Augh, i keep on getting these dreams, after I went on that date, of like v-vines like coiling around me, all nice and snug it feels nice •////• and pollen and stuff drifting through the air, it smells really bad but also good ? Like armpits. Oh yeah also there’s a voice that’s saying a bunch of stuff that I don’t really understand but she sounds nice :3 um if anyone knows how to get these dreams to stop please help, I guess florets are allowed since y’all seem more experienced with Affini stuff, and I’m not asking a Plant for help on this for obvious reasons.

Honestly I think one of the most empowering things you can do for yourself is to separate your negative qualities from your identity.

Instead of saying “I’m lazy,” saying “I’ve made a habit of not doing work unless it’s absolutely necessary.” Instead of saying “I’m a bad friend,” saying “I haven’t communicated as much as I should with the people I care about.”

By being specific about your problems, and by framing it as an action that you are consciously either working on or ignoring rather than an unchangeable part of who you are, you allow yourself to accept your mistakes and work constructively on them instead of pretending they didn’t happen or wallowing in blaming yourself.

While I absolutely can't deny that the results of media illiteracy are desired and purposefully introduced, I also can't really say that school really taught us about these topics. Most of my (and my friends') knowledge of media literacy came from the fact that back in our times, piracy was simply at a high point. Cable TV was the main legal way of watching movies so we knew about pirated movies. Parents didn't want to pay for games so we taught each other to pirates minecraft. And now we are conscious about our subscriptions because we are subconsciously comparing them to piracy.

A lot of the newer generation is born into a world of relatively convenient legal media availability, so they didn't have to learn any of the "fancy" stuff. My sister can't even comfortably use a desktop computer because she simply didn't need to; I did, because that's where all the pirated games and movies were.

Conspiracy theory time. The reason good tech literacy stopped being taught in schools is simple. You don’t need good tech literacy to download a game or a movie, you do need it to pirate one. You don’t need tech literacy to sign up to something, you do need it to cancel. You don’t need tech literacy to accept the default settings which sell your data to everyone, you do need tech literacy to have a chance of navigating through the settings, though

WHAT i thought reblogs were seen by everyone who visits my blog

to those of you who are moving here from tiktok, from someone whos used both tiktok and tumbr for years...

1. DO NOT censor your posts

dont censor sex, abuse, suicide, dont censor it. we dont have censors like tiktok does, you wont be banned for talking about these things and tagging them properly helps people avoid them (also, we dont have shadowbanning here)

2. we dont really have an algorithm

you follow who you follow, and you see posts from who you follow or what you search. the 'for you page' is basically useless here. this also brings me to my next two points

3. dont crosstag

we get it, on tiktok you have to crosstag for reach, but thats not really a thing here. just tag your posts properly (also posters often leave more info about the post in the tags!! and when you reblog stuff you can leave your own notes in the tags, kind of like the old "repost comments" on tiktok)

4. dont expect to go viral/be famous

"viral" isnt really a thing on here (at least not for the average blogger). your posts will probably get 2-10 likes and you wont get nearly as many followers than on tiktok. thats just how tumblr is

5. blocking is your best friend

tiktok is VERY discussion based, and while tumblr is much more discussion based than other social medias, its still not a good place for ragebait/discourse. dont interact, itll make your experience worse in the end, just block and move on

6. you cant go into someone elses house and start rearranging their furniture

this is tumblr, not tiktok. dont diss old tumblr users for how they use the site or try to change them, thats like going into someone elses house and trying to rearrange their furniture. we've been here longer and we're familiar with the site and its culture, either find your niche, adapt, or find a different app
