History of New Media
Technology is slowly conquering everything but at the same time making our daily routine in life easier. This began changing rapidly during this 20th century but let’s have a knowledge on how it started and let’s compare how big it changed.
*The earliest form of Internet or New Media is CompuServe which was developed on 1960s.
*During 1970 Technology and the same time New Media are improving.
*By 1979 UseNet is made which allows users to communicate through a virtual newsletter.
*By the 1980s home computers were commonly used and New Media is becoming more sophisticated.
*By 1997 the first recognizable social media site, Six Degrees, were used that enabled users to upload a profile and make friends with other users .
By 1988 Internet relay chats, or IRCs, were first used and by 1999 it is becoming more popular.
*By 1999 the first blogging sites became popular, creating a social media sensation that’s still popular today.
*By 2000 sites like MySpace and LinkedIn gained prominence and sites like Photobucket and Flickr facilitated online photo sharing.
*By 2005 Youtube was made, creating an entirely new way for people to communicate and share with each other across great distances.
* By 2006, Facebook and Twitter both became available to users throughout the world.
And now it is still dominating the whole world because it serves as the way of communication and information gatherer where you can access every information you need in just one click. I think the future New Media is now one click away and it’s changes will surely make its way to the whole world.

How to be a responsible media user?
To become a responsible media user, we need to be mature enough to handle/use it. We need to act profesionally using it since we are not the only one who can see it. But some people are using media in a wrong way. Examples are posting bad comments to other people, posting nude pictures, spreading wrong information and scamming other people. Don’t these people think that they are just humiliating themselves and worst some people can even sue them for that? We need to be media literate and act an educated and classy person would do. THINK BEFORE YOU CLICK.
