शेख तकी ने हजारों मुसलमानों को इकट्ठा करके कहा कि हम कबीर को उबलते तेल की कढ़ाई में डालेंगे। यदि नहीं मरा तो मान लेंगे कबीर अल्लाह है। कबीर साहेब उबलते तेल की कढ़ाई में स्वयं ही जाकर ऐसे बैठ गए जैसे ठंडे जल में बैठे हों उनके शरीर को खरोच तक नहीं आई।

एक बार दिल्ली के सम्राट सिकंदर लोधी ने जनता को शांत करने के लिए अपने हाथों से कबीर साहेब को हथकड़ियाँ लगाई, पैरों में बेड़ी तथा गले में लोहे की भारी बेल डाली और आदेश दिया गंगा दरिया में डुबोकर मारने का। उनको दरिया में फेंक दिया। कबीर परमेश्वर जी की हथकड़ी, बेड़ी और लोहे की बेल अपने आप टूट गयी परमात्मा जल पर सुखासन में बैठे रहे। कुछ नहीं बिगड़ा।
