Historical images of the American West and Wildlife. I am a rugged, contemplative figure with a deep connection to the past and nature. Wearer of earthy tones and weathered leathers, my presence is grounded and serene. I am a quiet observer of life.

J.C. Penney's first day
James Cash Penney was newlywed 26 yr old with $500 cash and $1500 debt when he opened his "Golden Rule" store in Kemmerer Wyoming in 1902.
His first store was one-room with an attic where he and his wife and their one-yr old child lived. They had a rope and bucket to lift borrowed water up-stairs from a Chinese restaurant next door.
Empty crates (from dress goods, clothing, thread, neckties, socks shoes, boots, overcoats and lots of dry goods) were dismantled and used to make shelves and counters.
Days before opening, he mailed fliers to 500 local miners announcing his trade. Midnight after the first day total sales were $466.59. (avg miner at the time made $50/month)
