Mortila chuckled and slowly laid down so it was easier for Rui to climb off. But as soon as Mortila was on her belly, Athena climbed on to her mothers shoulders and instantly tries to nuzzle Rui in greeting.

“Rui!” Mortila eagerly trotted over before greeting him with a soft nicker.

“How have you been? It’s been a while.”

With a soft nicker in greeting of her own Mortila began to slow down. Soon the pair were standing outside a large cave with Athena eagerly trying to climb her mother to reach Rui.

“Welcome back Mistress, and young Master Rui.” Disaster was standing outside of the cave and gave a bow to the pair.

“Are you okay, Rui? Did you enjoy the ride?” Mortila asked, smiling back at her passenger.

“Rui!” Mortila eagerly trotted over before greeting him with a soft nicker.

“How have you been? It’s been a while.”

Mortila shifted gears and soon the pair was galloping through the woods at a blistering pace. The large Saber carefully weaved in and out of the trees and easily hopped over any down logs she came across. Soon a clearing came into view and a tiny green and black foal was seen standing in the middle of it.

As soon as Athena saw her mother she started eagerly dancing around and joyfully calling for her.

“Rui!” Mortila eagerly trotted over before greeting him with a soft nicker.

“How have you been? It’s been a while.”

Mortila smiled and started off slow at first, just a steady walking pace as she headed further up the mountain. Soon she started picking up speed. From the walk came a bouncy gait called a trot, from there she switched into a smooth canter. The canter was comfortable with a back and forth rocking motion, similar to a rocking chair.

“If you get uncomfortable just say so and I’ll slow down, okay?”

“Rui!” Mortila eagerly trotted over before greeting him with a soft nicker.

“How have you been? It’s been a while.”

“Hold on as tight as necessary so that you feel safe.” Mortila laid still for a few moments to give Rui time to relax. At the end of those moments Mortila carefully stood up. She did her best to keep from unseating Rui, but soon she was standing on all four hooves.

“How are you doing back there, Rui?”

“Rui!” Mortila eagerly trotted over before greeting him with a soft nicker.

“How have you been? It’s been a while.”

Mortila smiled and carefully laid down to make it a little easier. “Climb on to my back and sit just behind my shoulders. When you climb on, put one leg on each side of me and use your hands to hold on to my mane. I’ll do the rest.” She softly explained.

“Rui!” Mortila eagerly trotted over before greeting him with a soft nicker.

“How have you been? It’s been a while.”

Mortila slowly lowered and folded her front legs under her chest, stopping in a sort of bowing position. “Hop on, we have a bit of a climb ahead of us.”

“Rui!” Mortila eagerly trotted over before greeting him with a soft nicker.

“How have you been? It’s been a while.”

The large Saber gave a soft sigh and slowly relaxed into his pats.

“Well, that makes me feel a bit better. Would hate for something to happen to a friend of mine.” She thought for a moment before peeking up. “Would you like to see Athena and see where we’re living? If you’d like I do have some food you’re welcome to if you’re hungry.”

“Rui!” Mortila eagerly trotted over before greeting him with a soft nicker.

“How have you been? It’s been a while.”

“Oh! I wasn’t sure how warm that actually was. Or if Demons get cold.” The large Saber gave a nervous chuckle.

“I’m sorry if I upset you, Rui. I just was probably a little to curious.”

“Rui!” Mortila eagerly trotted over before greeting him with a soft nicker.

“How have you been? It’s been a while.”

“It’s how I keep warm in the winter months. Even baby Athena is a fluff ball.” Mortila smiled, purring softly at his pets. “What about you? Do you ever get cold?”

“Rui!” Mortila eagerly trotted over before greeting him with a soft nicker.

“How have you been? It’s been a while.”

“No, not usually. But I do, and it’s because I combined my two favorite animals into one form; a horse and a Saber Tooth Tiger. I can also change into a Saber Tooth Tiger if I choose to.” Mortila explained before nodding.

“You’re my friend, you don’t have to ask to pet me.”

“Rui!” Mortila eagerly trotted over before greeting him with a soft nicker.

“How have you been? It’s been a while.”

“Not really, kind of a base form. I do have a “final” form, but this definitely isn’t it.” Mortila watched him curiously. Outside of the red mane and tail, the only thing that made her different than a normal horse was the two large fangs she had hanging out the sides of her mouth. Also worth noting, her coat was super fluffy thanks to the cold weather.

“Rui!” Mortila eagerly trotted over before greeting him with a soft nicker.

“How have you been? It’s been a while.”

Mortila continued to look confused before it dawned on her, Rui hadn’t seen her Saber form before. With a laugh she answered her friend.

“Oh! I’m capable of shape-shifting and this is my preferred form. I forgot I’ve never shown you!”
