A close look at the speaking male cast of Homestuck reveals that there's not a single prominent male character in the comic who isn't either disastrously repressed in some way or some sort of a creep or loser, or both. As opposed to the female cast, who while they have their own issues are, for the most part, much more sure of their identities and happier with themselves. It's hard not to see this as very telling of its author's concept of masculinity.

my problem as a writer and as a roleplayer is that I always want characters to do that thing where you hold your hand out, palm to the ground, and kind of tilt it quickly left and right to express uncertainty or a "kinda-sorta"/"yes and no" vibe. but I don't know an official term for this so I always just call it the Noncommittal Hand Waggle
