galinda changing her name to glinda and most of her "good" acts in act one can be interpreted as a critique of white feminism- she, the conventionally attractive white girl, is constantly praised for doing the bare minimum in terms of activism while her counterpart who is actually concerned about the wellbeing of the animals (elphaba) is ignored and shamed because she's fundamentally different from the people around her
