A Plea from the Heart: I Am Fatima, and This Is My Story

My name is Fatima, a teacher from Gaza. I used to work in a small school I loved dearly, planting hope in the hearts of children and teaching them that tomorrow could be better. But the war took everything away. My school was bombed, I lost my job, and our home was reduced to rubble. Yet, I refused to give up. I set up a small tent amid the destruction and continued teaching children, showing them that knowledge is a light that cannot be extinguished, even in the darkest times.

My husband, Akram, was my partner and pillar of support. But he was severely injured in an attack targeting civilians. His abdominal injuries are so severe that he can no longer work or even lift basic items. Every day, I see the pain in his eyes and feel the weight of helplessness, but I try to stay strong for him and for our children.

Our eldest, Manar, is four years old, and she’s missing out on her childhood amidst this devastation. Our youngest, Ibrahim, was born under bombardment just a year ago. He has suffered greatly due to the lack of milk and proper medical care. Yet, sometimes, he smiles, and in those brief moments, I find the strength to keep going.

We now live in a fragile tent that doesn’t shield us from the cold or rain. Every day is a new battle for survival. I write these words while holding my children’s hands, with nothing left but my faith in God and the hope that your kind hearts will hear our plea.

Please help us provide milk and food for our children, ease Akram’s pain, and rebuild even a small part of the life the war has destroyed. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a big difference in our lives.

I am so thankful that most of my Palestinian family members have survived, but the fact that some of them didn't (one of whom was a child only fifteen when he died) will weigh on my soul forever. And even through that suffering I know I am fortunate, for many more people have lost their families entirely, and even more have been killed. There isn't anything I can say that hasn't been already said, but please keep Palestinians in your heart in the coming days, and in the years after. Don't forget what has happened.

I am so so happy that our friend marah @mahrahpalestine and her family were able to survive the ethnic cleaning campaign in Palestine! Now we can be more at ease and focus on helping our friends continue to survive and rebuild their lives.

Hey everyone. I wanted to speak about this post. Something about it felt off to me when I read it coming from a Ghazzawi. To me it seemed to be written by a long-time white liberal tumblr user - it had the distinct tumblr white person vernacular -, and when I asked her in the comments surely enough she confirmed to me someone wrote the post and asked her to post it. When I asked her, she didn't even know it was about American politics, she thought it was just about TikTok.

A tumblr user tricked a Ghazzawi genocide survivor into being their political mouthpiece without her even knowing the actual subject matter of the post.

I don't care to expose or find out who they are even, because that's not the point of the post. Regardless of whether you agree with the intended message of the post, we can all agree that it is extremely fucking disgusting to try and trick someone this vulnerable - the survivor of an ongoing genocide - to grant your own personal political opinions more credence and legitimacy. I can't fathom the level of disgust I feel right now. Don't fucking do this. I can't believe I have to say this but DON'T. FUCKING. DO THIS. Absolutely fucking shameful.

I have already made it clear to the Ghazzawis following me not to let this happen. So for you Westerners, if someone asks you to translate for them, that's okay, if someone asks you to write a post for them, that's okay, but if you write a post and try to trick a Palestinian to pass off your words as their own, that is UNACCEPTABLE.

My good friend Mounir Alanqar @lion-5 has been recovering from surgery while in the midst of a war. Instead of getting the safety and rest he needs to recover well, he instead has had to suffer through frigid temperatures and malnutrition.

The rest of his family is struggling from the hard conditions as well. Mounir's mother has asthma, but due to the lack of medical supplies in Ghazzah, she can't get the medicine she needs. As well as this, Mounir's little sister, Sham, is only 4 years old. Due to the war and lack of food, she isn't able to get the nutrition she needs to grow and stay healthy.

In addition to the scarcity of basic needs like food, warmth, and medicine, Mounir and his family live in fear of attacks from the occupation. Today, there is bombing near them, the sound of it terrifying and unavoidable.

So far, Mounir's family has only reached a small fraction of their final goal. Donations have been extremely slow, and often they will go for days on end without receiving any.
