Rand is like ‘Well, the trauma I suffer is unavoidable, so I tell myself it makes me strong. I do have horrible guilt about other people’s trauma, but that’s what’s keeping me a person! Gotta hang onto that!’

Perrin is like ‘I am afraid I cause or could cause trauma to others! What do you mean, I have trauma I’m ignoring? I’m the monster here!’

Mat is like ‘Please no more trauma! I just keep fundamentally rearranging my identity around it and no one even notices, which is both comforting and weirdly upsetting.’

The legendary horn of Valere is mostly based in two mythological traditions.

Based on the presence of the character Olver who blows it, we can recognize in the name the character Oliver, a companion to Roland from the Song of Roland.

As popular once in Europe, as the Arthurian tradition later on, it features a magical horn Oliphant that can summon aid.

But the name itself, Valere, relates to a different tradition altogether. The great Nordic God Heimdall also had a horn Gjallarhorn, one that would be instrumental during the Final Battle and would wake the necessary gods.

Odin's epithet used in the description of the horn is Valfather, father of the slain. Much like in the word Valhalla, Hall of the Slain, where all the slain had to prove themselves with noble deeds. Like Heroes of the Horn.

Thus the horn of Valere can be loosely translated as the "horn of the slain heroes."
