Children and violence
Family life is the source of our greatest warmth and support yet is, at the same time, the most violence-prone setting in society.
It is within the family that children learn whether violence is a ‘normal’ and acceptable way of handling differences/conflicts and its in the family that most violence actually takes place
We love our children, we hit them, we hit each other in front of them, we say they’re our future, we invest little effort in ensuring a different future than our current reality, we poison their environment, we perpetuate gender roles that contribute to much of the above

Life is a mystery for us - it is made up of a curious series of unpredictable events which are then structured by our (mostly) unpredictable responses to them
