🐱🌈 Harley the cat 🌈🐱 🌹 2012 - 2021 🌹 Today I had to make the hardest decision I think I’ve ever had to make. My 8 year old girl, Harley, has been put to sleep. She’s now with our family dog, Sandy, who went to sleep in 2014 🌈 Close to my 21st birthday, I didn’t want anything like clothes or makeup. I really wanted a cat, so we found someone who had a litter of half tabbys/half bengals. We went along and Harley instantly stood out as she was the only one with some ginger on her. I instantly fell in love with her, and so we reserved her. When she was ready to leave her mum, we went to collect her on my 21st birthday, and we also took her brother Alfie as he was the last kitten left and me and my mum couldn’t say no. She was as large as life, a vocal chunky girl with the squeakiest meow. An absolute beauty, and will always by my baby. Sadly, in November 2020 we noticed she was losing a lot of weight, and was turning her nose up at Whiskas food. Which wasn’t a surprise as our other girls, Lily and Luna, were doing the same. So we changed the food, and she was eating it like there was no tomorrow. We thought great she will fatten up again. In January 2021 we noticed she was only putting weight on around her abdomen, and was still quite bony around the rest of her body. We thought let’s see if it evens out. But then a few days passed and we noticed her breathing was labored and decided to get her into the vets. Yesterday we was given the horrific news that she had end stage liver cancer which has led to failure, nothing could be done. She was in pain, extremely jaundiced and with the breathing struggles we thought it best be sooner rather than later. So we had to make the awful decision to let her go, which happened at 5pm today. She went very peacefully, in my arms, into a deep sleep. She’s pain free now 🌈 We’re all in shock, as this form of cancer was extremely aggressive. She still purred away even at the last moments.
