Here I am as I promised to write a post about Fiestas de Pilar 2018 in Zaragoza, Spain.

So, I went to Zaragoza with my host family last week. In Spain, October 12th is the day when Columbus discovered America, also the day of Spain – Dia de la Hispanidad and the first apparition of Mary to Hispanic people. This mix of coincidence gives us muchas fiestas and even more food. 🙂

So, we set off in the early morning on Friday and stayed at my host Dad’s parent’s house in the center of Zaragoza. So many cars and people! Crazy! People dancing, singing and playing music on the streets. Absolutely loved it! After lunch with their family members, where Grandma put every piece of food that I could possibly imagine, it was time to… improve my Spanish. My host Mum just ditched me and said:

– Now, it’s only you and Spanish. ¡Adiós!

And off she went. Grandma turned out to be quite a traveller! She basically was in more places in Europe than I so for almost an hour she was talking about every country she’d been to. In Spanish, of course. I did understand a lot but my responses were, well, pathetic. I’m gonna get there one day with my language, promise, Spaniards! 🇪🇸 After this (and even more flan) we took a long nap and then head out to the city for… more food.

Spanish food tracks are LIFE. That’s all I’m gonna say. God bless your huevos con chorizo. So simple yet so epic.

As you can see, we went to El Tubo the next day which is like the main gastro district in the city. As a huge bacon lover (thank you, Canada, eh!) I’ve ordered to be the best piece of meat I’ve ever had in my entire life. I literally swallowed the whole piece of pig. My host parents were impressed. Nailed it. Hanging out, eating and drinking this is how I spent this day with my host parents (yes, no kids!). And it was amazing. Oh, yeah, after we came back Grandma put even more food in my stomach and I almost died. I’ll never say no to Spanish food.

And I got myself a nice bracelet which I’m wearing all the time! ¡Te quiero, España!

Why have I decided to be an Au Pair in Spain?
