Looking for some fun facts about Peru? Then you’ve come to the right place, as we share some awesome Peru facts. We’ve fallen in love with the country and after our first trip to the country, we’ve been itching to return.
After planning our next trip to the South American country we decided to share some of our favorite interesting facts about Peru! It’s one of our favorites in the world and it’s easy to see why it fascinates travelers from all over the world.
30 Fun Peru Facts
1.) Peru became a Spanish colony in 1572.
To be precise, this South American country was called the Viceroyalty of Peru. It was one of the more successful colonies, with gold, potatoes, and other goodies there for the taking; it also allowed for trade with Spain’s other colony in the Philippines.
2.) The Spanish conquered the once powerful Inca Empire.
Starting to gain a foothold in the region in the 13th century, the Inca began to grow a vast empire (called Tawantinsuyu) that stretched from modern-day southwest Colombia to south-central Chile. The unification wasn’t all bloodshed: it was a mix of conquest and peaceful assimilation. They had an official

The 11 Best Backpacks for Photographers Who Like To Travel
Are you seeking the best backpacks for photographers? We travel with an arsenal of photography equipment that consists of several cameras, lenses, a drone, and a tripod. However, there are many risks with all that gear, so a reliable backpack to carry camera gear is critical.
How do you expect to carry around several thousand dollars worth of heavy equipment up steep mountain paths and through humid jungles? In cases such as this, your simple run-of-the-mill backpack does not cut it.
The way to protect your camera and accessories safe and sound is to buy yourself a backpack designed for photographers. The best part is these backpacks can often do far more than keep your camera and lenses safe. In this post, we break down the best camera backpacks suited for every kind of photographer.
The Best Backpacks for Photographers
LowePro Fastpack BP250 AW II

Pros

Cons
Mid Range QualityLimited Storage CapacityTop Section Feels Cavernous
This bag is of tremendous value and one of my favorite backpacks for photographers. The camera bag packs a punch with the number of features included in it. We had this bag for years before just recently upgrading to the more robust LowePro Whistler. The LowePro Fastpack BP250 AW II can carry a camera with an attached lens and three other lenses, a laptop, and several jackets or even other articles of clothing needed for the trip at the top.
On the side of the bag, it can accommodate a tripod or bottle of water. The backpack also includes a rain cover for protection from all kinds of weather, from monsoons to sandstorms. However, it does feel a little limited at the top, and I had a hard time accommodating all I need for travel like a jacket, water bottle, hard drive, sunglasses, and headphones. In terms of quality, don’t expect a robust high-end bag, but its craftsmanship is admirable. Overall, the backpack is a really great value.

12 EPIC Campgrounds at the Oregon Coast
>
Like most lifelong Oregonians, I’ve spent my fair share of time basking in the glory of the mighty Oregon Coast. These fond memories of sandy toes and sunburns miraculously soothed by Tillamook ice cream have made me realize how lucky I was to spend most of my childhood summers exploring and camping at the Oregon Coast.
Even though my travels have taken me to jaw-dropping scenic wonders the world over, nothing beats the jagged coastline of the Oregon Coast. I have a soft spot in my heart for dense foggy beaches and rock outcroppings as far as the eye can see. I attribute this weakness to my mother’s love for the Oregon Coast — we spent most summer weekends at the beach!
But look at me getting off course already.
You came hear to learn about the best beaches at the Oregon Coast so let’s get to it!
Tips for Camping Near the Oregon Coast
Practice Leave No Trace
If you’re unfamiliar with Leave No Trace, it’s a measure to be a good steward of the land. You can read about the seven principals of Leave No Trace here.
Oregon Coast Camping Reservations
Make no mistake, the Oregon Coast is a popular place, therefore making reservations for camping at the Oregon Coast is strong encouraged (if not altogether required during the summer months). I will link the reservation sites for each of the Oregon Coast campgrounds I list below to make your trip planning a bit easier.
You + Sunscreen = Best Friends (Forever)
I’ve been sunburned at the Oregon Coast more times than I can count (I should have listened to my mother) — the fog is misleading! I finally found this sunscreen and never leave the house without it, highly recommend it.
Essential Oregon Coast Camping Gear
My husband and I are avid hikers and have continued my family’s tradition of camping at the Oregon Coast during summer. Over the past five years we’ve finely honed our list of camping gear essentials. Here’s our “holy grail” camping products.
