care of but maybe next weekend we’ll be able to try another. Look how the trees change to more frosty further up 🙂 . . . . #ilercreek #rocksofsharon #spokane #pnw #hikingadventures #washingtonstate #nature #snow #snowy #trees #pretty #spokanegram https://ift.tt/32j66kH

Hope everyone had a nice Valentine’s Day! Our treat was finally being able to check out the city (Spokane) a little bit after working and doing moving stuff this week. This heart display was in the mall and another couple immediately offered to take our photo. People seem nice! We definitely like what we’ve seen so far. . . . . #marriedwithmaps #couple #valentinesday #moving #heart #vdaydisplay #spokane #easternwa #walkingaroundtown #couplephoto https://ift.tt/39zlw71

Did you know Seattle as we see it is now is not on the original ground level? There is a network of passageways underneath which used to be the city. We learned all about this on a tour last weekend. Some interesting stuff! . . . . #seattleundergroundtour #billspiedelsundergroundtour #seattle #history #seattlehistory #undergroundpassageways #sea #interesting https://ift.tt/2RMC3hL

Today is National Plan Your Vacation Day! Who has their vacation(s) planned for the year? We’re not sure how much vacation-ing we’ll be doing yet but we do plan to travel more than this year. Soon we’ll finally be able to plan more. So far there is a work conference in Vegas. Who knows what else (we don’t) but guess if you want to! 📸: Bagan . . . #planyourvacation #nationalplanforvacationday #travel #wheretogo #myanmar #bagan #sunrise #travelplanning #travelblog https://ift.tt/2S0HJU6

It’s starting to melt now but we really enjoyed having a few days of snow ❄️ We aren’t big on yard work but it even made us rethink the idea of having a yard whenever we buy a place if it’s somewhere with snow ⛄️. How special it is to have your own personal winter wonderland! Especially with no commute. #workviews We would want a proper sled though as we found a baking pan didn’t work as we’d hoped. . . . . #pnwsnow #washington #northofseattle #snowy #snowinwa #pretty #extendedchristmas #bells #treesinsnow #winterfun #remoteworkers https://ift.tt/2Rqlk2h

One thing we’re thinking about for 2020 is a trek. Probably something small, just one or two nights but it would be something new to try. We’d prefer self-guided, though. Also, maybe lower elevation. The Boeing Factory in Everett is the *largest building in the world by volume*. Pretty neat! We’ve been wanting to check it out for a while (it’s close) and finally did. Who is working on planning their 2020? We’re trying to figure out where we’ll be, where we’ll travel, etc. We have big birthdays and a big anniversary next year so we’re thinking about plans for those too. Any suggestions? PNW roads with a little fluff sitting on the trees. We drove up to Bellingham today and thought it was really nice! It was also nice how it felt like we were in the mountains the whole time but the road wasn’t windy (wine-dee) and there weren’t crazy turns. Also, did you know yesterday was one of the rainiest days in the area on record? . . . . #washington #driving #rainy #clouds #fluff #nature #pnwadventures https://ift.tt/391wS41
