Eric Espinoza The Vine RC PSALM 44 God has been with us before, so why didn't He show up this time? 1. Remembering God's faithfulness in the past gives us hope for the future. 1. We need to teach this to new believers so they're prepared ahead of time for hardship 2. Suffering can make you feel like God is not present 1. Don't be timid, run to God! 2. Don't make the same mistake Job's friends made. 3. We experience suffering that doesn't always make sense. 1. Shadow of death - Hebrew combination of words to describe thick despair. 2. It's ok to have feelings of abandonment as long as we keep our faith. 3. It's ok to be frustrated. But don't try to hide it from God. He can handle it. 4. We pray boldly to a God characterized by his steadfast love. 1. Even when it doesn't seem like it. Trust it. How do we tie this to Christ? Romans 8 - we have so much to look forward to. Romans 5 - Romans 8:31-39 - quotes Psalm 44. Answers. Greek = super conquerors Romans 8:11 - what is your hope? John 11 - though you die, you will live. Death cannot hold you down. Romans 8:18 - sufferings of death not with comparing... It's not a cop out... We don't just say, "it'll get better eventually" - Don't get caught up in the "here and now. Romans 8:26 - we can't even pray right. Holy Spirit intercedes. Romans 8:31 - God even gave his son for us, what else would He hold back from us? Don't be timid with the Gospel!
