There is still hope. Say it out loud. Palestine will be free. The Palestinian people will celebrate their culture and heritage with each other. We will love and be loved. Do not fall into the trap of despair.

Having just watched Amélie (the musical, there’s a really high quality bootleg on YouTube if u want to watch it) I have some thoughts. (SPOILERS)
1. I’ve never listened to the soundtrack before. I wasn’t a huge fan of the music. As such, I can sort of see why the reviews were low and there were no Tony noms. On the other hand, Stay is now my FAVOURITE broadway love song ever ever ever 2. And Nino x Amélie is so pure and so so good?? A lot of the time, in theatre and in fiction in general, there’s just a random Passionate Kiss™ after hours of Pining, but neither party asks. I like it, it’s cute. Usually. Having never been in a relationship, I can’t pass comment as to how realistic this is. HOWEVER, increasingly, this has been stressing me out a lil bit because ere is a lack of consent. Now, in Amélie, this isn’t a thing. Firstly, you’ve got the whole Amélie-freaking-out thing going on. Nino still wants to know her, so tries time and time again to find her. It’s cute, if a lil but stalkerish. Amélie, although absolutely terrified of a relationship, doesn’t tell him to leave. Then, when he finally finds her, she runs off. He’s clearly upset, but her friends persuade him that she loves him really (she does) and he goes to her house. Instead of just walking in, as was perhaps expected, he ASKS. She has another panic and tells him to stay- “don’t come any closer but don’t walk away.” She’s not the easiest girl to work with, but he still does it. He loves her. From this, and her neighbour’s interjections, she realises that he isn’t going to hurt her, and allows him in. Instead of kissing her immediately, as perhaps expected, he allows her to kiss him. She does so, gently, avoiding his lips. She isn’t yet comfortable with kissing him on the lips, even though he seems to be. He respects her boundaries and lets her only do what she wants to. She then allows him to kiss her, first her cheek, then her neck. The audience laughed at this, which upset me. She was just establishing her trust in him, and consented to particular kisses. He didn’t push her boundaries. It was beautiful. Finally, they kiss on the lips, in a wonderful, consensual, clearly trusting kiss. They didn’t rush. He ensured she was comfortable. This dynamic is so wonderfully healthy, I can’t help but adore it.
Tl;dr- the whole Amélie/Nino dynamic is really pure and consensual, and it’s beautiful.
I know I just did a complete breakdown of this scene, but please, please try and understand why I love this relationship so much. It’s one of the healthiest relationships in fiction, let alone on Broadway. Their whole dynamic is built on trust and consent- and it’s beautiful! My lil rant is over now, please reblog with any thoughts, if you’ve watched it etc.
